“I wish I could give this winery 10 stars, it was absolutely the best stop of our day! We came in early in the day, so there wasn't many people there and we got the full attention of a very lovely lady who helped us with our tastings. She was so patient with our questions, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about sharing the morning with us. I loved that they grow most of their own grapes (becoming a rare thing with wineries now), and have some of the oldest vines in the area. We enjoyed a lovely picnic (we brought our food)on their lawn after buying a bottle of the chenin blanc and taking the vinyard walking tour. It was so interesting to see the various treatment of their different vinyard blocks, and the old twisted cherry trees were really cool to look at. They are a biodiverse winery, so the grounds were lovely and wild instead of traditional manicured rows.

We ended up spending more than 2 hours there and it was a blast. I would absolutely love to go back again someday!”

“Great location offering baked goods, drinks and sandwiches. Ordered an open-face sandwich on rye bread with avocado, tofu, tomatoes, and balsamic drizzle. A blackberry lemon poppy seed loaf, chocolate chunk cookie, and matcha latte. The sandwich hit the spot for something healthy and savory. The lemon poppy loaf was fantastic, I could have totally eaten a second, though I'm sure my body would not be happy with all the sugar. The cookie was also great with some salt crystals on top that juxtapose well with the sweet cookie. The matcha latte was a bit too matcha-y, had to dilute it a bit and sweeten it. Also got the Korean kimchi wrap with potato chips to go which was extremely satisfying after a long drive. Highly recommend this place.”

“We were so fortunate to find this unique Cafe with one of the most eclectic and carefully curated menus. The tacos, enchiladas and quesedillas were just the right portions and we could taste the freshness of their ingredients. The crush puppies were a star as were the cider flights. What stuck with us though was how friendly, personable and genuinely kind the staff was. They made it an incredible experience. It was the most grounded and relaxing eating experience we could have imagined. Keep shining and we will certainly be back when we can!”

“Mungen Noodle caught my attention as soon as we parked. It absolutely did not disappoint. Their potstickers were deep fried and delicious. For my main I ordered the Fire Fish making it extra spicy. The heat was well balanced and not overwhelming. The salmon was also soo good. For desert I got the sesame seed mochi ice cream. There’s something about the texture that I love. That softness mixed with the cold ice cream complimented each other perfectly. This takes me back to my visits to Japan. I absolutely loved it and would return if given the opportunity.”

“This place has been a must stop or even the reason why I retreat from Portland for a weekend getaway. The wine selection and food are perfectly curated, and the staff are always sweet and kind and attentive regardless of how busy it is.

“This was delicious bbq! Our group tried the brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends, Mac and cheese, and picnic potatoes. The burnt ends were the crowd favorite but it was all fantastic.”

“Pine Street Bakery ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On 9/15/22, I stopped in Hood River, Oregon to check out Pine Street Bakery. Owner Megan Davis’s mother started Grand Central Bakery in Seattle, Washington in 1972. Today, there are 11 locations between Portland and Seattle. If you ever have an opportunity to visit a Grand Central Bakery/Café, I recommend it. I wanted to try one of their famous Cardamom Knots, which are Challah dough slathered in Vanilla Butter, covered in Cardamom Sugar and tied in a Knot. Unfortunately, they were out. I got a Carrot Cake cupcake ($5), which is one of their best sellers, as well as a Maddie Cake cupcake ($5). The Maddie Cake cupcake is a seasonal cupcake that changes with some regularity. The current Maddie Cake cupcake is Peaches & Cream. It is Vanilla cake filled with Peach compote made from local peaches, topped with a Vanilla Swiss Meringue Butter cream frosting. I enjoyed both cupcakes but my favorite of the two was the Maddie Cupcake because it was so unique. There was a generous amount of peach compote in the center of the cupcake, as well as on top. The compote had great flavor. Both cupcakes were fairly dense but moist. In addition to the baked goods and breads, Pine Street Bakery has Breakfast, Lunch, and Coffee menus, as well as specials. They also sell a lot of other products and fresh flowers. Highly Recommended!!!”

“On our way back to Pendleton from Portland, we stopped to charge our car. Then walked over to Solstice Wood Fire Pizza for dinner. “I don’t want this review to be taken lightly. My wife, her parents and myself dined here in May. I may not speak for them, but I will shout it from the rooftops- This restaurant is something truly special. The combination of Nathan and Chef Sarah’s talents are truly remarkable. I will not dare tote my expertise here, because Sarah is light years ahead of anyone in a hundred mile (plus??) radius when it comes to a culinary education, but each item wether it is a-la-cart or prefix is so filling and the flavors intelligently thought out. Down to the temperature they reach at the arrival of the table. Fresh baked bread, bouillabaisse, oostera caviar, and wagyu steaks? Don’t second guess the notches in your belt, get the caviar. Chef Sarah’s multitude of talents truly shine brightest in the pastry department. I have full confidence in saying every dessert that will ever be consumed here will be taken bite by bite with gratitude, fond memories with your loved ones and flavor-induced euphoria. Nathan is also a mastermind behind the operation, and has a wealth of knowledge about the area and more importantly, local and foreign wines. I can’t wait to see how he and Sarah continue to grow this business in the years to come. To top it off, the signed card from the owners with a list of each guests ordered items, thoughtfully thanking their guests? Super class act.

If I had anything, ANYTHING at all to say…Hood River is full of so much beautiful multi-cultural art, and niche charm. I would love to see Chef Sarah and Nathan’s take on incorporating more art inside the restaurant. The tall ceiling and barren white walls are just a touch intimidating for new guests. (I recommend checking out Bellingham local Chef James Zamory’s collection). Just a thought.

With that, dear reader, you have every reason to pack those dress shoes you haven’t worn since your brother’s wedding and she has every reason to break out that gorgeous dress she’s been dying to wear out on the town- make a stop here and have a glorious memory to hold near and dear to your heart for years to come.
