There's alot of many sushi places in Portland you can choose from, but if you happened to be by one of the bamboo chains just know it's just okay lol. We spontaneously came to this location. Service was fine, maybe there was only a limited amount of staff making sushi but it took about 15-20 minutes waiting for all of our order. I personally like to eat everything at once and not while it's coming typa gal. We ordered - spicy tuna crispy rice: was my favorite out of what we ordered. Crispy exterior and soft chewy interior, tuna was flavorful with maybe an unagi sauce underneath? Idk it was good 9/10 -spicy salmon crispy rice: was my least favorite. The crispy rice was hard and chewy, and they alone turned me off. Not sure if it was just a bad batch that day. 4/10 -mother of dragon roll: it's solid, nothing crazy going on but nothing I was like oo I want more!! 7/10 -Friday the 13th: it was dosed in spicy Mayo so I didn't taste much of anything else lol 5/10 Overall, it's alright. I would spend more time researching other places and give them a try before bamboo.

The first time I dined here in March I was blown away by the food quality and service. I decided to take my sister here for her birthday on Sunday and unfortunately had the opposite experience. Our waitress was this tall plain looking white girl with a ponytail who was constantly texting and had a scowl on her face the entire time we were there. We've all worked in food or retail. Check your drama at the door and don't be having text arguments between service. You're handling plates of sushi while picking up and touching your phone without washing your hands? Come on. She had the audacity to put the card reader in my face with the tip % options "20%, 22%, and 25%" or something. I wish I had taken the time to enter my own custom tip, because this girl deserved $0 for the way she made us feel throughout the meal. I come from LA where most people are pretty unpleasant. But to be dining in a high end sushi restaurant in Portland and be treated like this girl has a million better things to do at work besides her job just sucks. I'm not one to write lengthy reviews often but her attitude deserves it. Beware if you eat here. The food is great but this server will make you wish you had come on one of her days off. If I go again I'll try a different location or just ask for a different server. How disrespectful to allow customers to waste hard earned money on a meal that's tainted by some brat's attitude. I hope this review gets back to her, and I hope whatever argument she was having on her phone was worth ruining my sister's birthday meal.

Usually fans of NW locations, but trying different location. They were out of the wine I wanted and octopus! but shishito peppers were good and nice change from edamame. Had two rolls - garden of Eden and hoki poke. Both awesome. What killed it for us...it was so freezing cold in the restaurant we couldn't take off our coats and we didn't enjoy because of that. Ambiance was good and nice location. Service good and food came out in right order.

Food was delivered but still tasted delicious! Ordered the salmon roll and the Unicorn roll and both were good! The salmon roll was fresh and the unicorn roll had a little spice to it which was perfect. Would definitely order again if I'm in the area!

Went here for dinner today. There were fruit flies all around the whole restaurant, on our table alone there was atleast 10. When we brought it up to the server he said "we've been having this problem for awhile, they are hard to get rid of" disgusting for any restaurant but especially one that serves RAW fish. YUCK! Needless to say we left immediately.

Has hired security that is ruthlessly aggressive with the homeless in the area getting into verbal escalated fights ruining my good evening drinking at the barVegetarian options: They refused to take certain ingredients out when I told them I had a specific allergy and I had to repeatedly keep sending back the food.Dietary restrictions: They do not respect accommodations, they are only trained to shake their head yes at the customer and not be transparentParking: Streets are closedKid-friendliness: Owner has hired security harassing the homeless on the streets ruining my experienceWheelchair accessibility: The sidewalks are not IDD friendly

Owner has hired security that is overly aggressive with the less abled that need to rest against the building sidewalk or just sit on the sidewalk in general. The security officer kept aggressively forcing their body close to the homeless individuals and at one point pulled out gloves and grabbed the homeless guy sitting down the sidewalk after he moved on 4/21/24 off the side of the building and closer to the street where it’s LEGAL TO SIT and got into a verbal altercation causing a scene disturbing my nice evening at the gay bar across the street.Security officer kept taunting the homeless person even though they were minding their own business playing music on the boombox and I guess the security camera for the restaurant was picking up the homeless man leaning up against the building. The homeless guy was there not even 5 minutes before Security started harassing him. I tipped the homeless guy 20$ for being psychologically tortured with mental warfare from the security guard.Security guard didn’t walk alway from the escalation until I started video recording with my phone of the verbal altercation.Parking: Street is closed for parkingKid-friendliness: Security are incredibly barbarically aggressive with the homeless in the area and get into escalated verbal altercations unable to de escalate the situation or person in a calm respectful manner.DONT bring kids here unless you want them to see verbal violence and strong languageWheelchair accessibility: Not IDD friendly

Sushi and small plate restaurant in the west side downtown area. The sushi rolls here are quite tasty, and the crunchy rice is better than most places. The ingredients all taste quite fresh which can make or break good sushi, but overall it’s nothing mind blowing. The garlic chicken was pretty mediocre. The tempura vegetables were nice and lightly fried, the sauce provided was adequate.Overall I’m glad that I tried it out, but considering the pricing to quality ratio I can say that I’m glad I went but I wouldn’t go again.

I'll start my saying that I am not a huge sushi fan, but I keep trying it and I LOVED Bamboo Sushi. We ordered the Bamboo Crispy Rice Yuzu Avocado, Bamboo Dragon Roll- (Tempura shrimp, spicy tuna, house crab cucumbers and avocado rolled in tempura), Green Machine (Tempura Fried green beens topped with avocado in a cilantro sweet chili aioli) and everything was perfect! My personal favorite was the Bamboo Dragon Roll. The Bamboo Crispy Rice was good but needed more flavor or a sauced added to it. The service was great and the restaurant is nicely decorated.

My family and I love the Bamboo Sushi in Cedar Hills. The downtown one was not as good an experience but not a bad one either. We visited for dinner around 6pm on a Friday.Green Machine (typically vegetarian) with Salmon added is a hit. The cauliflower is a hit too. The Karaage Chicken wasn't good it was surprisingly mild and dry. We salvaged it by dipping in extra sauce from the green machine roll. The house sake' was lukewarm and not hot.The service was on point; friendly, quick and helpful. The atmosphere was 'harried'. The bar area was disorganized and not a good vibe around which to hang. The fridge door was broken so people kept dropping it with a loud bang. The usher was confused. It just felt off, compared to sharp staff and energetic vibe of the Cedar Hills location. All in all, I like the Bamboo Sushi menu and the favorites will keep me coming back.

First time here, and absolutely loved the food and atmosphere! The food came out extremely quick and was so delicious! The only reason I’m not giving this a five star review is because the service was pretty sub par. I’ve worked in many restaurants before so i understand that it can be really tiring and draining dealing with so many different people, but, customer service really is the name of the game. We ended up having two waitresses as the first one’s shift had ended while we were eating so a different waitress closed us out and both gals were very icy towards us. Neither of them smiled at us or even asked us how we were doing and when I asked for a recommendation, the first waitress just named the dish she recommended without providing any reason why. When we left, we said goodbye and thank you to the waitress who had closed us out and she looked us dead in the eye and did not say anything back to us. I was so thrown off by it. If the food and atmosphere was not as good as it was, I would not be returning. But because it was that good, I would definitely come back, but next time will not expect any sort of inviting service from waitresses unfortunately.

Food was not worth the wait or the price. I decided to give this place a try because it's so highly rated. I ordered online and it said it'd be ready in one hour. Arrived on time and still had to wait 15 more minutes. I don't mind waiting as long as the food is worth it- which in my opinion, it was not. The sushi tasted good and fresh, but the texture wasn't there for me. I've paid less for better sushi. For my personal friends and family, I would not recommend this place for sushi. For anyone else, if you're in the area, it doesn't hurt to try it and see for yourself. Overall, the sushi itself is decent. I tried the Crispy Rice Spicy Salmon, Fry Tide, Garden Of Eden, Nigiri Hamachi, and Salmon Roll. If you do come here, my recommendation would be the Crispy Rice Spicy Salmon, Fry Tide, and Nigiri Hamachi.

The service and sushi quality both are good. However, there are better sushi restaurants around portland that charge less and have a more relaxed atmosphere. Bamboo feels like a tourist trap.

Food is good, but implicitly asking for 20%+tip through the tipping machine is not in line with the place’s atmosphere.
