“We like to be safe and warm during the cold rainy days. Coffee is god's bitter apology for everything else. We all want to see a familiar face at the end of a long journey. A knight without a kingdom fights for the one who can understand him. A soldier in peacetime fights the battle in his mind. we are hard shelled on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. When you drop your ice cream on the ground, mother says you can have another one, yet you still cry, fearing the day when there will not be another ice cream, another weekend, a familiar face, a just ruler. The Big City with a Small Town charm. Soft clouds, soft lighting. You can sleep in. All is forgiven. Breakfast goes till 2PMGet the double stack, it will not be too much.“

“Took a chance and stopped here for my son to get something to eat as he was famished. Hostess seated us promptly and our server was super friendly. My son got a "Looking for the Sun" omelette, my wife got a Blender Strawberry Lemonade drink and I got a cup of chowder. Food was brought out promptly and everything was clearly made from scratch and very good. The omelette was chock full of veggies and cheese and my son enjoyed it. The server even brought us a free refill of the Strawberry Lemonade drink + an extra glass of it. We didn't expect a free refill on a $4.95 drink and getting an extra glass of it on top of the free refill was extremely generous.Again, the friendly and cheerful server (Angel), the prompt service and the quality of the food were beyond what we expected. This is no Denny's.“

“Today was my first time ever to dine at Jam. Where have I been the last 20 years?!? Congratulations to this beautiful place with such a warm vibe, deeply noted while standing in the sideways wind and rain while putting our names in with a calm and kind woman whom I later found out was the owner. There was a bit of a situation when I hadn’t realized the text came in that our table was ready. By the time we got to the door and the sign said closed, we were perplexed! Okay, maybe it was just me, because I hadn’t realized the text for our table had already come in! The owner was curious where we had been and said that even though they were closed, she would be sure to seat us as she recalled me saying it was our dear friends birthday. Even in the midst of crazy holiday crowds… The service, atmosphere, food, vibe was just what my heart needed today! You know who you are! Keep up the beautiful work- We can’t wait to go back!“

“This place was GREAT! Atmosphere is cool. Visually it's a bit of a Montague, the booths and tables are all old school vintage diner type, and the decor is a bunch of various lumberjack momentous, which is fitting for Portland. The music playing was new age, and the food a bit hipster with flare. I was a little speculative about the menu, not certain I would like it but my buddy insisted we go, he had been many times. I'm always thrown by a wide array of vegan food. Usually tastes good but I like meat. But there was plenty of meat on the menu as well. I had the St. Helen's, my buddy had a burrito, mine was absolutely phenomenal, and he said his burrito was amazing too. Service was very good and attentive, a little slow with the coffee refills, but I can be hard to keep up with so she was great.I will ? come back here and introduce othersParking: Parking lot is tiny. “Had brunch with some friends. Everything was great! The Biscuits had amazing taste and texture, dense but not tough with a lightly crunchy crust. Crumbly but didn’t fall apart. The gravy was creamy, savory, and well seasoned. The Blueberry Cormeal pancake was amazing with a texture that was somewhere between fluffy and dense. The Hash Ups were crispy on the outside and not over done on the inside. The Fried Green Tomatoes were good but more breading than I usually like, a thicker cut tomato would’ve made them better. BUT the Lemon Meringue Pop Tart was the stuff dreams are made of! We were all full at the end of the meal, but my friends decided to get one and I am so happy they did! I will definitely be coming back here while those pop tarts are still in season.“

“It turns out that I'm a little bit of a meatloaf fan, and I've ordered it here twice; First time was traditional style, the second was dressed up like a burger. The pancakes are not out of control, but if you're not a big eater I'd start with one, and order another if you need it, they can come out of the kitchen pretty quickly.I can also recommend the huevos ranchero with crispy corn tortillas. It was filling, and had that perfect balance of ingredients that so many restaurants seem to get wrong. My better half vouches for the crab cake eggs Benedict, but I find it too rich for my taste.Vegetarian options: There seems to be 2-3 vegetation options, which for a breakfast joint is pretty common.“

“Damn does this place slap! PDX natives don't know how good they have it. At least for me, coming from Cincinnati where when we say '3-way' it means putting chili and shredded cheese on spaghetti, this place exceeded all my expectations even with my Portland friend's recommendation.I am slowly eating more plant based for the environment and try out the veggie option when there is one. I got the veggie Reggie and a lemon meringue pop tart thing. Full truth: I did not expect to like their mushroom gravy more than I like the sausage gravy I have gotten pretty good at making at home, but so help me god it was the best gravy I can remember having. The lemon meringue thing tasted like it came from a Michelin star restaurant. Damn, now I am disappointed going back to Cincy. This will be my first stop next time I come to PDX! The quality costs some coin but I will be wearing my per diem out every time I am back here.Vegetarian options: The mushroom gravy is from another dimension where flavor is sentient and writes poetry for your taste buds.“
