Service was lovely and quick. I chose to sit outside. They have a little parking lot which is nice but also nice to get takeout and order ahead! Per some other yelpers suggestions, I ordered the nigiri lunch set C - you get a choice of half a roll, too. I chose the spicy tuna (which was not a chopped situation). All in all the fish was fresh and plentiful. I was only slightly disappointed that my rice was falling apart and the outside tables were really sticky. I will be back, though - likely for takeout.

Kashiwagi is one of the very best Portland sushi experiences. I've been coming here since it was opened. It's a "mom and pop" family business. To put it simply: Good food, good service, good experience, an amazing deal! 10/10

Some of crazy good sushi. Excellent salads and sashimi. Really clean and simple menu. Nice and helpful staff, even when they are busy and limited on space. It's more of a date spot than a family spot ( only because space is limited). They are worth the wait if busy. I can't wait to go back.

First time coming to this place, gave some very strong mom and pop shop feels. Service was great and got our food within 20-30 mins of ordering. Only complaint I got was the karrage was mid compared to what I was expecting but otherwise great and would recommend.

Great sushi and nigiri! Unbelievable price, come with no time constraints because service can be slow, attentive and upbeat, but slow. We really enjoyed the food!

My favorite sushi spot in Portland. Quality is really good and the prices are good as well. The owners are also very sweet and welcoming. My fave nigiri is the creamy spicy scallop and the chirashi.

So glad the folks from Takahashi 2 are back in business! The hand rolls are amazing and everything is always super fresh!

I was really excited to eat here for the first time last Tuesday because I was craving sushi, plus all the reviews were stellar so I was sold on this place. I ordered several nigiri and a roll and at a glance it looked pretty decent but unfortunately, this was by far the worst sushi I have ever had. The tamago was sweet like custard, way too sweet. None of the seafood tasted particularly fresh and I was certain about this once I got to the uni. Uni is my favorite and it’s rare to find on menus, the color was dull but I still gave it a chance, one taste and it was very bitter, a tell tale sign that it wasn’t fresh at all. Then the final problem, right after trying the uni I found hairs in my rice so I had to stop eating. I was so appalled that I sat there for 15 minutes debating what I should do, and sadly I just paid and left. I can’t describe how disappointing it all was, especially since this place came well recommended and received by so many. It’s also clear that the people running it are doing their best so I preferred to cut my losses than make a fuss. It’s just sad overall. If you’re very discerning about sushi unfortunately I can’t recommend this place :(
