“Lake Tobias is one of my favorite places to visit when I am in PA! Friendly staff, affordable food, and the opportunities to interact with and feed a variety of animals make this wildlife park a unique and special place.The safari bus tours are my favorite part of this park! You are able to feed a variety of bison, gazelles, emus, etc. from your seat! You can purchase either pellets, popcorn, or carrots from the park and the prices are very reasonable. Pro tip: I have found that the animals really like the carrots and the kiddos really like the popcorn. The line for the tour can be long on busy days so make sure to bring something to entertain your kids. The animals eat right from your hand, which can be overwhelming for little ones or people with sensory sensitivities. The bus drivers are very knowledgeable and provide a variety facts about the animals and the park during the tour.The petting zoo has standard goats, camels, deer, etc. Be careful with the camels, some of them like scratches but some of them do not! Make sure that you stop by and pet the baby animals that are being socialized to humans near the petting zoo! I have been able to pet a baby bison, a calf, and a bunch of baby emus that were not as soft as I thought they were going to be. The exhibits are informative and some of the animals have a lot of space. The giraffes are a really long walk from the rest of the exhibits so be prepared! There is a hiking trail that will take you to the entrance of the giraffe exhibit that has birds and a very grumpy bobcat along the way. The trail has hills and is not disability or senior friendly so keep that in mind. If you stop by at the right time, then you may have the chance to feed a giraffe some lettuce or some other snack!Speaking of snacks, the food at the concession stands are delicious and very affordable! The burgers, chicken nuggets, and hot dogs at the Grille & Grub are all reasonably priced and hit the spot after all of that walking. The ice cream portions are generous and refreshing on hot summer days. There are a lot of covered seating areas near the concessions stands and scattered around the lakes. You can bring your own food if you want but with the affordable pricing at the concession stands you don't need to.If it is hot then make sure that you visit the reptile house or the museum for some air conditioning and information. The reptile house has exhibits around the walls of the building and you may get the chance to pet a snake or an alligator! There is a small amphitheater in the middle where keepers will bring out animals and give talks throughout the day. These talks are popular so get there early if you want a seat with a good view! The museum goes through the history of the park and is a loving tribute to the founder. There is an aquarium in the museum and staff who will show you some of the antlers or horns that the animals at the park have dropped.The park is open 10am - 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am - 6pm on weekends from June to August with shorter hours, limited activities, and/or only open weekends in April, May, September, October, and November (see the 2023 schedule below). Check back with the park website for their updated 2024 hours but the general concepts (only open for safari drive through in April and November, only open on weekends some months, etc.) have not changed in the past 3 years that I have been visiting. If you are coming from the south and taking the 225, there is a crazy bend in the road that you really need to be careful of (see the photo below). The park is located in a rural area but there is signage as you get closer to let you know that you are going the right way. You need to go past the John Deere store to get to the entrance. Parking is always free and admission at the time of this review was $19 for anyone age 3+ and includes all of the exhibits and the safari. “Only ever get take out here when I am in the area so I can say that the pulled pork and beef are amazing and worth every penny. They have great flavor and seasoned nicely with a nice portion for a fair price. The owner is a great guy who will talk with you while he gets your order ready and make you feel that he truly is grateful for your business.“
“During a recent adventure, we stumbled upon the Carsonville Hotel, a delightful find that we discovered through Facebook. The allure of their seafood Bloody Mary special was too tempting to resist, and it certainly did not disappoint.As we perused the menu, the buffalo chicken nachos caught our eye, and what a fantastic choice they were! Each bite was a perfect harmony of flavors, leaving us thoroughly impressed and eager for more.But the true star of the show was the Thin Mint Cheesecake. It was nothing short of fabulous, a dessert that managed to be both refreshingly minty and decadently creamy all at once.The Carsonville Hotel has etched a special place in our hearts, and we're already looking forward to our next visit. “We were travelling from GA, we saw this place and decided to stop. What a gem. The place was clean, everyone was so friendly and nice. The food was exceptional and plentiful. I could not eat all of my food as much as i tried. I asked our waitress what Dennys Lennies was famous for and she said the french fries( if we had been there for lunch i would have ordered them). Not a single person in the dining area were on their cell phones. Everyone was talking to each other. So glad we stopped and had this great experience, when i come back to Pennsylvania this place is on top if my list to eat at. Thank you for a great dining experience.“
“This little, unassuming, homey place has the BEST food and the waitstaff is DELIGHTFUL. My favorite restaurant in the Harrisburg area, and I don't think you can find a better steak anywhere on the east coast. I look forward to eating here every single time I'm in town :)“
“I love coming to mellow minded for lunch, quality ingredients at a reasonable price. I always get the turkey club with a lemon mint tea, both are delicious. The waitstaff is friendly and food comes out quickly even when they're busy. Sitting outside on their patio is the best on a nice day, lots of seating both inside and out and some cute decor inside.“

“My first time here was on Monday March 18th, from out of town (Youngstown,Oh-io. Food was great. But the complete staff from behind the bar to the kitchen are a game maker for this Sports bar. “All the food was expertly prepared and perfectly cooked but I honestly didn't like the flavor of the goat cheese appetizer and the two desserts, lemon creme brulee and tiramisu. The creme brulee was too lemony for me but executed perfectly whereas the tiramisu was confusing and a little liquor forward. I honestly believe other people might order these and love them. Crab cake, vegetables, and potatoes are great, but the sauce with the crab was too spritely with the lemon. Service was great and prices were fair. I recommend this restaurant as they have excellent food prepared exactly as it should be but maybe not right for my tastes. I know this is a weird review, but I want to go back and think you should go too!“
“Stopped by on Sunday afternoon. Hubby had the wings(Cajun)and a side salad. I opted for the cheeseburger which hands down was homemade and the best burger I have had out in a long time. Cooked to perfection. We shared some onion rings. They were darn good. Shared a piece of coconut cream pie. The BEST!!! Our server was Betty A seasoned pro.So glad we stopped in. We will definitely go back and enjoy the entire river area.“

“We stopped in on a Sunday early evening for live music and had a couple drinks, no food. The building is historic which makes this a really cool spot. There was a banquet room and bar on the second floor with a wraparound balcony that was accessible. The upstairs was closed for service at the time we visited. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. The bartender was personable and attentive. They did just also open a coffee shop with limited hours and I will be back to check that out. Nice stop for beverage or quick bite to eat if you are hiking Hawk Rock or the AT and a place to sleep if you need.“
“Came in towards the end of their day and they were more than gracious to accept our business. Owners were very pleasant. The restaurant was the cleanest one I believed that I have ever been in. Meal was great and the only reason they received 4 stars instead of 5 was because the cake we got, to go, tasted like it had been in the fridge for a while. It tasted stale; otherwise a quaint place!“

“Some of the best pizza, pasta, garlic bread, and fries I ever had! The pizza had amazing cheese and sauce and they will add anything you want on the pizza. The pasta sauce was incredible especially when you dip into it with the garlic bread. The old bay fries was an amazing combo kick of the old bay and amazing potatoes. This place never disapoints! I will come back as soon as I can!“

“I think Boro has really good bar food, and a beautiful view of the river and sunset, if you go around dinner time. We often go there during football season to watch the games.Kid-friendliness: This is a great place for kids. It is somewhat loud and high energy with sports typically playing on the TVs, so I like to bring my son because I don’t feel like it’s a quiet environment where he would disturb other customers.“
“My husband and I came in around 11:30am today. We live about an hour away and we’re on a day trip. We stopped here for lunch and so glad we did! The food was absolutely amazing and so fresh!! I know that seems silly to mention but most of the time these days eating out you’re getting frozen/heated food. And the quality of the food definitely deserves recognition! The service was wonderful!! We 110% would make the drive again just to eat here.“

The eggs Benedict was excellent! Only complaints besides the wait are: it’s not set up well for winter, with a cold draft every time the door opens, and way too large servings. I suppose some people like that but nobody needs a 4-egg omelette, and that’s all they have on the menu.“
