Was absolutely excited to try this place out and even more excited that it was open on New Years Day!!! The only downfall is their attempt to have other options. This is a grilled cheese spot so while they try to have a variety with their bowls stick to what they specialize in. Sandwiches are a bit pricey but because we enjoyed it so much I do not mind paying what we paid. Service was pleasant & warm which was nice on a day like New Year's Day. We were flying out in a couple of hours & took 2 sandwiches to go! Perfect idea considering that most place (at least 97%) were closed in the airport.

Nothing special or great about this place. Average food, average service. The buffalo chicken melt was okay at best with limited flavors, the loaded tater tots tasted liked the old tater tots given at elementary school in the 90’s.

I had the Cali-melt. It has turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese and avacado smash. Omg so delicious! Big sandwich too. I love the vibe here also. The staff is so friendly and chill. I had nice conversation while waiting for my food. I will be back again soon.

My fiance ordered the grilled cheese with bacon and I ordered a cuban. The sandwiches were pretty big and very filling. I highly recommend a visit to UMelt. Grab an official Rhode Island soda to wash it all down.

What happened to this place? Used to be the best in town, now they're never open and when they are the food and service are not the same, who is in charge? What happened to the guy in charge? he did a good job since I stopped seeing him they open and close when they want, the food is barely edible, Mac and cheese cold like a piece of cement. Not to mention the two employees argued the whole time I was there, the girl went and wiped her baby's snot before going back to cooking without washing her hands. Disgusting this place went downhill fast save your money unless you like parasites or have a grudge against your bowels

First time stopping by today and had an amazing lunch and the service was hands down the best. Jason greeted us and was extremely friendly and personable. Dylan made our food which was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. Fee was also friendly and accommodating. Overall I can say it was was great first experience and we will 100% be back! Thanks!

Wow, what an incredibly positive first time experience my girlfriend and I both had this past Sunday at UMelt! Jason, Fee, and Dylan were all very outgoing, funny, friendly, and helpful. The three of them went above and beyond for us which made our time there one of the more memorable ones I have had at an establishment in quite some time. Yes all three of them were professional but, more importantly, they all had a laid back and amicable approach that automatically made us feel like we were right at home. And I haven't even gotten to the food yet!Both of the grilled cheeses we got were very very tasty - I got the one with a few different cheese styles. It was one of the best grilled cheeses I've ever had. The tomato bisque was top notch quality as well. All in all, our experience at UMelt Providence was easily one of the best I've ever had at any restaurant/sandwich shop.Without any hesitation I would recommend UMelt to anyone who loves a good grilled cheese and soup. My girlfriend and I most definitely will be going back there often. Make sure to say hi and give a good tip to Jason, Fee, and Dylan while you're at it too! They deserve it!

Visited this establishment for a company lunch. I ordered the UMac sandwich and there are not enough words to describe how that sandwich was THE BEST grilled cheese I've ever had in my life! There were 7 of us in our party and we were all floored by the pure deliciousness of our sandwiches!!! This is my go-to place now whenever I'm in RI! The service was top-notch and we gave a round of applause to the staff on our way out the door!

the Bbq mac n cheese melt was so good. I could only eat half. The staff was amazing and knowledgeable. I was new to the city and they helped me with my choices.

DO NOT EAT HERE! The employees tipped themselves 30% after I had placed my order (confirmed by the manager). I went back the next day to try and resolve the issue and was met with nothing but attitude and aggressive behavior. After the manager searched up my order #, he then confirmed that a 30% tip was added to the credit card statement (I tipped cash). The manager then said, “So what do you want me to do about it?” As if this was a usual occurrence. He seemed unbothered and ended up “refunding” me $3 (the fraudulent “tip” itself was more than $3). When I voiced my concern stating that $3 did not even cover the tip the manager shrugged his shoulders and proceeded to say, “well you ate the food, didn’t you?” Today I go to look at my bank statement just to realize I was “refunded” $0.00. I tried reaching out to upper management to resolve this issue, but it was to no avail. This is a terrible company with no morals, DO NOT EAT HERE!

My pesto melt bowl was practically ready by the time I finished paying. Cook overhead me ordering it and was ready so fast. Offered me a drink along with my meal and brought me napkins as well. Courteous and thoughtful staff. Would definitely go back.
