The burger and fries were DIVINE!! There was an outdoor patio by the bar. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and excited to talk about the building and city’s history- it was so nice to talk with them!! I didn’t catch their names but thank you to both of you for all the additional information and conversation!

Located with the iconic Mills House Inn, the Iron Rose is their primary signature restaurant. We stopped in for a nice breakfast prior to a walk tour of historic Charleston. The restaurant is quite large with three separate rooms, the first is primarily a bar with some banquets but facing the main courtyard with two additional high ceiling rooms beyond this one. We choose to sit in the first room for a nice view of the outdoor courtyard and ever-burning fireplace. The menu had classic options not extensive but not limiting either. For our meal Avocado Toast with Mushrooms (good...nice and tasty) and the Waffles (OK...but I found them on the dry and heavy side as they used what looked like a whole wheat brown flour). Service was pleasant (no issues with our server) but they appeared to be understaffed with such a big restaurant to service. Enjoy!

We booked an Easter Brunch reservation over a month in advance for a party of 8. When we arrived, we were informed that they weren’t serving their normal brunch menu, but rather an Easter buffet menu that cost $85/adult and $35/child. A meal that should have cost roughly $250 with tip ended up costing $800. We would have gone somewhere else, but we had reservations booked for the rest of the day and had a schedule to keep. We wouldn’t have been able to find any availability for a party of 8 on Easter without a long wait. The Easter brunch menu wasn’t even that appealing and the food was mediocre at best. It certainly wasn’t worth $85. I’ve been to several buffets and $55 or $65 per adult would have been more reasonable for the menu served. The desserts were clearly store bought and some were even still frozen in the middle. Iron Rose should have at least reached out to let us know ahead of time about the menu change or still offered some items from their normal brunch menu. Lastly, if you try to call this restaurant, you won’t be able to get anyone on the phone. You will either have to leave a voice message or email and hope they respond.

Service was not that great. The waiter forgot to ask for drinks, didn't replace the cutlery that she took away between servings. Overall pretty distracted and inattentive service. The appetizers were ok, but the grouper dish was mediocre. It was basically a fish soup not at all like what the description made you believe.I just don't understand where all the 5 stars reviews came from.

amazing!! Great great food and a nice outdoor dining area. Our waiter was kind and seemed happy to serve us. We started off with the picked shrimp app which was sooo good. For my main fish I got the market fish which was seriously amazing. We got some veggies for the table as well to share. I would highly recommend this place! Beautiful hotel as well.
