Poogans Porch continues to impress with each visit. Returning for the third time over several years, I'm consistently met with exceptional food and service. While the fried chicken with collards and peas remains a favorite, I ventured to try the catch of the day—flounder with grit cake and asparagus—and was blown away, particularly by the amazing grit cake. Biscuits melted in your mouth and the buttery flavor was delicious. Server was friendly and attentive even though the restaurant was very busy. Seems like a missed opportunity with the walls being bare and not having any history about the place or Charleston itself. It's worth a stop. The banana pudding pancakes were scrumptious and very rich. Huge portion! Definitely a shareable dish but you won't want to.
