We were given a tip on this restaurant. While tough to get a table it was quickly obvious why. We had the rabbit roulade and the steak w wild mushrooms, but just as good as the main courses were the lamb dumpling appetizers. It was also a beautiful, refined atmosphere with top notice service.

We had a 5:45 pm reservation tonight - an early dinner on a chilly Tuesday night in December. For some inexplicable reason, we were seated up a looong flight of stairs at a table for two in the corner of a looong empty room, in what was, at that hour, an empty restaurant. Why? Our server was ill-prepared but attentive, so no real complaints on that score. I ordered a dry martini with 2 olives, which tasted like they had been frozen and barely defrosted. I couldn’t eat them. Appetizers (grilled oysters and a Caesar salad) and entrees (a nouveau type pasta and “snowy” grouper, whatever that is) were good but not great. No desserts, and a bill in excess of $180. Not a restaurant we would bother trying again.

Husk is a difficult place to get a reservation, but next door is a charming old Husk bar that will provide a limited menu. Walking in is like stepping back in time as the buildings character is so early 1800's. The bar is not large, but there are tables upstairs for larger groups. All that is imssing is a fireplace. We ordered the specialty Hell's Belles, the Freehouse brown and a Crown on the rocks. The ladder two were very good. We requested a mild Hell's as we were told it was hot. Even at a so called third reduction, it could make your eyes water. Not bad for a colder night, but not the best choice. We ordered the snapper crudo and a basket of fries as a snack. The crudo was very good, but not a generous portion. All told it was a pleasurable way to wind down an evening!

This is an adorable spot in downtown Charleston. We felt welcome and our server was very kind. They take great care in using local food. My partner had a pork pastrami sandwich. I had a type of duck hash (can't remember the name). We shared apple beignets. My partner also had a tasty mimosa. For those who visiting for the first time, there is a garage a short walk down the street where you can park. For those who need special access, there are stairs to get into the restaurant, but there is a special access bathroom. It would seem easy to accommodate those with walkers or wheelchairs once up the stairs. We were there in December and it was a bit rainy, but it looks like there may be limited outdoor seating in the warmer months.

Did not live up to the hype. We spent 4 nights in Charleston and this was our least favorite meal by far. Our waiter seemed uncomfortable/unprepared and the food was “meh.” Lamb dumplings, snapper, and rabbit were all unremarkable in every way.. Their best days seem to have passed. With so many other great restaurants delivering top shelf experiences that hit on all cylinders, take a pass.

Great inventive food! The shrimp toast was amazing and unique. The swordfish chorizo pasta was also one of a kind. The service was professional, personable, and excellent. I'm excited to come back someday!

I liked Husk and I very much liked the way all food items are locally sourced, and I mean all items down to the eggs and cheeses. The menu is inventive but be forewarned, the food is very rich. Glad we tried it but I couldn’t eat like this too often. We had the lamb dumplings appetizer, rabbit roulade wrapped in ham, and duck with dirty rice. All were very good but as I said, a lot of rich meats. Rabbit was cooked sous vide and fork tender btw.

The restaurant itself is very nice and relaxing. The wait staff are all friendly and attentive. We went for brunch on a Saturday. Be sure to make a reservation! We had the pimento cheese omelet; excellent! The peppered bacon, great especially if you like pepper. Only item I would warn you about is the biscuits and gravy. Good portion, biscuits are good, but the sausage gravy is way too heavy on the sage. Way way too heavy! You will be remembering ALL day long! I recommend the Huck but don’t fear asking questions about menu items.

I loved everything about this restaurant and see why you have to book early for a table. Everything from the ambience, the service and the food was top notch. The food was delicious! Definitely listen to recommendations from the wait staff, because they know what they're talking about. I highly recommend this gem!

I'd say it was 3 1/2 stars. We went for my son's Birthday for brunch. We got the country ham and biscuits appetizer, which was overall good. The biscuits were decent (a bit dense) the house pickles very good, the country ham outstanding. I expected better. I got the coffee rubbed pork with hash brown and eggs, my son got the duck confit fried rice. His dish was topped with an egg, mine came with 2 eggs. We asked for over easy eggs. The dishes were presented nicely, but the eggs on both were overdone. I told our server and there didn't seem to be much concern, nor an offer of correction. I can say the pork and potatoes on my dish were outstanding and his fried rice was delicious. Since it was my son's birthday, I thought they may give him a small dessert or something, but that didn't happen. We've been to many upscale dining places in different states and, if it's a birthday, there is almost always something given to acknowledge that you picked their place for an important day. We both drank water and it was $98 with tip, so I'd say cost was at the upper level. While we enjoyed the dishes overall, it was not at the level I would expect for a dining establishment with its reputation. Therefore, we probably wouldn't go back, given the excellent choices available in Charleston.

Underwhelming. Pretentious. Overpriced. Try somewhere else. We wish we did. The only fun we had was chuckling over how they somehow got the idea they were a good restaurant. They explained one nearly inedible dish as being “typical southern cooking”. We’ll try Hanks next time.

Everything was amazing! Food was excellent and the service was top notch. Do not miss this venue. We all had the rabbit which was heavenly. The menu changes daily so take that into account.

Husk knows how to make every plate a delicious venture into the world of the chef & staff. I fell into a deep state of ethereal pleasure upon my first bite and didn't come down from the high- until I was back to the hotel. I NEVER finish everything on my plate. But, Husk unleashed it's power upon my palate and did not relent. If you enjoy undulating waves of culinary rapture, enter the world of Husk. Resistance is futile, as they say. Lastly, thank you to Nina. She was an excellent wait companion and infused the experience with a lovely effervescence. Thank you, Husk!
