“Amazing! I spent my summers as kid in Orangeburg. I’m originally from North Carolina. It was in Orangeburg, where I’ve learned about South Carolina’s mustard based BBQ. There is absolutely hands-down nothing better than Dukes BBQ on Whitman. No one can re-create what this restaurant does. From their quarts of sweet tea (the sweetest in the South) to the best BBQ in the Carolinas. Dukes on Whitman is the REAL deal.“
“Dukes BBQ on Chestnut Rd is run by members of the Earl Dukes family. Remember Mr Earl as a neighbor of my parents who lived on the corner of the street that went to his house. Remember his starting the business and so glad his family has carried on the business that has the good ole hash and BBQ meat. I have lived out of town for many years but when I get a chance I go to Orangeburg I go to the Chestnut Street one. Ann is always so nice and is the first one you will talk to when you order "to go " BBQ or eat at the buffet. It has always been a favorite of my family.“
“Delicious and the staff are super nice! The orange sauce, fried chicken, and hash were outstanding. Got some banana pudding to go as well all had full bellies.Kid-friendliness: The woman there was so nice, calmed our cranky 2yr old down in a heartbeat.“
“The food is authentic soul food and fabulous...greens, yams, cabbage, rutabagas, fried chicken, fried pork chops, fried fish and banana pudding!!! Felt like I was at home in S GA with Mae!!!! My heart is happy and my stomach is extremely satisfied and FULL! Will definitely come back and the drive will be worth it!“
“Made a stop at the beer garden after visiting the Edisto Memorial Gardens earlier today. It's a short walk between the two sites and we felt like having some refreshments. This was my first time visiting in quite some time. Now, there is a full bar, good beer selection, and a functioning kitchen. We ordered fried fish (flounder), wings (garlic Parmesan), and fries. Everything was prepared well and tasty. We also sampled some beer. I chose to have a flight which included 3 beers - 2 hazy IPAs from the Carolinas (one was from Wicked Weed), and a pale blonde ale. After we placed our orders, we sat at a table with an umbrella, and our food was brought out to us with the drinks. Service was friendly and prompt. Although we had parked around the corner, there is ample parking at the venue. The grounds at the beer garden are spacious and inviting. We enjoyed a quick round of cornhole before leaving. This is a fun place to grab a beer, get a bite to eat, meet up with friends, or get some fresh air. Check it out!“
