The plates were huge and the portions were big and the owner and waitress were super friendly and nice - don't let the outside scare you away as it was worth every dollar for all four of us to eat there

My husband and I first went to this restaurant 4 years ago and were blown away by the food and atmosphere. Amazing! A hole in the wall, authentic Honduran/Mexican restaurant. Went back here recently, (august 2022) and left very disappointed. My husband ordered the same exact menu item as our first visit (the fried chicken and fried bananas) and I ordered the supreme nachos. We waited quite a while while other tables who entered before us were served. When we finally got our food…My husbands chicken appeared to be ALL the leftover “backs” from the chicken. All bones. I personally watched other tables who ordered the same exact dish (it’s their most popular dish), cut their chicken with forks and knives. My husband didn’t want to complain, he just ate what he could and we left. My nachos were very good but, how hard is it to mess up nachos anyway? We will never go back there which, for us, is sad, as we love and appreciate all culturally authentic cuisine.

This might be some of the best fried chicken i've ever had. The Chicken is incredible and the Plantains and Cabbage salad on the side are so good. Tacos here are also great, an all around great authentic experience.

Me and my fiancé ate there moments ago. This place totes a lot of seating, good music, beer, as well as a mini-market inside. Expect large portions as we ordered Carne Asada w/ shrimp. Wow. Delicious. Parking spaces do look limited. The waitress knew enough English to understand what we were asking for and was very polite. We will definitely eat here again.

El Tipico has delicious food, wonderful queso, and a little store inside with some necessities and medications. They serve wonderful food, and they have some fountain drinks and some canned. The staff are friendly and attentive. I believe they serve the best Mexican food in Knoxville. 10/10 recommend!
