“This is a staple for us when it comes to business lunches. The service and food are always incredible. The food is always so fresh and the menu changes per season, which is awesome. Highly recommend! Great for business and romantic meals alike.Dietary restrictions: They ask if you have any every time.“
“I placed a large catering order from Bala's bistro and I was extremely impressed with the quality of the food! My order was ready at the right time (even though I had to change the pickup time from my original order) and packaged up perfectly to serve at my event. Everyone LOVED the food! I can't wait to go back for lunch with my family. Thank you to your staff for making my event a success!“
“This is one of my Monday lunch spots that goes in and out of my rotation. It will fade off my radar and then I will remember to get by here and I'll go a couple of times a month for a while. They serve a rotating menu based on the day of the week. I have been on other days, but I like the side choices best on Mondays. My go to is usually Smothered Pork Chops. My sides vary a bit, but I regularly get Northern Beans, Mac & Cheese, and Cream Corn. There seems to be a sweetness to everything I've eaten. Sometimes it can be a bit much and will sometimes spur my hiatus. Everyone is so friendly here. I've never encountered a single employee that wasn't cheerful and efficient. In all honestly, it's better than most places I go, anywhere in Memphis. It's cafeteria style, so you walk down the line and choose what you want. You can tell how fresh it is before you choose and I dig that. Dining room is good. Watch your step, platforms in and out of the booths. Someone will come get your plate and trash. They are always there to make sure you enjoy your food. I'll be back for sure.“
“The restaurant was laid back and not too busy. We could communicate with our waiter about our needs. This burger was delicious! They didn't offer the preference of how the patty was cooked so I think it was well-done. French fries were crispy and additional salt is not needed.“
“Casual dining, the food was tasty. I had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, Pan seared catfish, braised greens and Mac and cheese. Nice serving size. You can order drinks that are not listed on the menu. The staff were very friendly.“
“Divine Delight: A Heavenly BBQ Bologna SandwichIn a world where culinary experiences often leave one seeking something more, I stumbled upon a revelation at hernado's hideaway diner – the BBQ Bologna Sandwich with Cheese. This humble creation transcends the ordinary, offering a taste that borders on the divine. From the first bite, I was transported to a realm where smoky barbecue flavors mingle with the comforting richness of bologna and the creaminess of cheese. Each element harmonized seamlessly, creating a symphony of flavors that danced on my palate. But what truly sets this sandwich apart is its subtle, yet unmistakable, religious undertone. As I savored each mouthful, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude, as if the hands that crafted this masterpiece were guided by a higher power. It's as if every ingredient was blessed with a touch of celestial magic. The bologna, sliced just right, embodies the essence of redemption – taking a humble meat and elevating it to a celestial status. The cheese, melted to perfection, serves as a reminder of the comforting embrace of faith, enveloping the sandwich in a warm embrace. And let us not forget the barbecue sauce, a divine elixir that imbues the sandwich with a righteous tang, leaving a lingering sense of fulfillment long after the last bite.In a world filled with culinary chaos, the BBQ Bologna Sandwich with Cheese offers a sanctuary of flavor, a testament to the power of simplicity and faith. It's more than just a meal; it's a spiritual experience that nourishes both body and soul.“
“It is a good place to get a unique burger and fries. The challenge seems a bit extreme for me but if you have 4 people that can put it down then give it a whirl. Or you can do the one by yourself. Was good food. Not a fan of the fries a bit too much oil for me.“
“This neighborhood place was a shocking great time! It wasn't fancy nor huge, but the vibe was easy pure soul and rich blues. The band was on fire! First the waitresses were serving hand patted burgers, golden hot catfish, and fries. Next- they'd hit the dance floor! Then, I was dancing too! It's a byob and I didn't even know that. The food was so good, I've been since for a late night hot meal rather than a drive through. I had so much fun that I came back with my party and celebrated my birthday. It was a blast! Big Don, Chloe, and the house band shut it down! With BYOB the price was right and everyone was into it.“
“A must visit for your Memphis trip or girl's night. Everything was delicious. Our server was amazing. I had the Shake Baby Shake frozen coffee cocktail- delicious and not too sweet. Make sure to get the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. I was nearing full at the end of the meal but could not say no to the gelato. We had the basil and olive oil and raspberry marshmallows. Bot delicious.“
“This is an amazing hidden gem in downtown Memphis. The food is amazing and Chef Cole is a wonderful and kind being. I will definitely return to try more of the amazing food that is being prepared here!!Vegetarian options: The veggie wrap is amazing!!“
“Delicious meal in an upscale setting (inside). Salmon was prepared terrific with a light glaze and decent portion. The table enjoyed an assortment of appetizers which everyone enjoyed the baked brie as well as the tuna tartar. Solid wine selection and good desserts which the table thought the key lime pie was best. Attentive service. A good place to entertain clients, family or have a romantic dinner.“
“Nice location with really nice staff, a great atmosphere and ability to order some items from the steakhouse. We had some super fresh oysters and tasty burgers and cocktails. Overall price, quality, and service was a must come back. The onion soup was killer!“
“Phenomenal burger. Cooked perfectly. Butter and toasted buns on point. Creamed spinach was delish. Tina's service was on point throughout the dining experience. I totally recommend this location to anyone desiring a good beer, great food combined with amazing service. 5 ?.“
“2 Star JR gets 5 stars across the board. Saucy wings for lunch, and an awsome Philly cheese steak sandwich for breakfast the next day on the return visit. They also have the best koolaid, the fountain of youth. I will visit here again the next time i'm in “
“I travel to Memphis every week for work - the Memphian and the Complicated Pilgrim is "home away from home". If this is home, then Tasia is like my favorite neighbor! When you come here, definitely ask for her. She is lovely, quick, and a genuine hard worker (I think she is here almost every day). We ate here for the first time because it is convenient, but we keep coming back because of great staff and people like Tasia! Plus, the fries are ~excellent“
“Like a Sunday afternoon in your best friend's back yard. Be sure to catch the Grassfire Bluegrass band live. We saw them on Sunday (11-3). Smoked turkey wings, cold draft beer, lots of space indoors and out. Authentic historic vibe in the converted locksmith and converted carriage house located in 4 acres. Staff was friendly but I put only 4 stars for service because it's self-service. No table service.“
“We flew in from Michigan just for Dory and this is without a doubt a culinary experience you won’t regret. From start to finish this entire meal beat our expectations. Chef Krog took his time to come by our table a talk worn us during closing. Attention to detail is second to none.“
“Had an amazing brunch. Arrived around 10:30ish am and had a 15 minute wait. Our server was very attentive and the food was great and didn't take long to come out. The freshly squeezed orange was my favorite!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian scramble“
“The Special at Zinnies always taste’s like it was stolen from a kitchen in Heaven. It doesn’t matter what it is from meatloaf on mashed potatoes with a side of Brussel sprouts to roasted chicken with a spinach rice pilaf it is 5 stars every single time.“
“Decided to stop here for a late night drink. Rocky, the substitute bartender, was fantastic!! He wasn't suppose to work that night, but I'm so glad he did! The drinks were great! This is a major compliment coming from a New Orleans native. So stop at this bar and hopefully Rocky will be your bartender! Thanks Rocky!“
“The beer was good, even though I’m not a beer lover person. The inside was cozy, and laid back- perfect for a date or a dinner with friends. Usually breweries don’t have good food, while this place is so different. Their restaurant is terrific. We started with some shrimp appetizer- it’s actually like Spanish gambas Al Ajillo although their name on the menu was different - wood oven shrimp. I can’t recommend enough. They serve the shrimp in a spicy oil with some bread. Don’t forget to dip the bread in the oil - it’s in the next level. Totally 10/10. Next I got a blackened catfish dish for the main course which was pretty decent too. My other friends were also quite happy with their dinner entrees. We finished the meal with a brownie and ice cream. It was also pretty decent, however nothing over the top. If you are here try their beer and wood oven shrimp. Thank me later :)“
“Once again, a great dinner at Magnolia in May. Really good service from our waitress, and it wasn't noisy tonight, so it was easier to talk to my dinner companion than sometimes is the case. The chocolate gelato was very good, although I wish I could have one of their gluten filled desserts like the bread pudding. Definitely great to go during happy hour when you get half-price wine! I might skip the deviled egg since there wasn't much deviled about it. Wonderful outing!“
“My husband and I aren't fans of buffets under normal circumstances but we were given free breakfast by the hotel so we figured, why not? We came down for Saturday breakfast buffet and scored a very nice booth right across from the buffet area. Our friendly waitress immediately brought coffee and juice and checked on us throughout the meal and removed the plates, etc. She was a sweetheart. She even brought me a mug to include in my instagram pic that said "Guest House at Graceland" while I was taking pics of my guitar waffles, lol. The choices are great - they had eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, biscuits, gravy all warm in the warming station. They also had a waffle bar and omelette bar you could order made fresh for you. My husband had a HUGE omelette and enjoyed it. The waffle was good and had a guitar in the center. They had a side bar with fresh fruits, yogurt, parfait and cereal and milk. The food was very good, warm, fresh and constantly being refilled. Inside seating is nice, tabletop was nice, and the decor is nice. It was very clean. We actually really enjoyed the meal and commented it was way above expectations.“
“A hidden gem for great tasting food. This was an order and take home meal for us. The hush puppies were gone before we made it to the driveway. I had a vegetable plate. I absolutely loved the flavor of the asparagus. My husband had the carribean jerk chicken Alfredo. It is wonderful if you Lome some "heat" in your life. He also got carribean jerk wings for lunch.“
“J. Alexander never disappoints !! Food, Service and Atmosphere always top notch !! For dinner we had the Lasagna and the Cilantro Shrimp both were very very tasty. Also had the Carrot Cake for dessert and it was EXCELLENT !!Highly recommend J. Alexander.“
