“I got the Yellow Curry, and it was delicious. Not too sweet and the right flavors in a large bowl. Came with a huge serving of rice to soak up all the sauce and flavor. I’m visiting from a small town in Az, and I’m always looking for a good Thai restaurant. This one hit the mark.“
“We came here during Chinese new year and the tea house was closed bc of the festivities. There were a couple of outdoor tents that had food to purchase. Plenty of variety and were delicious. The temple had a few activities and crafts to buy. Very cool place, looking forward the the tea house next time.“
“Ordered their bento box and upgraded to purple rice. Total of 8 dollars or 7.5 for white rice as of Dec, 2023. Would recommend the steam egg, tofu, the beef with carrots and radish, and braised chicken. Very nice for the price. Will come back!“
“Their loaded fries were the best thing hands down; runner ups would be the chicken sandwiches and popcorn chicken! We also had their soda series and they were both very tasty and refreshing. The only issue was the lack of seating inside the store as well as the turn around time for the food.“
“MY FAVORITE DESSERT IN CHINATOWN SO FARRRR!!! It's not like the other shaved ice desserts i've tasted because instead of a snow cone ice texture it's more like shaved sorbet/ice cream, but I think you could get either here! W service, took around 5-9 minutes to receive. W ambience, cute store, nice workers, lots of seating! Overall DUBS!!!“
“The food tasted good but not really authentic. The price was very good and satisfying; recommended to visit and try. There were boba drink and shaving ice sold in the restaurant.Parking: The parking lot shared with various shops and restaurants. Usually difficult to find the parking space“
“Star Chef has a variety of dumplings you can order. They have steamed (vegetable, pork, or chicken), pan fried pork, and deep fried pork or chicken. ThI've tried all of the ones that Star Chef has and enjoy each one. You can get a mixed dozen for $9.99 plus tax but it's a good portion. They also have an excellent WonTon soup! Their customer service is impeccable and they go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience each and every time.“
“Inside is pretty spacious though tight for large group. You order upfront kr through kiosk. They have a variety of selections between noodles and rice plates. Portions are pretty reasonable for price though it did get a bit smaller/less meat for noodle soups as prices rose slightly. Wish they have the soup spoons bc plastic is a hassle to use.. They have complementary tea and self serve hot sauce (chili oil, sriracha). Food tastes good overall. Usually order beef noodle soup, seafood noodle soup, fried chicken/pork with rice, or grilled chicken/pork served on black grill dish (?) with rice that comes with side salad, and highly rec the spicy fried squid. Always a place to go for an affordable meal.“
“The rice ball with extra fee for purple sticky rice. I love rice ball because it accompanies me through my teen year. I used to go to the local market to buy the rice ball for my breakfast. The cold soy milk tastes like home. I could have two cup of them. The traditional noodle bowl is ok. The least like dish is the juicy dumpling because it’s not juicy at all. Where is the soup?“
“We were very impressed with the small plates for around $5 each. The calamari was thick slices which were perfectly cooked to crispy breading with delicate tender ? squid rings, obviously hand made. the shrimp ? tempura was amazing and perfectly cooked. Even the popcorn chicken ? was crispy with moist and tender meat and a nicely seasoned breading and generous portion. All the above were served with a sweet chili sauce (not very hot), but they were so tasty and didn't really need any dippy sauce. The only disappointment was mozzarella sticks which were a bit under cooked and not molten cheese, but I know they are tricky to get the timing just right. 30 seconds too much and all the cheese starts leaking out, so undercooked is still better than empty shells. we ate it anyway and didn't even ask them to fix it ?, served with marinara. The drinks were good. I got the lychee tea which is iced green tea with lychee gel and fresh diced lychee and ordered with no added sugar. Kevin got Thai Tea and said it was very good.We played a game of chess (I won ?) and listened to some other patrons singing karaoke ? (very loudly). When they were done the ambiance switched to a much softer music. There are three tables outside now that the weather is getting nicer.Parking: Strip center with lots of available parking including one nearby ♿ stall.Wheelchair accessibility: Front entrance has cafe tables against the building. Ramp required a sharp turn right and some larger chairs may not make it. Kevin was able to get up the ramp and inside in his electric chair without any problems. It should be fine if you are going in for a short time. But the entry path to the single ? restroom was blocked by a fish tank and a drink cooler to a passage less than 2' wide. I wanted to let people know that is not wheelchair accessible.“
“This place is a classic of Houston Chinatown. They have been around a while and you can't even tell cause they actually spent some dollars to update the place. We got the spicy chicken nuggets combo and the braised pork rice combo. Both were good, I think the spicy chicken nuggets has a nice crisp and spicy coating which is very authentically Taiwanese. The braised pork rice is a bit on the sweet side. For $11 dollars a combo, you get food and a drink, which is a pretty good deal!“
“They changed three times locations and finally I had a chance to come. To be honest, their old locations were not that good that why I didn't go. But this time I am glad I came. Taste is above chinatown's average level and for this price for this much food is great deal. Try the very very long frech fried.“
“The pork and the beef dumpling tasted great. I also took out the frozen pearl meatballs, pork with vegetable buns, Siu-Mai and pan fried chive buns. The cashier/owner was very friendly and helpful.Parking: It may be difficult to find the parking the most close to the restaurant. You can still find the parking a bit far away from the restaurant.“
