Don't miss these La Porte Mexican restaurant gems.
“The weekends are very busy in the morning. Head out early because sometimes they sell out the tamales and barbacoa plus the line can carry outside. I believe they open at 5. I go once a month. I typically buy a pound of Barbacoa, a medium cup of refried beans, Pico or salsa and a dozen hand made fluor tortillas. The cost is about $25 and feeds about 4. I am mentioning this because some ppl think they only sell single tacos. They also sell plates and have an area to sit at if you choose to eat their but its not a restaurant so dont expect to get service while eating there and clean up after yourself or simply carry food to go. They have a meat market if you want to take food home to grill or cook yourself. I like buying the fajita meat there, they thin it out for you if asked. The food is good and for me it's cheaper than going out to a restaurant.Parking: If you go during the wknd about 9 AM, parking lot is full.Wheelchair accessibility: No“
“This place is the very definition of “hidden gem.” It’s tucked away inside a small gas station. Small place but BIG flavor!! I had two carne guisada tacos after asking for a recommendation, and they did not disappoint. Best tacos I’ve had in a long time.“
“Omg the BEST Restaurant ? I've been to other Gringos and wasn't happy and waiting all the time. The waiter was Awesome and made sure my Family and I was taken care of! The service was great on Sunday Evening of February 25th. Drinks were really great I have a new place to eat and enjoy life... The Boss was great he was helping the staff he had and seen that I was trying to order a to go and he came over. Customer service is the best I could ever ask for... They treat people how they wanna be Treated! Thank you and I will return ?“
“Great. Price is a bit higher than some other places, $3.99, but these are the best. A small pork and green salsa is way over stuffed and very flavorful. It has a bit of a bite so you must like spicy. You now must order inside at the back and pay at the convenience store register and come back for your order. They give you more green salsa, which you take home and use on something else, no room in that taco. The best flavor, very messy, not cheap.“
“The food at El Toro is great. This is where I come when I want a more authentic Mexican meal. I love love love the Pasole Rojo. The atmosphere is ordinary & when it is crowded, it can be so loud it is difficult to carry on conversations.“
“Our first time here...food was great and didn't wait long. Order was slightly wrong & it was totally okay...our server, Arleth went above and beyond and gave us the same order to go, on the house!!! Definitely coming back!! FYI El Sapo is gooood!“
“I absolutely love this place. If there’s 100 fans of this taco truck, I’m one of them. If there’s none, I am no longer alive. The food? Exquisite. The Aqua Fresca? Fresh. It’s a decadent experience. I call in orders and they are constantly so sweet and always answer fast.“
