Honduran Pork Tamale Cooked in a Banana Leaf

“I love it when I find a "hole in the wall" gem of a place. I passed it up and had to back track a little to get there; It was worth it. It's small with about 10 tables inside. I was warmly greeted and quickly tended to. Their menu provided several items from different Central American countries and Mexican food too. I ordered their typical breakfast which consisted of fried sweet plantains, sour cream, 2 eggs, slice of cheese and avocado, and black refried beans. It reminded me a lot of Costa Rican style breakfast. It was very hearty. I also ordered one of the Honduran tamales and was pleased to find it had rice, Porto, potatoes, shredded carrot and peas. They also have Aguas frescas and 2 are not the normal ones you find in most Mexican restaurants. I orders the nance drink and was very pleased. If you're looking for something different and want to try cuisine from Central America, I highly recommend you get a shrimp and cheese pupusa, Honduran tamal, and one of their aguas frescas.“
