“Ok so I've loved wake the dead for years. It's a San Marcos staple. Atmosphere/environment (both inside and outside) are amazing. My go to place to work or study. Food? Great. Service? ALWAYS on point...My only thing is... The prices have gotten out. of. hand. I mean, I understand that inflation is happening, it's a thing. Everyone talks about how Starbucks is expensive, and I understand that prices at a local shop are probably gonna be a bit more because they have to support their own... And I'll still try and support wake the dead as much as I'm financially able to but it's getting to a point where I don't think I can afford it anymore. At all.The pic below .. that coffee was $8 and some change. For the SMALLEST cup. That's wiiiiild. Truly. .Idk, anyway, I love wake the dead but the prices have gotten a bit insane.“
“Lamppost isn't just another local gem; Recommended by locals, I decided to give it a try, and it quickly became my newest favorite spot. The caring atmosphere is evident from the moment you step inside. Not only are the baristas incredibly kind and attentive, but they also go the extra mile by thinking about our furry companions. With pet treats and water bowls readily available, even our four-legged friends feel at home. And for the little ones in tow, Lamppost offers activities to keep them entertained while you enjoy your coffee and become "dezombified." It's the perfect place for families to unwind and recharge. And let's talk about the coffee – the Lamba latte is an absolute must-try. Each sip is a burst of flavor that leaves you craving more. Highly recommended for anyone seeking quality coffee and genuine hospitality.“
“Wow, just wow. There are some restaurants which get everything right and ofcourse deserve 5 stars across the board but there are a few restaurants which just amaze you by the story of the folks running the show AND going above and beyond. This is exactly that place. A bunch of westerners claiming to run an Indian restaurant in a sleepy German town in the United States. And not only have they claimed they have conquered preparing and serving Indian food.I stepped into the restaurant without much expectations and hesitantly ordered the chicken trio, which is comprised of:1. Chicken curry2. Chicken tikka masala3 butter chickenFor appetizers, ordered the chicken 65 and the loaded samosas.First came the chicken 65, which was decent. Then the samosas, which were amazing, just like the way how it’s supposed to be back in India. The channa masala and the yogurt were perfect on the delicious samosas. The butter chicken - I can promise you, you cannot get butter chicken of this quality, texture and taste back at home in India at even one of the better restaurants. The chicken curry - just perfect. The chicken tikka masala - delicious.Beyond the food, the simplicity with which we were served the food. The friendly and openness of the servers was cherry on the top.I would recommend North street curry shop to anyone looking for top notch Indian food.“
“A really cute little gem! Stopped in for a quick bite to-go. Staff was warm and welcoming and the Parisian sandwich hit the spot. The secret garden is precious, and they’ve done a good job at preserving the historic character of the building.“
“I love this place. We go there at least once a week. It’s small but there are always families with young kids there on the weekend which makes us feel good since we have a Rowdy toddler.Their food is amazing and coffee is great. Highly recommend.“
“I just love this location! Whether I'm grabbing a quick coffee, or meeting up with a friend to catch up, this is one of my go-to spots. Everyone is so nice and friendly here. Sometimes, I show up not knowing what exactly I'm in the mood for, and they are so good at giving recommendations, and helping you narrow down what you want. I'm never disappointed with my drinks here.“
“This is by far the BEST coffee in San Marcos! They always have different monthly crafted drinks. They are also environmentally friendly by encouraging you to bring your own cup, ( which you get a discount for) this is everything to me. The baristas have always been very friendly, and the ambiance is great for studying :)“
“This is my new favorite place in San Marcos for breakfast and coffee. The staff was amazing and so kind! The food was delicious. I would highly recommend the breakfast sandwich and the breakfast tacos. They are good sized portions. The coffee was also really good. I got a capuchino with honey and my husband got an iced vanilla latte. The outdoor space is also amazing. They have a bunch of large picnic tables outside that would be good for larger group seating. Inside seating is more limited!“
“Went in for the first time earlier today, and I wish I could rate it ABOVE 5 stars! I got the Chai Tea Latte with oat milk, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had! It did NOT leave a chalky feeling/after taste like some chai does, and they have their ratios down! It was so yummy and hit the spot! Service was friendly and fast! Everyone had a smile on their face and I received my order quickly. The girl who took my order took the time to answer my questions about the non dairy options. The place it’s self is well kept and clean. I didn’t see anything gross or dirty and they keep their food behind glass and I didn’t see any flies! Great job y’all! I will be back!“
“Great place to study! I love their Shyster drink & caprese panini. Sometimes it's hard to find parking but they do have a small parking lot you can use if you're lucky. I like this spot and come here every now and then. I just wish they stayed open later.“
“My husband found this place and we tried their teas. So good!!! Their menu offered protein waffles and muffins as well. Right up my ally. They didn’t have any to try on Labor Day but we will be back to try those and protein coffee mix. Love supporting the smaller businesses.“
“I don't generally leave reviews, but I HAVE to shout out the team working this morning (3/20). I went to redeem my birthday drink and they completely made my day. They took the time to wish me happy birthday, write on my cup, give me a sticker, and even let me pick out my straw. They genuinely made me feel special and cared for. I wish I got their names - absolutely made my day! Thank you for going above and beyond.“
“The original location near the university is GREAT, don’t get me wrong, but the lack of a queue and easygoing wait is what makes this my favorite Mochas. Staff is always incredibly friendly and I can’t shop with my coffee or get in and get out without much hassle.“
“Best boba tea place in San Marcos! They have smoothies and other options as well. And there is a lounge with comfy seating to enjoy while you relax. Really great place and a wonderful substitute for those of us who don't drink coffee but want the coffee shop type of experience.“
“An amazing coffee shop I was a long term regular at. I moved away from San Marcos, but I stop there and get a frozen hot chocolate or one of their amazing seasonal drinks every time I visit. Good prices, great vibes, and its a local buisness.? Their pancake day was the highlight of my month.“
“You have to stop by, this place it is amazing!! I ordered a regular decaf no sugar coffee. My first sip, I was in Heaven. It was better than the other expensive coffee places out there. I was in awe of this cute, cozy nook that I didn’t think to take a picture. But no worries, because I will definitely be going back for more. I have found my new coffee shop. ?“
