“Absolutely delicious tacos filled with bistek, onions, fresh cilantro, avocado and Oaxaca cheese. Served piping hot with equally steaming charro beans. These were as good as any street tacos I've ever had. Dining room is a dusty porch with a couple of picnic tables but it was breezy and comfortable. I recommend!”

“I have been visiting Brownsville for work from many years and could not find a decent halal authentic Desi retsuarnt catering to the needs of Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi or Middle Eastern / Mediterranean food. Options were always limited to IHOP or Mexican Sea Food places.So happy to find this place this visit, which has opened only 3 to 4 months back.Nice decor and clean and hygienic run family owned restaurant. The owners are always to meet and greet customers. A large variety of authentic halal menu. We tried Dahi Bara, Chicken Biryani, Nihari and took White Chicken curry for take away for Sheri. All were good and had fabulous Masala Chai tea in the end. The decor and cutlery was high quality which the owners advised was all designed and arranged by their daughters.In short we enjoyed our stay and food and would always visit them whenever we are in Brownsville area. Only one suggestion is to start oven made fresh naans too in future if possible. May be I am expecting too much as visiting from Houston area.Syed Shahzad”

“I just found out about this hidden gem about 5 months ago and it never disappoints. From the food to the staff everything is great. Great environment with great energy. The food is some of the best flavor food I have had and it’s cheap. I started off with a pizza and have now even gotten items I had never ate before. “I found this bar by doing a search for a fruit bowl on Google maps. My husband likes these and we just moved to the area. Usually I go to Smoothie King, but the pictures for MOFI looked pretty cool...so when I got there and the mixologist was so great and helpful with answering my questions and making me feel welcome!! ☺️ I will be going back to purchase other wholesome/organic items that they sell!!”

“Came to visit my family. First time coming to eat at Calacas In Harlingen. Jessica is a superb waitress. Gave awesome service. Good was delicious. There was not a lot of waiting on the order. Love their patio setting outside. My family and I truly recommend everyone to stop by and have the delicious tacos, Pancho’s and the best Limonadas preparadas!!Parking: It’s parking lot is not only infront but also in the sides!Kid-friendliness: It’s a great place to come eat and hang with your kids.”

“A friend told us about this bakery. It is by far the BEST pan dulce I have ever had…and I’m 60 years old. I was in Olmitos for a visit and for our 3 hour drive home we picked up a few bags. It’s been 5 days now and I put the Pan dulce in my Tupperware container and it’s still soft. They had pan dulce we hadn’t heard of before. The lady behind the counter was very nice, she told us about each of our choices and the different fillings.You gotta stop by and pick some up ❣️??”

“This place makes you feel like you are in Mexico with the decor. Our wait person also didn't understand English, which added to the ambiance for us. The food was excellent, too. This was the first place where the salsa was too spicy for us, too.”

“Service at the bar is rather slow. The selection of food is pretty good. You have everything from tacos to bbq. Atmosphere can be tricky, weekends are the most populated days however the good music stops at 10 PM.”

“Heading back from South Padre we decided to give this place a shot. It's a simple restaurant with a small menu. The food was amazing! I ordered chilaquiles and a picadillo with cheese taco on the side. When the food came out, WOW! The taco was huge! It was at least 12 inches long and nice and full. The chilaquiles and picadillo was so good. I highly recommend giving this place a shot for breakfast.”

Through overcoming what Covid through at you, to reopening with limited staff, pushing through what life throws at you, the economy and it rising prices and now to your sister battling cancer(and she will persevere).Establishments like you are what we need in this town….in this world. For those that have never been, yes they are curbside. But in no way does that stop them from serving you the best, freshest food, with a smile. The food is just like grandma makes. It just makes you feel all warm and cozy, while certainly filling up the belly. My family and I love to order from here and we try to as often as we can. We love to support our local hidden gems and this restaurant is a GEM.I was compelled to write this review, because of a post on Facebook. Someone complaining of the prices of a fajita taco and they can get a better deal at Stripes. Psshh…..I DON”T THINK SO!! You cannot compare a homemade taco to a stripes taco, no way. Prices for food have skyrocketed to an unimaginable high. Gas is ridiculous! Adjustments have to be made and therefore prices must go up. They have families that depend on them. Have I ordered a fajita taco from Panchito’s…yes I have. It was the best and freshest fajita taco that I have ever had, at any local restaurant. Though I must say, the carne guisada on the large 16 inch tortilla, with rice, beans, lettuce and tomato, is my absolute favorite. The 16 inch carne guisada taco, on the menu is $18.99 and the 9 inch is $10.99. Is that too much for a taco? Not really. Is it worth it? 100% YES!! Will I order it again? ABSOLUTELY!!You pay for the quality of the food, the heart that goes into the cooking, the smile and warm greeting when it’s brought out to you. I will come back over and over again. In fact, I had Panchito’s for lunch today. I had their lunch special of Calabaza con Pollo and it was THE BEST! I may sound like I am over exaggerating but my taste buds don’t lie….and neither does my belly.With that said, Jeanie, THANK YOU. Thank you for providing your customers with excellent food and service. Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made to keep moving forward and providing Harlingen with the best homemade food. “This place is great, the service is that original, authentic southern hospitality service. You feel like your family or like you've known them for years. The other great thing is they have a special for each day. Today (Tuesday) is the brisket burger for $5.75. I ask for the fatty slices and thats what I always get. I order to take so they pack everything separate for me so I can prep and eat when I get home. They do have a dining area as well and it is the perfect Texas bbq dining area. I think Wednesday is the chicken plate special for $7.50. Not one complaint about this establishment. It is worth the visit, I highly recommend.”

“First timer here and I have to say, this place did not disappoint ? The staff was friendly, showing those beautiful smiles all around. I asked about certain items and the girl was very helpful. In the end, I walked out with a cheese Japanese cake and a milk tea boba which both were so good I recommend trying them, I was even disappointed in myself that I got a small boba lol instead of a large cause it was that good ? but like I say, foods and places are sometimes not everyone's cup of tea, you just gotta try it out for yourself!”
