Very authentic place. If you ever feel like you miss home cooking then this might be the place for you. Small restaurant. Decently clean and nothing new or modern looking. Service is decent. Just typical Asian older ladies that work there and take your order. Pricing is kind of expensive if you are thinking typical Chinese food but not bad for the quality and quantity. Overall all the dishes were good that we ordered. Soup dumplings: the skin was kind of too thick but at least it didn't bust when we tried picking it up. Braised pork belly with egg: if you're viet, it's thit kho. Boiled fish in spicy sauce: I don't like fish but it was good and tasted fresh because there was no fishy smell or taste. Very Szechuan-like with the peppers. Eggplant in garlic sauce was good. Good flavor, not too salty.

There was a roach in my food. I think that sums up the restaurant pretty well. Hard pass, don't come.

Updating my review because this restaurant is just that good! It's by far our favorite Chinese restaurant in Sugar Land, and definitely top 3 in Houston. I don't know how there's not a long line outside every day. My husband and I stopped in for lunch, and ordered Sweet & Sour Riblets, Beef Noodle Soup, and Tomatoes & Eggs (a Chinese household staple). Everything was amazing -- the riblets tasted even better than last time, the beef noodle soup was packed with flavor and enormous for only $12-14, and the tomatoes & eggs were the most flavorful I've ever had (sorry Mom). The service was also incredibly friendly. Would highly recommend if you're anywhere in SW Houston!

First time there. Pictures look way better than the food tastes. Ordered the Shanghai Sweet and Sour Pork. About $14 with tax. Tastes like it had been sitting in the freezer for 2 months before being cooked. You can't fool the taste buds. Not fresh at all! Business is "so-so" says the cashier/maybe owner. There's a reason for that: you're serving sub-par food and charging high prices.

My wife and I went here on a whim and we were not disappointed. I seemed to enjoy the food a bit more than her, but her overall impression was good. When we walked in to this tiny establishment, there was only 1 other table of patrons (3pm) and the restaurant was clean with football on. It took about 20 minutes for our food to come out, so we knew it was being cooked fresh unless it's part of some elaborate scam to trick us, haha. We ordered 4 items. Also, to people complaining that the food was too oily, this is common in the Szechuan style of cooking. You're not supposed to slurp down the oil, you pick out the bits to eat and maybe splash a little onto your rice and give it a little stir. It is a mom and pop shop so expect it to be a little slower, but it's always a good sign the see cooks and staff sit down at a table and eat their own menu items. 1. Mini wonton soup - exactly as described. These are smaller than normal wontons swimming in a soup alongside tiny salty little shrimp, crispy fried onions, and some nori. Good stuff. 7/10 2. Hot sauce boiled fish - similar to what other restaurants serve, it's a heaping serving of fish filets, cabbage, cilantro, celery, and a bunch of other stuff. It is served in a very oily, yes... oily spicy sauce with red peppers littered throughout. I found this to have more depth of flavor than other variants, not as much as that mouth numbing spice. 8/10 3. Eggplant in garlic sauce - While this dish in fact a little more oily than other establishment's versions, it did not stop it from being delicious. Just slap a piece on a spoonful of rice and enjoy. I personally like saucy rice, so I guess it didn't bother me. My wife's favorite dish of the night. 8/10 4. Shanghai style sweet and sour pork ribs - The name is a little misleading because it was not sour to me. It was more sweet and savory. The ribs were cooked well. I bit into one and ripped the meat off effortlessly while the rest clung to the bone. The sauce is thick because of whatever sugary component, but once the sweetness passes, the taste of soy shines through. Another winner for me. 8/10 Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. It is a little pricier than what you'd expect on Bellaire, but I'd come back.

Yeah. this place is a big no. We decided to try a random place for dinner and instantly regretted it once we got our food. The food was super greasy and made both my husband and I sick once we got home. Not a fan and it turned us off from home cooking Chinese food for a few months.
