“Ok. You might be thinking- it's so touristy, it's not worth it. But IT IS SO WORTH IT. They run this place like a well oiled machine. I thought we'd be waiting in line for like 30 minutes but we had our food & seated in maybe 10 minutes. The portions are very large, we go a family platter that feed *6 people* and we split it between 9 women and still has leftovers. Might be the way to go if you're with a party. Highly recommend, don't miss this spot. It's popular for a reason.“

“Had the pasta with some rosé and the blueberry cornbread for dessert. Wonderful veg comfort food after a long day, great outdoor space, wonderful service. They let me put up flyers too. I love their fair employment policy, will definitely be back!“

“Took our kids here while visiting San Antonio. Very delicious. All the kids commented that it was better than regular ice cream. My son even went back for seconds with his own money. Would definitely visit again. Wish I had one in my own town.“

“Cypress Grill is a HIDDEN GEM!!! The food and cocktails are consistently top notch with great service to match. The outdoor seating is so lovely anytime of year. The best part? They have GLUTEN FREE fried seafood (catfish, shrimp, crawfish, oysters) and it’s so good! I can’t recommend this place enough!!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options“

“Cute, chill hideaway ice cream store with unique ice cream flavors. I typically avoid dairy so it was a nice surprise that most or all of their ice cream was made from coconut milk. Will be back!Dietary restrictions: All the ice cream I saw was made from coconut milk, so non-dairy friendly“

“Salty Sow sets a warm, lively scene with its classic soundtrack, featuring artists like Michael Jackson and Journey. The place perfectly combines comfort with a bit of nostalgia. The meal started strong with the dirty fries, a standout dish. The combination of crispy fries, rich gravy, and creamy cheese sauce made for a fantastic appetizer (as showcased in the photo I took). While the beef shoulder and chicken thighs were delicious, the dirty fries were the true highlight, leaving a lasting impression. The service was excellent -- attentive without being intrusive. However, there was a minor issue with gnats and flies buzzing around, which was a slight distraction from the otherwise cozy atmosphere. Overall, Salty Sow delivers a delightful dining experience with great food and a friendly vibe, making it well worth a visit, especially for those fries.“

“I'm Haitian/Cuban Brooklynite and I've been looking for a place in Austin that will help with my Caribbean cravings for aLOOOOOOOOONG 6 years and WOW this place was definitely worth that wait. The flavors are layered, the meat is juicy and succulent the sauce is spectacular. The plantains and fries are fresh and crispy. You can tell that they care about the quality of their food. Now let's talk about presentation, just because they are food truck doesn't mean that they skimp on the visuals. I'm highly impressed and will definitely be back. So so so happy I found this gem ?“

“Stopped at this little food truck while we were visiting in Austin. So glad we did because it was so good. Hubby had the sausage and brisket sandwich and I had the sausage sandwich. Both were perfect. The meat melted in your mouth and was so well cooked it effortlessly pulled apart. And the sauce-AMAZING!“

“I wish I could leave more than five stars for the atmosphere. A few months ago I met Asher, who is a damn good Torchy’s server. The line was quite long during lunchtime, but Asher displayed a beautiful combination of being incredibly efficient, but also making me feel like I was the most important thing at that moment. His positive personality lends to great vibes in that location. Because of him, and of course, the damn good food, my routine has been to have lunch with my chemo buddies at Torchy’s every two weeks after my cancer treatments. I shared my bleak diagnosis with Asher, and he shared that he went through something similar with his mother. Because he is slightly older than my children, he gives great insight into what they may be experiencing. Every time I visit now, he is one more battle buddy, helping to heal my body with wonderful food and beautiful words of encouragement.“

“Had the avocado toast with a side salad and the star of the dish was the side salad cilantro-lime dressing. The dressing at the restaurant was a delightful surprise, perfectly balancing zest and herbaceous notes of mustard. The cilantro melded seamlessly with the zingy lime, creating a vibrant, tangy profile. Its creamy texture was spot on for the side salad.“

“The property is just beautiful and the atmosphere inside the house is lovely. We visited recently for lunch at 11am. We were seated promptly and service was very good.As far as the menu goes, there are some stand outs and definite "never agains." The Milk Punch French Toast was very tasty. So were the biscuits with strawberry butter and the pimento cheese appetizer. The pimento cheese was made with sharp cheddar and it was delish! The smoked salmon board was good. It's hot-smoked salmon and it was tasty. The salads were very expensive if you want protein, so I opted for the breakfast plate. That was a big mistake. The HUGE let down was the breakfast plate. The wild boar sausage was very dry. The potatoes were so over-seasoned that they really ruined the palate for the rest of the food. For the cost of the plate, it should come with a biscuit. We won't have the breakfast plate again.“

“I like this restaurant but can only fo once a year. $22 for a steak salad! Also, the wait staff was sleeping the floor near my table. I really don't like that because I imagine dust and particle being swept into the air and into my food. I prefer wait staff to wait to clean when I leave or at empty tables away from mine.Oh and FTI they place can be noisy if busy since floors ate conctete.“

“If you’re a seafood aficionado, Perla’s in Austin should be at the top of your must-visit list! Nestled in the heart of SoCo, this charming spot offers not only a breezy, upscale ambiance but also dishes that will sweep you off your feet with their freshness and flavor.I recently visited Perla’s with a group of friends, and we kicked off our meal with a mix of oysters and calamari. Each bite was a crisp, delightful start to our seafood adventure. For the main course, my wife enjoyed the sea bass, while I savored the halibut—both dishes were cooked to perfection, highlighting the chefs’ prowess with premium seafood. We didn’t hold back on the sides either; the grits, Brussels sprouts, and snap peas were exceptional. Each side dish was a standout, adding unique textures and flavors to our meal. The service at Perla’s deserves a special mention. It was impeccable—attentive without being overbearing. Our server made sure everything arrived on time, and the pacing of the meal was spot on, allowing us to enjoy our dining experience fully without feeling rushed.Overall, Perla’s offers fantastic food paired with top-notch service. It’s a true gem for seafood lovers, promising a culinary experience that’s as delightful as the ocean breeze. “I love to bring my son before his schoolday starts once every other week or so. They open at 6:30 and staff is always smiling and kind. Apparently pancakes ? and eggs ? are our go-to orders for breakfast but there is a rich menu that will please almost everyone. The only drawback I can think of is their music choice, and I don’t think you can do much about it ?“

“I'm not a huge BBQ fan, but when in Texas, right? I REALLY liked the crispy boar ribs. I got the short rib for an entree which was WAY too big, I kid you not it was the size of my arm! But it was delicious. Again, not a huge "slab of meat for dinner person". I think I probably could have just ordered the boar ribs app and been just fine! Oooh, the red snapper ceviche was fantastic! I love the atmosphere, classy and a little dark- we came on a weekday so no live music. The only BBQ place I could find that was open late and takes reservations“

“I’ve been here for brunch before and was not impressed but recently went for dinner and was blown away by the duck enmoladas! I also tried a couple of their frozen margaritas: avocado and coconut, but both were liquidy and felt like I was drinking cottage cheese. They need to use more ice or fix their margarita maker.“

“Incredible culinary experience. Their tripitas tacos are, without a doubt, the best and finest I've ever had. After sampling tacos from numerous establishments here in ATX, I must say that Las Trancas truly stands out as the champion. The diverse range of offerings on their menu and the affordability of their prices make them not only a personal favorite but also a standout in the local dining scene. Their presence has undoubtedly enriched my life, and for that, I am immensely grateful. As a devoted fan of their establishment, I believe the time has come for Las Trancas to consider expanding its reach. I wholeheartedly urge you to venture northward and consider opening a second location. There is undoubtedly a hungry and appreciative audience awaiting your delicious creations. I have no doubt that with your exceptional food and exceptional service, a new location would be a resounding success. Your unique flavors deserve to be shared with a wider audience, and I am confident that the community up north would welcome you with open arms.Thank you once again, Las Trancas team, for the joy you bring through your tacos. I look forward to the possibility of savoring your delectable dishes at a new location in the near future.“

“Ordered the omakase. Decided last minute to add hot rock & edamame. I noted that I do not want it to interfere with the timing of the omakase, and please serve as ready. It was roughly a 45 minute delay after the hot rock waiting for our next dish. Total time spent - 3 hours.I'll come back and re-visit this review after my next visit and hopefully can update it to 5 stars. Thank you, UchiKo!“

“Loved the tacos!Another place recommended to us that was awesome. The line was relatively short but I think that was due to us being there mid afternoon. We ordered the El Breakfast Taco, Migas Originales, Al Pastor and Grilled Steak taco’s and the food was ready fairly quickly. All the tacos were delicious! In particular the Al Pastor with its juicy pineapple and pork combo - so good!Loved the decor here too and the restaurant as a whole was super clean. Would definitely revisit next time!!“

“This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Austin. They have tons of indoor seating, with some outdoor seating, and they have a HUGE parking lot which makes it easy to find a parking spot. They have great food at a good price. They have great margaritas and their free chips and salsa are also great. I would highly recommend trying this place if you havent been and if you have been then Im sure you will definitely be back.“

“I love uppercrust, but ever since they changed the bearclaw recipe, I've been disappointed... it was better before. It was tender and bready and chewy and had a good amount of filling. I think they changed it to the croissant dough, and I love a croissant, but it doesn't work with the bearclaw for me! They had a special and unique thing there that nowhere else had, and now it's always dry, kind of tough, and sometimes the filling is just a log of cream cheese and somehow a log of intact (not melted) chocolate. At this point I'd rather go somewhere else than face the disappointment of my favorite pastry in austin being gone. I've given it so many chances since the recipe change and it's just not what I want! I loved it before!!! Change it back pleeeeaaaasseeeeeee. They have a lot of other great stuff though... their coconut cream pie has a layer of chocolate between the crust and the filling and the whole thing is delicious.“

“I absolutely loved this place. I got a latte and a wrap while I worked here for a few hours in the afternoon on a beautiful day. I spent a lot of time gazing at the lake. “My mom and I came to Austin to visit my little sister who has been living here for a couple of years. It’s our first night and we were deciding on what to eat for dinner and being Filipino - we were looking for a home cooked meal and Kapatad definitely satisfied that! When we came we didn’t realize they were closing 30 mins earlier than usual because it was Sunday. My family ordered quickly but we did not feel rushed at all because the staff were very accommodating and welcoming to have us for dinner. My mom talked to the owner who took the time to talk to her for a little bit even though he had his hands full trying to clean. Our server was also seemed very kind! The food was very delicious and gave us a taste of home. Overall, we definitely felt the Filipino hospitality here and cannot recommend it anymore!“

“Miss Omg Squee, I got sucked in by the soft serve but then fell in love with the mochi donuts. The mochi donuts are great because they are small and always some interesting flavor. My most frequently eaten are the lemon butter and the Vietnamese tea.The Ube flavor is also good for boba or other teas and on their ice cream. The lines can get long as it's a small shop and kitchen, but it's worth it.Usually pickup only sat down a few times.“

“Both staff members I spoke to were kind and helpful. It seemed they weren't on the same page as to whether or not samples were allowed. The older of the two offered samples unprompted when we asked her opinion on 2 tea flavors. Thankfully, they weren't busy, so she had time to talk to us and help me make a decision. I ended up buying a full pound of a wonderful plum oolong. The place seems clean and smells wonderful. I will visit again for more tea and perhaps a sit down with a good pot.“

“Menu has interesting twists on the traditional bennys, tacos, burritos, pancakes, and scrambles. Many gluten free and other options. Had the pancake flight - pineapple upside down, blueberry danish, and sweet potato pancakes (gluten free). These were the best, fluffiest pancakes I have ever had. Large portions, wonderful flavor combos. My friends had the pork belly fried rice, marscapone-filled French toast, and breakfast scramble. Phenomenal. This place is also LGBTQ friendly, and servers were lovely and helpful. The fifties diner decor was upbeat, modern, and clean. A great experience!!“

“I'm extremely picky about my desserts, having started my career in baking, and especially when it comes to cheesecakes. I'll rarely attempt to order one off a menu at this point, given how many poor examples I've had throughout the years. The Celia Jacobs Cheesecake Experience, however, gives me hope. Why is no one talking about this little trailer camped out at the Thicket Food Park? I had never heard of it before and wouldn't have thought there was a single option, but lo and behold, they offer over 15 different flavors that are 100% plant-based! What's even more mind-blowing is how FANTASTIC they are. I tried the tuxedo (AKA chocolate and vanilla swirl) which far exceeded all expectations. It's creamy and rich, dense but not cloying, sweet but not sugary, served chilled for a refreshing grand finale on a warm spring evening. Flavors vary and now I just want to stop in everyday to try all of them.“

“I've been in Austin for over 20 years and Kerbey Lane still remains my favorite place to go for local comfort food. The service is great - easy, not rushed, and kind people work there. “This place is an utter hodge-podge of cool. Cozy, intimate interior where you can choose which room feels like your vibe and then kick back on a couch or at a table. So much random colorful kitschy shit cluttered about as decorations, almost like poking around a retro/antique shop. A lot of the art on the walls is for sale by local artists, and rotates out as it sells. They serve coffee, tea, and other beverages (like Italian soda), along with some baked goods like muffins, cookies, etc. Price range is reasonable, considering what folks'll shell out for a Starbucks nowadays. Staff are friendly and chill and will totally engage you in conversation about whatever. That's rad. The bathroom is riddled with humorous stickers to keep you entertained while you take care of business. I think my favorite is on the soap dispenser, a screaming opossum reminding you to hydrate on top of a progress pride flag. Though the hideous Sonic the Hedgehog with googly eyes is a close second. Yeah, that's my kind of thing. They've got a front patio area too, and the parking lot is pretty sizeable in the back.“

“Best chocolate chip cookies (when warm) in Austin, and really, most anywhere. we have bought the cookie dough twice, most recently earlier today. Very easy to follow instructions and they come out perfect. It is important to let them sit a bit where they will be overly soft. Bought this fudge like cookie/brownie that's also phenomenal (and very dense, in a good way). This place has a variety of cookies, and I believe they also have some hot and cold drinks, but have not tried those yet.Friendly folks at the counter. Inexpensive would not be a word to describe this place, but the cookies are so good, my comment would be "oh well, deliciousness comes at a price sometimes."“

“I was craving mochi donuts so bad!! Tomas suggested this place so I immediately checked them out. Small local business is a plus! They are currently doing a pop up at Dia's Market on Friday and Saturday. You have the option of pre-ordering your order for pick up. Be sure to check their social media or website to find their location. I ordered the following six flavors to try: strawberry shine, mangonada, ube rainbow, vanilla with crunchy chili oil, birthday cake and classic chocolate. They were soft with a chewy texture...perfect. Flavored beautifully. She provided me the instructions for warming them up for the next day. They were still good the next day. Very fresh and made with quality ingredients. They were all good, but if I had to choose one flavor I really enjoyed the mangonada. Yum! This was definitely a good spot for mochi donuts. Check them out.“
“The Ballroom is probably one of my favorite spots in Austin. As a band videographer, I end up here and at the Mohawk fairly often. Ballroom has a nice stage, decently priced drinks, and the food trucks parked outside may be the best part. There are vegan options and a halal truck with VERY GOOD PRICES. I got a burger for $8 in Austin, that's incredible. The DIY culture and metal bands love to come here and it's easy to see why. The low ceiling creates an intimate setting with the perfomers. With excellent lights+fx, things are only improved further when you hear how the bands sound. Falcon from Being Dead has declared Ballroom's audio engineer as the "best in the world" and that's something.Go check it out, and make sure to post some pictures. The people there are wonderful.“
