We ventured out to Walnut Springs to check out Blackie's Bait Shop for ourselves after receiving high recommendations. What a great place! Dobber, the owner, is so cordial and friendly. Speaks to everyone before heading to the kitchen to cook your delicious steaks! After the meal, cross the street for Blackie's After Dark for an entertaining night at the piano bar, then stay upstairs for a restful night of sleep. All conveniently located. We had a great time!
Just had a nice experience here at Blackie's Came because of the steak reviews and we were not disappointed. Steak was prepared exactly as we asked. Portions were perfect, staff experience was a good balance. Received a welcome from the owner and manager will enjoying dinner. Other staff was also attentive as they passed by although our server was on top of her game. We will be regulars here now that we have found this quaint spot.

Great food in the middle of nowhere!Quite a small town.We drive over when visiting the Whitney area.A true classic reminiscent of the wild west.Dauber and his wife are excellent hosts.Be sure to call the day before and reserve or “guarantee” a steak for you.Excellent steak at a very reasonable price.The Hemingway sandwich is excellent but does take a bit of time to be made.Have a few drinks while waiting, the skinny margarita would be a good choice ;-)Parking: There usually...read full review
