My husband and I found this gem while visiting Charlottesville. This family owned and ran diner is a community staple! The food was very flavorful, the desserts were good, the prices were beyond reasonable, and the friendliness of the staff made our experience! We absolutely loved the rich history that was proudly displayed on the walls!
Haven't been to Mel's for several years. My experience yesterday was a very pleasant one. Staff very friendly like always and the food was pretty good. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't offer cornbread just dinner rolls. All in all, my experience was good!

My first time at Mel's Cafe was amazing. The staff is most friendly and courteous you ever will find in the restaurant business. The food is extremely tasty and delicious. I had 8 piece wing ding with mashed potatoes and gravy and string beans topped off with a slice of lemon meringue pie. The sweet tea was awesome that I could resist a refill of it.
