Adorable restaurant. The art and the building itself is gorgeous. Our server handled the allergies in our large group like a complete pro. She was awesome and I wish I caught her name. The food was so comforting yet elevated. The fried green tomatoes were crisp with the most delicious pimento cheese. The biscuits were so good we had to order a second round. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the pork tenderloin and it was so juicy. The sweet potato gratin and the braised cabbage paired perfectly. Really great value for the large portion I received. Do not pass on dessert! The mud pie in the jar was so good! A great experience from beginning to end. I will be back!

Mockingbird is a fantastic place, that has evolved to be my favorite place in Charlottesville. I have eaten there on several locations with different people and every time the right balance between food, service, and atmosphere was just great. And affordable!

I ordered from this restaurant through Grubhub. All the food was amazing except for the bison. It was over charred and just tasted burnt. The shrimp and grits and pecan pie were 5 stars.

We had a great dinner here. The fried green tomatoes are delicious, as are the cheesy grits. Good selection of non-alcoholic drinks. The veggie pot pie was also great! The meatless meatloaf was not as good as one might hope but overall a delicious meal. We would gladly go again to try more things!

First time to visit..jam packed during Restaurant Week...the catfish had a good sauce on it..I ordered it because the menu said it was wild caught..who knows?..the apple crisp was not good..the apples were not fully cooked..hard and chewy ..wish I had ordered the banana pudding instead. I will have to try more menu items to see what is really good at this place..the biscuits are huge and come with 3 condiment in a basket of 5 huge biscuits....jelly.. apple butter..3 days later a biscuit I took home heated up well in a toaster over and still was tender inside...I really liked the biscuits! I also liked the paper take home box (not plastic)...environmentally friendly..why aren't all restaurants in Cville doing this?

Not $100 meal. My husband got the hanger steak it was good although. it would been been excellent had it not been smothered in gravy. I got the shrimp and grits. They were not good; not bad but they had no depth of flavor: shrimp with gelatinous gravy over grits. Our food came out not hot and we had to send it back initially.

What an amazing meal and experience! Not sure if you can request to sit in a specific person's section but recommending trying to get Nathaniel. He knows the menu, makes great recommendations on items (we didn't follow one of his recommendations and didn't regret it but maybe we should have?), and is so friendly! He absolutely made the experience bc the food and drinks speak for themselves. All around amazing night!

Had dinner here on Sunday night and ordered the bison flank steak medium well. It came out medium rare so I asked if they could cook it a bit more. As far as I can tell they just brought me out a new order that was medium at best. The server apologized and took it off the bill without anyone asking but I wanted to enjoy dinner with my companions not watch them eat while I waited for under cooked food a second time. I will go back and see if it is better but I wouldn’t recommend going here based upon my experience.

This is about the 4th or 5th time we have eating here and the experience is getting a bit too uneven. The food is generally pretty tasty but the service was terrible. First, ordering seemed rushed and by the time we ordered starters and drinks, they did not come out at the same time. We ordered wine for dinner but it didn't arrive after being told it was on the way. Food and no wine... not good. Various requests for this and that just took forever to get addressed. Adding automatic 20% for tips to the bill doesn't give the staff any incentive to be exceptional. After pointing these things out, we were kindly given a gift card but I am unlikely to use it.
