We had an excellent experience today with Kelly helping us and serving us wine and food. We were looking for a small and intimate setting and couldn't of had a better experience. Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon.

Off the beaten path but a great winery. Wine was outstanding. Went in at 2:30 pm on a Sunday. Service was great. Great conversation with the servers and other guest. Was just a great experience. Strongly recommend it.

Not as great as I remembered, which is sad. No reserve on the menu and for a Saturday, they had very little to offer in the way of freshly prepared foods (think open a can of salsa and a bag of chips). I wanted it to be so much better than this because I remembered something far better than this from years earlier.

Tried a flight of 5- highlights:Cab franc- bright red fruit consisting of cassis, raspberry, hint of jam, licorice, hint of violets. Velvet moderate tannins. Beautifully done. Resembles Loire CF but with new world characteristics.Tannat- darker fruits this time with blackberry, black cherry, ground chocolate, hint of baking spice. Med-high tannins with inky mouthfeel. Complex yet approachable.Red blend- take the above two and meet somewhere in the middle. Very good as well.Tried a couple of whites as well, both very good. Gruner veltiliner stood out.Hidden gem for sure

Easily one of the best wineries I've been to in the area, which some of the best red wines I've had so far. They have a beautiful little tasting room overlooking the vineyard, and the sommelier was very friendly and helpful since it was our first time there. The tasting are set up where you can select any five wines for a fixed price. They have a large selection of red wines, a few whites and two sweet wines. The apple wine was a surprise- it was basically like a boozy apple juice. All of the reds we tried were excellent in their own right- it was the first time in a while I not only wanted to buy a bottle but had a hard time choosing which one. Its definitely worth a visit.

We are members of this winery and have attended several of the event dinners as well as a vertical for multiple vintages of the Tannat wine. If you like wine, this is a great place. We've taken guest, and the feedback was favorable from everyone. When we go to the winery, the Tannat is always #1 on our list. The location is quaint and feels like you are at a remote chalet in the forest. A great natural setting!

Highly suggest visiting this hidden gem. Love the wines and can't say enough good things about the owner!

This is a family run winery located in Fauquier County whose personal mandate is to produce all natural wines from Virginia grown grapes. There are no added sulfites or other chemicals and most wines are aged in neutral oak or stainless steel resulting in an accessible and appealing fruit forward profile that is different to most Virginia wines locally. The tasting room is cozy with an assortment of table sizes and there is a large outdoor picnic area with plenty of tables where dogs are welcome. Please note, there are a number of fairly steep gravelled steps from the parking area to the tasting room. There is a railing but you will want to wear appropriate footwear. We tried all of the reds on offer as well as a unique Amphora aged Chardonnay (an amphora is a clay vessel often used in the ancient world) which was excellent. The server was excellent at explaining the differences in production style of the various wines. There are a variety of snacks available and we tried the charcuterie board which was delicious and thoughtfully put together to provide complimentary flavors to the wines. If you’re looking for something different in Virginia wine this is the winery to try.

An unexpected surprise (is there any other kind?) is waiting for you at this winery. Off the beaten path and not big budget like some surrounding wineries Arterra boasts a healthier production process, less additives and more pure goodness. This winery also houses an artists studio with pottery items available for purchase. The wines are as advertised (I am told) simple and clean. This place has a great atmosphere, while still being small. An outdoor fire keeps you warm in the winter but there is plenty of heat inside. If you are in the area this is a must see. There are even short trails to overlooks for the kiddos.

This is a delightful little vineyard tucked away on a back country road. They offer both red and white varietals as well as cheeses or a complete Charcuterie board for the larger apetite. We enjoyed the traditional Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc.

I went to Arterra with a large group this weekend and had a fantastic time! The whole staff was incredibly accommodating and reserved several tables inside for us. Everyone raved about the wine and we loved that we could bring in our own charcuterie board! The grounds the winery is on are gorgeous and the perfect place to enjoy a fall day. I went home with a bottle of the rose and the zero sulfite petit verdot!

It's great to find a winery in the area that is so focused on a clean process for winemaking. The owner is great, and takes unique care and an offbeat path from the typical Virginia wines by exemplifying the grapes correctly. While not everyone will appreciate what he's doing here, I feel that what he is doing here is very important as far as what Virginia wine can be. This place is great. Not mass produced, native yeast, spontaneous fermentation, low [and sometime no] sulfite, and delicious. Definitely the most old world style we've found in the area. Beautiful setting on top of it. Cannot recommend more.

We had a lovely mid afternoon picnic here today. We've been to a lot of the wineries in Northern Virginia and this is one of the most scenic. The plentiful outdoor tables look out into the hilly vineyard, which were picture perfect at peak foliage. The vines are young and the wines we tasted (gruner veltliner, rose, and petit syrah) were not as smooth as we normally like, but service was super friendly and knowledgeable. I like that you can bring your own food since they only have a few appetizer type offerings. At $36 for a bottle of white, the prices are a tad high, but I like that they are natural wines (no added yeast) and follow mostly organic practices. Also dog friendly so we will be back to try the 2023 vintage in 2025 (if not sooner!)
