“One of my favorite stops during a recent visit to Smith Mountain Lake! To get to Fables & Feathers, you'll take a winding road into an isolated residential area. At first, hubby and I weren't sure we were navigating correctly until we turned in the drive and saw the parking lot behind the house and a separate garage and the expansive winery spreading out from the rear of the house. You'll head into a side entrance on the house and head directly upstairs. We were greeted right away by a bartender. They have so much to choose from - beers brewed on site, wines and flights for both and wine slushies. They have a good variety of prepackaged snacks and drinks for kiddos as well. Just past the bar, there is a huge open room with comfy seating, tables, bar-height tables, board games, foosball, game books, you name it. Wonderful place to spend a few hours/rainy day/cozy evening. Outside, there are additional tables with covered umbrellas overlooking the vineyard and an adjacent area for little ones with playground equipment, lawn games and a sand table. It seems they have literally something for everyone. Inside the bar area, you'll also find a nice collection of gifts for wine lovers and non-winos alike. Hubby and I both selected wine flights and enjoyed our drinks outdoors. They have a very large menu for the flights. He had a red flight while I enjoyed a semi-sweet white flight. Both had some delicious offerings. My favorite was the Riesling and Traminette. I was very tempted by the chocolate & wine flight, but wanted to save my sugar for later in the day. The truffles they serve looked beautiful! Our visit to F&F was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend going out of your way to pay a visit to this winery!”

“They knew our big party was coming. Our waitress seemed to have too many tables plus us. Way too much time to get drinks, take our orders, and get our food. Dinner turned out to be a 2+hour ordeal.”

“Greeted immediately by the friendly host. Received excellent service from our waiter Melton. We ordered a house salad with bleu cheese dressing, a supreme pizza, and the crispy chicken pesto sandwich with fries and onion rings. All of the food came out hot and fresh and was delicious. We are out of towners but would be regulars if we lived here. We will come back when we visit the state park again.Parking: Parking easily accessible from front and back of restaurant (can enter restaurant from the patio out back).”

“Amazing breakfast spot. We were lucky enough ţo eat breakfast there twice during our trip. Best corned beef hash that I have ever had. People in my group loved the pancakes. All food was exceptional. Waitstaff were wonderful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Clearly the locals love it. My only regret is that we didn't get to have lunch there.”

“I’ve driven past this winery probably 100 times since I was a little kid but I finally was able to stop in this weekend. I had such a fun time doing the wine tasting with my friend there! “If you love cheesecake, VISIT. THIS. PLACE. Fresh cheesecake, not too dense but not too light, and great flavors. I bought 3 slices to take home and was planning to serve them to guests, but they didn't make it- they got devoured well before our guest arrived. The service was also prompt and friendly. A family member is supposed to stop by today and is traveling from the SML area- I really hope they are bringing cheesecake from SML coffee house with them!”

“Cannot say enough great things about BullDocks! Thought we'd give this local restaurant a try for our anniversary, and they did not disappoint. Atmosphere was great, our server Ava was spot on, and the food!! Oh my! Steaks were cooked to perfection. Homemade rolls melted in your mouth. Fresh salad and veggies, and wonderful sides. The chef makes your plate to order, and he is phenomenal. We split the lemon blueberry cheesecake (even though we were stuffed and couldn't finish our entrees.) Wow! We have finally found our local restaurant and I can't wait to go back.”

“The Creamery is a landmark in western Virginia. Their dairy & ice cream products are the best, and their sandwiches are delicious! Amazing service comes with a quaint old school charm and a wide variety of farmhouse kitch. Go there!”

“Giacomo makes one of the best pizzas in the Roanoke area. Tony Avelino on electric gives them a run for their money. Lol as it owned by the same people. There's a competition between who makes the better pizza. Both are spectacular. New York Pizza has been a staple and Roanoke for, at least 15 years. And I'm still waiting on the new seating area lol. The atmosphere is exactly what a New York Pizzaria should be. Great place with great people. You won't be disappointed.”

“Only reason I didn't give the atmosphere a 5 star is because of the smoky air in the restaurant. The large round grill is great but there is not adequate ventilation in the building to keep your clothes from smelling like the food. Everything else is great!!!!”

“Great reasonable cafe for lunch. I've gotten their soup and 1/2 salad, sandwhich and salad add on. The cranberry walnut salad was great- lots of toppings. The loaded potato and taco soup are really good. I had a turkey club one time also. Coffee drinks are good. You can eat outside if you want facing the water or inside. Free wifi. The cheesecake desserts are great, and I had a sugar cookie once too. Reasonable price.”

“Best sticky buns around! You can also find fabrics and trims that you'll never find in a "fabric" store. If you're ever traveling down 116 stop in. The ladies there are so kind and helpful.”

“Solid spot near Smith Mountain Lake for some authentic Italian dishes and crowd favorite, Vodka Rigatoni. Went out for my dad’s birthday recently and continue to frequent this location throughout the season at the lake. “A cute little place set off the road, they have a drive thru and an inside cafe. The people were friendly, the place was adorable, and the coffee was great! They also have breakfast + lunch sandwiches and fresh baked desserts, scones, and Friday is donut day! Thank you to the nice lady who recommended we get an iced latte with brown sugar cinnamon and salted caramel syrup, it’s SO good! I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town! Check this place out if you’re driving by.”

“Love this new place for Homestead Creamery ice cream! The staff are always very friendly, but I think sometimes overwhelmed with the volume of customers! However, that does not deter us from going there regularly! The interior decor is cheerful and bright! Favorite flavors include espresso chip, Hokie tracks, lemon crunch and peanut butter cookies and cream! Haven't tried their hot dogs.”
