Yamazotos: A Taste of Japan in Hurt, VA

I've thoroughly enjoyed my recent trips to our local Yamazotos, and as a guy who actually lived in Japan for two years It was incredibly difficult to pick a favorite between the hibachi steak, chicken and shrimp because they were all so delicious. I say all this but the best dish was undoubtedly the steamed gyoza that reminded me the most being in japan and so light on flavour yet packed a punch.

You cant get better than the atmosphere at Yamazoto's, as it is cozy and very family-friendly. My noodle with vegetable plates were a huge hit, the empty dishes of my 1 and 3-year-old boys confirming this!*** The service was perfect and I felt at home with the staff.

If you are in Hurt and want a real Japanese meal, Yamazotos is your place. This restaurant deserved 5 stars on every level, from food to service.”

Everyone in the crew was still talking about lunch well after it had ended and we ranked it the best spot overall out of all the restaurants we went to over our 3-day trip. “Can't beat the prices! Service was wonderful. We dined in and got a "special" dog designed for me! The works, including bacon. Best ever. Fries are crisp and fresh. Sister swears by their cheese burgers. Been in business forever and ever, and there is a reason why. If your in Altavista, do your stomach a favor and stop in.”

“Good Mexican style restaurant. I'm not sure if all of the El Cazadors in the southwestern part of VA are affiliated and each one is slightly different but all are good.

Parking: There is enough parking if you are pulling a trailer. Good place to stop, park and eat after coming from a Lake.”

“Excellent food and plentiful portions!! While traveling through this area, the two premier places to eat were packed and we didn't want to wait 45 minutes for a table. We looked on Google Maps and saw the Tuscan Italian Grill was nearby, so we stopped in and we're so glad we did!! The food was delicious and the portions were huge! I enjoyed playing along with the trivia game while waiting for the food to come out, which wasn't long at all! We will definitely eat here again!! 😋”

“I have become a frequent visitor to this location as of late. My crew chief faithfully gets his Hardee's fix before we begin our shift and he always talks about how amazing the breakfast food is. The biscuits are fluffy and the hash rounds are on point wit sweet tea to compliment that is made just right. I may not be the one eating the food, but having a happy supervisor at the beginning of a shift is always pleasant to see.”
