Brisket was perfect, the wings were perfect , the burnt ends could've been a little more crispier but they were still very good. We got various sauces but didn't need them at all, everything was juicy and well seasoned. This is my 5th time eating at Gyu Shige as my last two times were in the Rockville location. It was a busy night but my server was quick and responsive by bringing our requested meat dishes, and explaining their personal favorites for drinks and appetizers. Restaurant setting, in my opinion, has been the same, with conversations left and right --truly withholding the essence of Japanese bbq which is enjoying the fine meats cooked for you but also chatting with friends and family. For anyone who seems to be stuck on the price. You just have to understand that "you get what you pay for" meaning every dime you spend on this meal, the experience and food are definitely worth while. “Had been away for a while (I used to to their affiliated restaurant Burger Delite before it closed) but had been craving a good half smoke forever. Ahhh...just like old times!! The smokes are still great and I had my long time comfort food, a fried bologna, egg & cheese on toast and some potato wedges. The place is still a precision clockwork machine and the prices are still affordable even in these times. “This is one of my go-to places in the DMV for Kbbq but the one thing that makes me hesitate to go here is the grilling service.First, when you have the sign to “YES”they grill the meats way too fast. We would be halfway through the first meat when the second serving is almost done cooking. By the third serving, the cooked meats are cold. They don’t match the grilling pace to the customer’s eating pace, so it’s not very enjoyable. During multiple visits, the servers ignored the “NO” sign on our table and we had to tell them that we would like to do it ourselves. It feels very rushed.“

However, I find their sides to be lacking. They are just there so to speak. Nothing impressive. Service has always been good. Prices are competitive.“

“I feel that barbecue is subjective and kind of depends on your personal preference if you like it or not. My idea of good BBQ may not be yours. That being said... I LOVED this place. My brothers and I were in the area and one has been craving BBQ something fierce. Walking in, the place smells like heaven. We probably ordered way more than we should have because if we weren't hungry before, we definitely were when we smelled how good it smells here. We all ordered the pulled chicken sandwich, soda, cornbread and we each ordered different sides: baked beans and corn pudding, yucca fries and fried okra, and onion rings and macaroni and cheese. We also had a side of coleslaw to share since BBQ sandwich + coleslaw = perfection. You order at the counter, stop to gawk at the biggest selection of hot sauces I have ever seen for sale, grab your plastic ware and fountain soda, debate if you want pickled jalapeños, pickled onions, hot pickles, (hot pickles were AWESOME!!!!!) and then have a seat. They brought us the food pretty quickly and we dug in. We found their original BBQ sauce, found on the counter in a giant cauldron thing, a little too sweet and tomato-y for our likings (although I did enjoy digging the sweet marinated onions out of my cup of sauce, because those were great with the pickled onions and hot pickles), but they had a smoky and sweet one on the tables that we really liked. The onion rings were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and tasted amazing. I dipped one in his macaroni cheese and that tasted pretty darn good too. The fried okra is a huge portion and is also perfectly fried. The yucca fries were also wonderfully crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and not at all greasy. The baked beans are a little savory and a lot sweet. The corn pudding is very soft and fluffy and tastes like a hush puppy without the hard exterior. The coleslaw is delicious. They add super crisp peas and carrots to the normal cabbage. More places should get on this because it adds sweetness and texture and it is fantastic!!!!! The cornbread is amazing! I have no idea how they make it so fluffy and moist but WOW. I may carry honey in my handbag in case there is ever cornbread and I have never been so happy about my weird tendencies because YES!!!!!!! The pulled chicken was juicy and tender and smoky and so good. The buns they use are perfect for standing up to the saucy goodness. We really wanted to try some of their pies and banana pudding, but we couldn't eat another bite by the time we left. The portions were very generous, you couldn't even close the bun around all of the chicken without it jumping ship. You definitely need a fork to scoop up all your fallen chicken, which is also how I like my BBQ... I really wish we lived closer to this place because it was delicious and I would probably feign being too tired to cook dinner at least once a week so we could come here.“

The bartender was our server and he was so attentive and on top of everything. They had a large school party that had about 50 people in it and they did not let that slow them down at all. At the end of that party we ended up speaking with one of the owners and he was so nice! We ended up finding out the host had family from where we are from and that was awesome! I'm very picky about sinigang but theirs is the best I've ever had! The skewers were delicious. The lechon kawali was so crispy even though it had to survive a 10 mile drive. The sisig was really good too! I usually prefer mine a little spicier and vinegar-y but it was still great. I love all the pickles that come with it too. “This restaurant introduced hot pot earlier this year. Current lunch special is AYCE hot pot and skewers for $35. The meats are quality and you have over 5 skewers to choose from. Some speciality items include snow crab legs, scallops and hot chili wontons. These items are usually add ons at other restaurants and sometimes cost a lot more. My friends got the Tom Yum and I got the pork broths. Broths were rich in flavor and we ordered multiple rounds of the skewers.I love the high ceilings and how the dining tables are set up. You get a grilling station in the middle that is constantly moving. Each diner gets their own hot pot and the seats were really comfy. The sauce stations are covered and there are plenty of instructions on how to make your favorite sauces. Save room for the vanilla ice cream as well. Service here was on point. I feel like we had +3 servers at all times. You order on your phone and food comes out really quickly. You can't go any where in the area to get quality meats and hot pot at value. Fun place to try different types of seafood, meats and vegetables.“
