“Great food and service! The family and I dined at Asahi for the first since before COVID. As expected fantastic food, we all ordered either the sushi or sashimi all you can eat dinner. Service seemed a little slow but did not diminish the experience. Sorry did take pictures.Update: B-day dinner for one of the kidlets. We all got the all you can eat sushi and had a great time with good food. Great service as always.“

“Port Arthurs is my favorite Chinese Restaurant. I love the fact that they are locally owned and have been here for as long as I can remember . They are a staple in Newport News and never disappoint. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and menu is extensive. Y’all, it’s that’s good! .“

“Very sweet lady at front. I love the food. Even when they were downtown Newport News, I used to go there. The new location is just as good. I don't eat Chicken anymore, but the Teriyaki is the best, especially fried hard. I recommend the fried rice (any kind), the egg foo young is delicious and teriyaki are all my faves. I haven't had a bad experience thus far. Highly recommend eating here if you want good Chinese food. 10/10“

“Absolutely terrific food! I ordered from here today on the recommendation of a coworker. I was very happily surprised! I had General Tso's chicken with pork fried rice and an eggroll. I wouldn't change a single thing. Everything was hot, and the veggies in the rice and eggroll were fresh and not cooked into a soggy, tasteless mound. It was reasonably priced too. It's a little off the beaten track but now that I know it's there, I'll be there frequently. I'm looking forward to working my way through the menu!“

“Came from out of state to visit my best friend and we decided to eat here. The food was INCREDIBLE! The egg drop soup was amazing and they have the best crab ragoons I have ever had. We will definitely be eating here at least one more time before I leave.“

“The food was so DELICIOUS! As someone who is from Hampton Roads, I don't care for most of the Chinese restaurants here. But this establishment's food was well seasoned, reasonably priced, and nice size portions. And the egg roll? I do not know what meat they put in their regular egg roll, but is was DELICIOUS! I can't wait to return and try some of their other dishes but I can't imagine how good everything else taste!“

“We moved here 4 years ago and have tried all the Chinese spots in town, this is the best! My kids loved it and that says a lot my wallet wasn't hurting and I didn't have to cook!!! We had bourbon, chicken general tsos chicken, beef and broccoli and the steamed dumplings. EVERYTHING was delicious we finally found our Chinese spot!“

“I judge a Chinese place by how fresh the veggies are and how tasty the non-fried meat is. The Szechuan chicken I have pictured is as fresh and delicious as it looks!I rate this a cut above most Chinese places in Hampton. You have to get near Fox Hill for better.Staff is always super friendly. Note there's no dine-in option.“

“Overall great place! As soon as you walk in you are blessed with the great smell of food. This is a new place so they only have carry-out at the moment. The food came quick and I did not have to wait long! It was delicious and hot. Definitely recommend for something new to try!“

“My go to Chinese food restaurant in the neighborhood. This is a family run store, mom does a great job, kids alway hard at work.Service is fast and food always fresh I love the egg foo young and their gravy for it. They will cook rice however you like it, GF get it w/o veggies and adds an egg that’s how she likes it.Wish they made their boneless ribs a little bigger but hey, can’t have everything.Great Job Golden City !!“

“I've been going there for years. I typically only buy Beef and Broccoli, Garlic Chicken, or Hot and Spicy Chicken. The veggies are always cooked well (aren't overcooked or old and wilted), and the sauce isn't light and not thick, oily, and gravy like. This is my favorite strip mall Chinese food place out of them all in the Hampton Roads area, and I've eaten at dozens over the decades....I also seen negative comments about the lady behind the counter. While she's not talkative and hospitable, she's not rude, unpleasant, or unprofessional in my experience and watching her interactions with others. She takes your order and hands it to you just without all the extra fakeness that some want and need while at restaurants. She's never given me a reason to think I'll of her.Prices are respectable, and have only gone up $2 +/- from their pre Covid pricing. That's not bad especially when taking into consideration that the cost of food, supplies, utilities, rent, and other overhead cost has risen substantially!Parking: Depending on the time of day, parking can be limited; however, there's usually a place to park.“

“I ordered a family meal. The general tso chicken was very good, enjoyed the heat and it wasn’t overly salty. I liked that there was a choice of rice! The hibachi was delicious, vegetables fresh, crisp and the meat tender. The chicken soba noodles were excellent with a nice ratio of meat and noodles but a little salty. The last item in the family meal was egg rolls. They were crispy but not a fan of the mushy inside. That won’t stop me from ordering their food again. I’m a fan!“

“Probably the best Chinese food I've had in the area. I have a hunch their woks are as seasoned as the chef - everything is skillfully executed, with the subtle, smoky savory notes I've come to expect from a well-practiced artisan. The vegetables are consistently tender, crisp, and flavorful, with the right balance of sauce and seasoning to let the ingredients sing individually, and harmonize effortlessly into a wonderfully memorable dish. This was my first visit, but I'll definitely be back - this hidden gem has thoroughly put the likes of PF Chang's to shame, and somehow at prices and speed I'd expect from a deep-fried take-out joint.Definite must-try!“

“This is by far the best Chinese in town and I've gone to many Chinese restaurants in my life from VA. to Fla.I go at least once a week, twice this week. Elaine at the window is so nice. Their chicken with vegetables AND chicken fried rice are excellent. The soups, all their food is so dang good with great prices too!! This place is a win/win. Try it. You will not be disappointed!!“

“China Ocean is our favorite Chinese place in the area for pickup. They do not have a seating area (the location just isn't big enough for one), and I believe they only deliver within a very small range (we live too far away). Also, some of their items are NOT good for leftovers, which can be dissapointing if you're like me, and enjoy leftovers the next day (sesame chicken is one of them). It is great food if you plan to eat everything within an hour or two of picking it up!“

“Had the general tso chicken. It is my measuring stick for Chinese restaurants. Definitely top 3 in the area. Good portion size and not too muck sauce. Rice was perfect, not too sticky. Spring roll was crispy and light. Needed to find a local "go to" place and this looks like it!“

“I had placed an order for General Tso's chicken and got Kung Pao instead. When I called they told me to bring it back so I did, and they let me have it all. It was the ONLY time they've gotten anything wrong for me, and I highly recommend going there to eat! Best chinese food “

“I have been going to this restaurant since I moved in the area around seven years ago, and when I tell you, it is the best food….. It is! Me and my family love eating here and we always Call and order our food, and get takeout. we have ordered there for so long that the owner practically knows our whole order Lol. It is such a family oriented spot that makes your heart melt! It is full of talent and creativity, and there is not a spot like it! Love, love, love!Dietary restrictions: The owners are so nice, and anytime we need a meal to be altered with its ingredients. They never have any problems with that! They will Substitute and item, or take out an item for you!Kid-friendliness: They are very kid friendly! Like I said, I’ve been going to them for years, so I watched their kid grow up and now he is helping out in the back! It is so cute to watch a family like this works so hard! They definitely are kid friendly!“

“My first time ordering from here so I went basic and ordered the General Tso chicken combo. It exceeded my expectations! Price was very reasonable, rice and chicken were flavorful and portions were so big I couldn’t even finish it all. Reminded me of the chinese food back home in Jersey! Highly recommend ??“

“I don't eat out often, but I'm glad I found this place and tried it. Looks like small & hardworking family restaurant. No inside dining (looks like there was pre-covid). Plastic drape/partition between customer & cashier. It's hot in there, so just step outside for a few you'll be alright. There's many options on menu. The food was great, the lady was right, she said we made a large order ? whoops! But we've got lunch next day. Definitely found my new Chinese spot.“

“Close to the hotel we stayed at. Standard Chinese menu. The wonton soup was tasty. I liked the eggrolls. The sesame chicken was good. The beef lo mein was good also. A few tables for eating in the restaurant. The sweet and sour chicken had small pieces of chicken but the chicken that was in it was really good. The lady that took our order was friendly. They do offer a small military discount which is much appreciated. The fried rice was just okay. The prices were really good.“

“After years of going to the same Chinese restaurant nearby I finally tried this one. I'll never go back to old Chinese restaurant, this place food is good. The fried chicken looks normal and not as if it was on steroids. The food is ready in the quoted time they said it would be. They always answer the phone. They are closed on Mondays.Vegetarian options: Broccoli lo mein, veggie fried rice“

“These negative reviews are so wrong. Hong Kong in Poquoson makes the best Chinese food you will ever have. Those complaining about bad service need to get over themselves, the family at this business works very hard and this restaurant is incredibly busy all days of the week. I've been eating here for 20 years. Although their manners are not overly polite, they are never rude. Hong Kong Poquoson has very good portion sizes for the price of their food and the food is made fresh every order. Sometimes I'll order from them multiple times a week it's just that good of Chinese food.“
