Curate

Curate American • $$
860 Southern Vermont Arts Center Drive, Manchester

“We were seated right away for a noon reservation. There were a few specials in addition to an imaginative menu. I went with the prosciutto sandwich on house-baked focaccia, with tomato conserve and burrata. My husband had the spring hash, which had plenty of beef and veggies. We sat next to a window where we could see sculpture and daffodils and green grass - very picturesque. When I told the waitress how good the coffee was, she brought us a bag to take home, no charge! The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was open and light. This was a nice end to our gallery visit. We will certainly stop again.“

“Read the reviews and this is one place which was highly recommended by various people. Had to check it out and so we went. Service was first rate. Our waitress was great and attentive. We started with complimentary cranberry fritters with butter. Then a beautiful garden salad with balsamic. With the salad came Italian bread. We had the best lobster Mac and cheese as appetizer. Absolutely fabulous. Main course was pork Schnitzel and my wife ordered baked Scrod. Both great choices. We were both stuffed and had to skip dessert. Overall a very pleasant experience. Great food and amazing service. A must visit when you’re in the area.Parking: Ample space.Kid-friendliness: Not really. Tight space inside“

Barrows House Inn & Restaurant Gastropubs • $$$
3156 VT-30, Dorset - 3.39 miles

“My four year-old daughter and I took my husband out to Barrows for his birthday dinner. I only mentioned it on the OpenTable app because it asked if we were celebrating any milestones. I didn't think anything of it. Our server, Alex, was amazing. He was incredibly kind, attentive, had excellent suggestions, and he was consistently checking in with us. Truly a lovely person. Drinks were devine. I had a lemon drop mocktail that both my daughter and I LOVED. Husband had an old fashioned and said it was perfect. The food was excellent. The soup of the day was a shrimp chowder - beyond! Barrows always had amazing soups. Steaks were phenomenal and cooked to perfection. Our daughter had the kids burger and we opted for the veggie instead of fries for her. She's not a cooked carrot fan yet she inhaled every roasted carrot on her plate. Dessert was shared by the three of us and was yummy! Just as we were finishing dessert, Alex arrived with an entire personal-sized birthday cake for my husband, candle and all. It was such a special and thoughtful gesture. I was really surprised and grateful for this kindness. Barrows has been a favorite of ours for a while. This experience was simply another fantastic evening there. We will always be back!“

I would recommend the Seasons for anyone in the area. Pleasant atmosphere, wonderful staff and great food!! Thank you for your hospitality.“

“First, let me say that we found this place by pure luck. We pulled off the highway for a bathroom and gas and stumbled upon the Arlington Dairy Bar just in time for lunch. The service was excellent and was only out done by the food. You order and pick up at the sliding windows, and then there are picnic tables to eat at. I'm sorry there are no food pictures to go with this review, but everyone basically inhaled their food. With that being said, we ordered the cheesesteak, the cheeseburger, mac&cheese bites, and mozzarella sticks. All of this food was amazing and came out nice and hot. I do not have one bad thing to say about our stop here, and it has been added to the must stop list when we are in Vermont. Do yourself a favor and pay the Arlington Dairy Bar a visit and enjoy great food and service with a side of fresh air. You won't be disappointed.Kid-friendliness: There are so many food and ice cream options for the kiddos that if you can't find it, your kid doesn't need it.“

“One star shy of 5 stars. We had the “Eggs anyway” breakfast. We had no issue with the price as we expected a Dorset Inn quality breakfast. Our feedback is that the eggs were excellent ….local eggs and great whole grain bread. Unfortunately, the cheap Sysco style sausage was a drawback from an otherwise great breakfast.A suggestion to serve a higher grade sausage such as a local Vermont sausage?“

“Mistral's is the restaurant that my wife and I visit to treat ourselves to something rare and very special. It's tucked away off the main highway, on the side of a mountain, and built to follow the curve of the streamlet dancing alongside it. It just feels so special to walk in. We are always seated at a window looking across to the forest and down to the brook. It's magical, beautiful, artistic and so romantic. The wine list is perfectly selected to provide a carefree point of departure from ordinary life. The appetizers, the entrees, the deserts are always well prepared, pleasantly unassuming, thoughtfully presented, and a pleasure to enjoy. It's all just so lovely and comes complete with a staff that serves with dignity, competence and warmth. It's unlike any place else in an exceptionally good way. It's a treasure that we return to again and again.“
