“Stopped by for an Old Fashion and a Friday fish fry and was totally satisfied! They were definitely busy but more than happy to accommodate our larger party. The sample plater consisted of haddock, walleye, perch and a couple of nicely cooked shrimp which I highly recommend“
“This is a great place. I have made it my neighborhood bar, even though it’s not in my neighborhood! The people are excellent and there’s a general camaraderie with the customers. Just a nice place to watch a game and have some good food. Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed. The prices are fair and you won’t go broke drinking during the game.“
“We wandered in around noon, 2 hours before opening. Big Daddy (owner Eric?) invited us in, made burgers for us, chatted with us, informing us of the history of this lovely bar, thus the 5⭐ service rating.The bar was clean, quiet and friendly.We enjoyed the burgers and curds. Nice offerings of alternative/original variations on the veritable burger (and egg rolls).Beer tap selection was limited but adequate.The burgers were done to perfection, but to be honest we're nothing special. The prices were ok, but more expensive than the burger-standard-bearer in town "Bucket Heads". I'm a bit torn stating this as Big Daddy was sooo accommodating.We will return for another beer and burger some day as we try to support local small businesses. I give credit to Big Daddy for his efforts to keep his dream alive in these challenging times with owning a small business. Thank you Eric, keep up the good work, Rhinelander deserves you.“
“I hadn’t been out to this establishment since the early 2000s when I used to snowmobile there (Lake George Resort). The fish fry was surprisingly very good (one of the better ones locally) and the young lady who served us was engaging and polite. However, the interaction we had with the owner (??) when we first entered the bar was a little odd and felt slightly xenophobic and unwelcoming. Overall though, a decent experience.“
“The bartender is always friendly. Definitely like going there on the nights he's there. He's always friendly and never is rushing us out early. Thursday nights he's always there and I always keep Sammy's in mind because of it!“
“This is a redemption visit after a not so great one in August. Tuesday night we came with another couple and had a very good meal. All of us had burgers and they were very good, my husband said it was the best he's ever had. Food came very fast, but it wasn't busy at this time yet either. So we had a nice meal and listened to the Bingo game going on in the bar! I would like to see if a beer list can be printed and available to look at while ordering, the waitress told us we could go look at the list at the bar. which we didn't do.“
“Nice staff good food a+ i though the menu was so different and the burgers sounded great and the pozzas sou ded great and the fish fry sounded great. Everything sounded great lol. The bartender was awesome and she was working alone and kicking butt. And stayed friendly the entire time. I ended up getting the fish and a pizza and boy was I happy with my choice. I will come again to this awesome bat in the backwoods of rhinelander. Trust me this place is good. The fish was decent but the pizza was the real star of the show I ate most of it and only brought some home to have something g to look forward to the next day. I brought my friend out here and she loved it as much as I do. Next time I go I'm getting a burger cuz those looked sooooooo so so so good. Thanks Birchwood for keeping the northwoods at your place. We love you and will continue to come there because you are waaaay way above any competitor in the area.. a freaking plus!!“
“I had the coconut shrimp. They were good. Apparently there is some sauce to go with them, but they were out of it. Bob had the brat patty burger. The patty had cheese & fried onions. Bob really enjoyed it. Service was fair. The bartender/server was very busy with bar clientele.“
“This is my place for perch. Good sized filets with light breading. It's not fancy. It's good. If you want fancy keep driving but it won't be good.Kid-friendliness: There's always kids there. I hear they make a mean kiddie cocktail.“

“Great food, fine staff, the little tables that are built into the brick walls need deeper knee spaces. 6. Inches isn't enough to scoot under and eat comfortably. I recommend putting wider tops on there, maybe hanging out four or five inches past the brick?Kid-friendliness: Okay for kids in the early evening.Wheelchair accessibility: There are probably a couple tables that could be made to work for wheelchair accessibility.“
“We were traveling and made it into Rhinelander a little late, around 7:45 on a Saturday night. We went to 3 other restaurants on the way before this one. 2 had their kitchens closed, and 1 was temporarily closed. We figured we would stop at Club 47 to see if they had food. Vickie fired up the grill for our party of 6 and made us all the best double cheeseburgers we've had on our trip. The bartender before her was super nice and welcoming too. We will be back for sure, and recommend it to anyone traveling through. The locals already know that it's a gem, and they were all great too. Thanks again Club 47, you are the best in the area!“
“This place is a hidden gem! Clean and inviting. The only thing lacking is parking but there is available street parking. I believe new ownership has improved the menu and drink options. I had a Bloody Mary and perch basket yesterday that were absolutely fantastic! Great prices, service and quality what more could you ask for from a local bar?“
“I found out about this bar from a co-worker. WOW $1 Bloody Mary’s. You can’t beat that!! It even comes with fixings. I tried pickled Kohlrabi for the first time It was very spicy but sooo good. He offers a spice rack so you can jazz it up if you want but with the pickles veggies it was perfect. He only does this on Sunday.It’s a decent size country bar that serves food. filled with friendly locals and had that gold old Hodag vibe. Definitely put this on your Bloody list.The name on the bar is Ken’s Country Bar. Ken is a second generation bar owner. His dad owned it before him. This place was once a general store and Feed mill.“
