“We had read that this place could be busy, so we chose to go a bit later in the evening and were seated immediately. The waiter wasn't super outgoing, but he was polite and actually became quite talkative when we took the initiative. They had excellent vegetarian meals with some real effort from the chef. Indoor vibe was fun with bikes hanging from the ceiling. The patio also looked nice with flowers and hanging lights.”

“Steakhouse chain with good food. Very busy location and there is a median that prevents traffic from turning in if not coming from the nearby freeway exit. Atmosphere is a bit too loud for me, but that is true to their brand and motif. I like to get a medium or medium rare new york strip, well trimmed. Its awesome with just salt and pepper.”

What made it even more incredible was that someone anonymously paid for our dinner. Thank you, Whoever you are! Your generosity was over the top. The waitress informed us that the anonymous person paid for the dinners of the entire restaurant. Just mind-blowing. We will definitely pay it forward!”

“2nd visit. It was a quite night, the staff informed us that was due to ”spring break”. This restaurant has a warm, fun atmosphere. We were given a “tour” of the two main floor dining rooms and learned about the history of the building and Wausau itself buy the pictures hanging on the walls. The staff was attentive. Extensive wine list, bartender gave a quick lesson of Gins (differences between London dry and botanical) to one of our guests. With spring around the corner, I enjoyed the zucchini pasta.”

“Sam's Pizza for the win. I walked in for my pick up today and was treated like family. I had not been there for a while and was greeted by name and handed my pizza before I could even get my wallet. They were also very busy but not busy enough to treat everyone there the same as they treated me. Of course the pizza and garlic bread were amazing. This place is a Wausau landmark for a reason. Thank you Sam's Pizza !!”

“5 Stars – A Local Gem with a Heartwarming Atmosphere We’ve been to Blue Willow Cafe four times now for breakfast, and each visit just reinforces why we keep coming back. Even if the food wasn’t always perfect and they didn’t have best toffee cappuccino, the service is absolutely impeccable. The staff genuinely treats you like family—warm, attentive, and always smiling. It’s rare to find that kind of hospitality these days. This last visit was extra special because we finally got a booth! We joked that there’s a “three-visit minimum” before they grant you booth access, which only adds to the charm of the place. It’s little moments like that which make the experience memorable. No matter how your day starts, walking into Blue Willow Cafe just lifts your spirits. “Some family and I went out for a fish fry here. The drinks are reasonably priced and have a good solid pour. My pan-fried Walleye was really good. Two of the five food orders were not correct. One was missing the extra piece of fish, and one had beer battered that was supposed to be baked. The wait staff apologized and brought out the extra fish and offered some free drinks.”

“What a lovely place!   The establishment is in a lovely historic building that has been meticulously restored and decorated with an artsy vibe.  The venue is spotless.  Our committee chose this location for a class reunion, and we could not have been happier. The owner was super accommodating.  The bar service was on point.   If you visit, do try a mojito.  The mint is grown on site by the owner, and what a difference it makes!”

“Ate at the Wausau location twice last week (once dine in and once for takeout). Both times the food I ordered was amazing! Bread sticks were hot, workers were pleasant, even the nice young man (Trevor) who cooked our food came out to ask how our food was (that was the time we ordered dine in). Pumpkin cheesecake is AMAZEBALLS!! The pizza pasta I ordered for take out was also so good! If it’s been awhile since eating there, or had a bad experience in the past, give it another try please. They seem to be working hard to turn things around. Pictures are from my take out order.”

“Have gotten 50lb rolled oats from them- and very thankful they can provide that for us, to make granola cheaply. It’s a good price, as long as paid for in cash, so not to pay the credit card fee they have, like many small businesses. I really love the layout to their store. Wish they’d be a little closer to get to, but thankful they’re not too far away also.?”

I see lots of bad reviews from old employees.. boyfriends of ex employees.. ex patrons etc.. typical behavior from the ones causing the problems.. but now that the trash has taken itself out because management DOES care and won't stand for the behavior the business itself gets trashed.. only bar in the whole town worth going to! Dana is great and has been doing an amazing job the 20ish years she's been there! Highly recommend labor temple and the pizza is amazing!”

“When you think about a whole in the wall, this is the spot. Food is authentic. It is better than the other recommendations in the area. Service could be better. But, most authentic restaurants don’t have the best service. The food speaks for itself. It was a little bit warm when we visited. You just have to sweat through enjoying your meal. See pictures.
