“My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Mark and Brenda Sunday of Labor Day weekend. I couldn't be more impressed with their down to earth and willing to engage with customers like they've known them for years. Especially loved Mark's stories our conversation and him showing us the process in the back. I would highly recommend visiting them not to mention there products being authentic is a huge plus. If Mark or Brenda reads this just know Mark and Sherri from the Toledo area really enjoyed our time at your establishment. In fact..... outside of your beautiful countryside it was easily the best social experience we had on our trip. Hope to make it back someday. Godspeed to you both!”
“Definitely recommend—Fife Street offers a warm, inviting, and friendly atmosphere nestled in the heart of Charleston, WV. You’re greeted with excellent live music upon entering, along with a fantastic food and drink selection to match whatever vibe you’re feeling. Management and staff are top tier. Not to mention, they offer excellent alcohol-free options as well. I’ll be back—this is truly a gem in the Charleston, WV area.”
“The food is delicious and presentation enticing, professional and lovely. The staff are very friendly, professional and engaging with the patrons. The menu isn’t large but there is something that will delight anyone’s tastes. The atmosphere is soft and inviting. It’s a hidden gem. One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston.”
“Fabulous upscale restaurant. Steak Diane, Scallops, Duck, table side Cesear salad all amazing flavors and presentation. Betty is the ultimate server and so friendly and professional.”

“Amazing food, fantastic service and phenomenal drinks (Bear is the best bartender you’ll find). The owner is a fantastic guy as well. Do yourself a favor and grab West Virginia roll or try the mountain momma. One of the best in the area for sure!”
“Had a great experience yesterday! The beer and pizza were amazing! The lady at the bar was phenomenal. If you have not been there.. RUN…”
“We were going to go to a different restaurant after a conference but changed our minds after we looked at the menu prices. We found the same extravagantly-tasting food at Hale House for more reasonable fine-dining. Get a reservation, just in case, but we were able to walk in. It's near parking at the city building near the Davidson building, just a couple of minutes walk. Just spectacular: I got the pork chops with homemade au gratin potatoes. The pork chops were grilled perfectly in butter and spices, and the au gratin potatoes are the best I've ever had outside of making the box. Most restaurants cannot do au gratin potatoes and keep the cheese from breaking, but Hale's got it how it should be. My dining partner got an appetizer as an entree, crab cakes deep fried in Angel Hair pasta. It sounds weird, but the traditional crab cakes had a soft texture and the angel hair was crunchy, giving an artistic look and contrasting texture. My dining partner got a small salad, and the two together were a meal. It was $75 with tip, but no drinks or appies/ dessert. The first restaurant we looked at was $75 a PLATE! 😳😳😳 And Hale has a secret speakeasy that is fully decorated historic and the drinks are spectacular. To sum, spectacular, fine dining for reasonable prices, and fun/historic atmosphere to modern grill. I need to go back more often! 💫💫💫💫💫”

“My husband and I had Karubees for dinner. He had curry chicken and I had jerk chicken. The sides were cabbage, mac and cheese, and rice. Chicken so tender it fell off the bone and so very tasty. As you can see in the picture, I couldn't wait for my husband to shoot the pic before I had a bite. I love that her husband picks up all ingredients instead of having them shipped so they are always fresh. I highly recommend you give it a try if you like Jamaican food.”
“I stopped in with my father who visits this restaurant every time he passes through and they are open. They know his face and his usual order. It impressed me right from the start. The crew is great and the food is delicious phenomenal. I highly recommend their Meatball sub as I have never had better. The affordability is amazing. I cannot wait for a chance to go back and get more food. This restaurant is a MUST!”
“On our way Home to Michigan. Spending the night in Charleston WV stopped at Bowlesboys up the creek. Bar none the best BBQ Brisket and Ribs we have ever had, the sides were delicious, portions were big, prices reasonable. What a find can't say enough good things about them.”
“This is my favorite place! Whenever I find myself alone in town, I can go in here, sit at the bar, and enjoy a delicious lunch or brunch (except on Sunday, when they are closed 🙁). It is so comfortable and inviting. I adore everything I have eaten here! The staff are also very accommodating to my special requests. Delicioso! I highly recommend the choripollo, quesachile, and the Lupita bowls.”
“Over the past few years, East End Pub has become a regular destination that my group has included in our roster of go-to lunch spots. EEP makes an incredibly good Chicken Bacon Swiss sandwich that, IMHO, cannot be beaten. I have taken over a dozen friends and family members with me to lunch and every one of them have become regular customers of EEP. Their egg rolls are delicious and always in demand, and I have yet to encounter a menu item that disappointed. It is a small space with limited parking in its front lot, but there is ample parking along Washington Street or on East Avenue. Susan, who tends the bar, and Kendall who waits tables are always a pleasure to see and they take good care of their customers. As word has spread through town, EEP has gotten more popular and crowded, but that’s what good food will do. We have taken to arriving early to beat the lunch rush. My group of friends have ordered everything from EEP’s burgers, to hot dogs, to East End Egg Rolls to half a garden salad with a (seasoned or not) chicken breast on top, to the Rueben and to my favorite, the chicken bacon Swiss sandwich, to the breakfast platter and everything in between, and all the food has been delicious! They definitely have some of the best French fries in town! While it’s a small establishment, it’s a great size for a local neighborhood pub and a great place for lunch or dinner, or just a few drinks at the bar. They have specials for lunch that regularly change and are written on a chalkboard on the wall as you go through the front door. You seat yourself upon entering; one does not need to wait to be seated. It also has a great location at the corner of Washington Street and East Avenue which is at the foot of north side of the 35th and 36th Street bridges to Kanawha City. Overall I’d rate East End Pub at 9 stars out of 10 due to its excellent food, great service and pleasant atmosphere - and those awesome French fries!! If you want a casual tasty meal, some drinks or beers, or all of the above, East End Pub is an excellent option!”
“Great food, great service, great team—especially proud and grateful for my nephew, Zach Kihm. Ask for him by name. He’ll treat you right!”
“First time in this building since it was Suzi's. I'm very impressed I must say. The quesadilla was amazing. The tacos I got were beef and the flavor was excellent. We also ordered Cheese dip for the chips and it was some of the best I've had. The salsa was great too. We had our food faster than we ever had at any other Mexican restaurant and the service was great.”

“I want to give a shout out to Reb Lobster in Charleston. The food was so good but honestly the best part was the waitor Skyler(hope I spelled that right)This waitor was honestly the best I've ever had any where! Asked for our names and always called us by them while serving us.We never ran out of bisquits, drinks, etc and it was so nice having a waitor that interacted with the customers on this level!”

24 Hour Restaurants
“most of the manager's, they don't care about their employees. especially the ones who are 1 hour or more late. grow up. you know what time you need to be there your schedule is made up already, do your job and be on time like you expect your employees geez one pissed off granny”
“Service was great. Our steak was overcooked and dry though which was disappointing as we were out for our anniversary. But the waitress could tell I was struggling eating it and took it off the bill without me asking for anything. That was very appreciated! They were extremely busy so we'll give them a try again. The strawberry dessert was DELICIOUS! 🤤”
“No kidding this is the BEST place I’ve ever had the privilege of eating at. The staff are all so kind and friendly, the food is always impeccable, the restaurant itself is VERY clean! The salad is absolutely divine and the entrees are delicious! Portion size is large, I always left full, many times with leftovers. I cannot express how truly wonderful the staff are, they are all so hospitable and genuinely care about your dining experience.”
Takeout Restaurants
“9 out of 10. The food was fantastic no missed spots. The service was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. The prices were pretty great to be honest. I was expecting it to be more expensive than it was. I think for me my only issue would be that it’s a slightly cramped space and it’s kind of a little too fast paced for my preference.”

“We were hosting a fundraiser for 150 people and knew we needed something special for our first year event. We found EXACTLY what we needed at Thyme After Time Southern Cuisine and Catering. It is truly southern comfort food at its finest! The buffet spread was delicious, but their prosciutto wrapped, asparagus, were so flavorful and the beef and sweet potato skewers were a show stopper! I highly recommend Thyme After Time for your next special occasion. Their staff was friendly professional and really worked hard to create an unforgettable dining experience.”
“We absolutely loved our experience here today for our anniversary. The service was friendly and the food was amazing. Definitely would recommend it to anyone wanting to celebrate or experience something different!”
Drive-Thru Restaurants
“This place had absolutely amazing cheeseburgers, staff and a welcoming atmosphere! We stopped here for a quick bite before taking our 12 year old son to a Jelly Roll concert and will definitely be back when we are back in the area. The owner and other staff members were extremely hospitable. The pumpkin Cheesecake for dessert was scrumptious as well. Thank you to all the staff for making out of towners feel like home.”

“I realized I posted a review on google but not here! The transition from Vino’s to the Blvd Grill is honestly what downtown Charleston has needed for so many years. All of the staff are amazing but I do have to say since Billie has been there it is seriously THE PLACE to be downtown. You wanna eat? They got you. Wanna play pool? They have 2 diamond tables. Wanna play darts? They have FOUR boards. Not interested in playing anything? The whole bar area is open to just hang, whether it be at the bar, the several high top tables, or the few booths they have away from to games. Listen, I might be biased, but as a frequent flyer of downtown for many, many years, I assure you this is the atmosphere Charleston has needed. And something I didn’t mention in my google review is that they also have an upstairs area that can be rented out for private events!”

“Called the restaurant many times Monday 11/4 to order food. Could not get to a live person answering call. Can only get the meal on phone, listed unavailable online. Sad can’t get answer to order food”
“I shopped here today. This store sells items that you will not find at your regular grocery store. I was looking for low sugar, low sodium, low carb, and salt free items. I will definitely go back again to shop.”
“My wife and I had our second meal at Ristorante Abruzzi last night, and it was absolutely fantastic! We sat at the bar and our bartender was a blast. Super attentive and the drinks were incredible. The Ricotta Toast appetizer was incredible, especially on the Charleston Bakery sourdough. I'm a sucker for chicken parm, and it was the special, so I had to go with it. My wife had the Cod Linguine Alla Limone. Both dishes had perfectly cooked al dente noodles, and the flavors were amazing. We also had the Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake, and it was fabulous as well. We can't wait to go back!”
Cheap Eats
“When they told me they had separate fryer that was dedicated to gluten-free, I was sold. And the food and service was amazing! I have celiac disease, and for the last 25 years going out to eat has always been so hard (with risk of getting sick). It’s still often that I get confused looks when I mention “gluten”, other places…but to have a dedicated fryer or cooking area that never happens! That made my night.. super delicious! Cannot wait to go back!! 🙏🥳”
“Looking for a place that captures the heart and soul of Charleston, WV—look no further than Rock City Cake Company. The vibe is unmatched—cool, creative, and welcoming to everyone who steps inside. The food? Absolutely fabulous. Morgan is a standout—not only a rockstar business owner and creative force, but a true asset to Charleston. Her commitment to building community, supporting the arts, and keeping downtown vibrant is something our city is lucky to have. Rock City Cake Company isn’t just a bakery or a venue—it’s a whole vibe!”
“Classic friendly dive bar, everyone was so friendly and the beers were cold. I was stopping through Charleston on a larger Amtrak trip and this was one of my favorite watering holes I discovered during my time there. I was there for an hour or two during Jazz night too which was an even more fortunate coincidence.”
“Had an awesome time with both bartenders on 4/12/25!”
“Nice service bar in the food court of the Charleston Town Center Mall. Clean, tasty and quick. Good variety of dishes. Fresh steamed rice served with well prepared complimentary meats and veggies. Great if you're in a hurry. Take out too!”
“This was our first time eating here but differently not our last. Great atmosphere, service and delicious food.”
“Our food and service was amazing. The hostess, Carmen, is an absolute doll and so friendly! Our server was Caleb and he did an awesome job. Loved everything we ordered and the experience of cooking our steaks on the lava stone was so fun. Definitely recommend 100%.”
“Thank you for requiring unvaccinated staff to wear masks! Please make sure the vendors are also following this rule!! It is important to keep children and those who truly cannot get vaccinated safe. Good job!”

“I’ve had the pleasure of eating brunch here multiple times, whatever I’ve chosen, has been amazing. The past few times I’ve selected the chicken and waffles brunch item. Normally is it a good sized selection of chicken tenders, today however, it was a selection of bone in chicken wings, thighs, and breasts. This made the meal so much better! The savory meat with the sweet waffle and candied jalapeños, amazing! It for sure entered the clean plate club! I would highly recommend going and trying anything on the menu! If the food wasn’t so good, I would have been able to get a picture before I ate every bite! Maybe next time!”
“Good food and friendly courteous staff”
“We got to watch a deluge and lightning 🌩 storm from the comfort of our table at Applebee's near the big mall outside of Charleston WV. Delicious meals and appetizers and good company. Our server was nice and always ahead of our requests for drinks and anything else we needed.”
