“Run don't walk if you want authentic fish and chips just like in the UK or Ireland. This place is tucked into the Trade food hall in Irvine but it is not hard to choose what to get. The servers are so friendly! Honestly they were the only ones that were at the service counter. You'll see most empty even when you start ordering off the iPad, so it makes a difference! The ambiance is great for a Friday afternoon or anyway really. I'm speaking for the whole food hall. It's usually popping with some tables filled but rarely full unless there is an important game on in the bar area.“

“I have loved California Fish Grill since I was in college. I have been to so many locations within southern California. They are a regular favorite for my family and I consistently enjoy the quality of their seafood everytime I go. This location in Irvine is one of my favorite locations to visit. In my youngen college days, I used to get the Barramundi, but they no longer offer that option, so my new favorite has been the Sea Bass, aka the Branzino. I always get it Garlic Butter style, but I know my family and friends also enjoy their Cajun Style or the half half with half garlic butter and half Cajun. You get 2 sides with your protein, and I would rotate between the Diced Zucchini and Rosemary, Cauliflower Rice, Fire Roasted Street Corn, Brussel Sprouts, Asparagus or my mom's favorite the Sweet Potato Fries. I didn't know my love for CFG could grow even more. But recently I had the honor to host an American Cancer Society fundraiser with CFG and I was blown away by the level of professionalism and sincere care from their entire team. Sara Adachi is their Marketing Coordinator who I worked with closely throughout the process. She was so helpful and we even received a banner to help us promote our event. I host ACS events all year long and my experience with Sara has been the best. I also felt support from their Regional Manager Hugo Estrada, their Chief Marketing Officer Mark Hardison, and their entire staff on the day of the event at this location. I love California Fish Grill, and now I love it even more. They stand for the community and now every time I eat at CFG I feel like I am supporting a business who cares, and that makes me feel good about my choice. My entire team at work agrees that California Fish Grill has our heart, and we definitely have them on the rotation for spots to go for lunch or to cater to for our office events. “First impression is that this place is small on the inside. Not too much room for dinning in maybe about 12 people fit inside. The guy that is taking your order is the owner I’m assuming, he’s not super welcoming, he’s just there waiting for your order but no greeting at all. It was our first time there so we didn’t know what to order, we had to ask the cook about the menu since the owner wasn’t the friendliest. The cook was nice and explained how everything worked. The prices are not bad they are about average, the food was good. The food took about 15 minutes after we ordered it. I would come again if I was in the area but wouldn’t go out of my way to come here“

“Writing this as I eat! Great service, very fresh and well cooked food, and the flavor is awesome. Highly recommend!! The prices are honestly really great too.Ordered Mahi Mahi with Seasoned olive oil, rice, and upgraded side of corn with an added shrimp skewer Cajun style. With tip it was around $23“

“I would give them 5 stars but the tartar sauce is missing that punch. Everything else was perfect! Customer service was fast and friendly, the batter for the fish and chips was good. I prefer more salt on my chips but that's a preference so no complaints.“

“We came for a birthday on a Thursday around 4 and I’m glad we did, it felt like we had the whole restaurant to ourselves until others showed towards the end of our meal.It’s been a long time since we had crab so we got the snow crabs, two clusters each with garlic butter and sausage. It got very messy but worth the trouble.Before leaving we even decided to order a pound of shrimp with heads on to go to eat later in the day.Surprisingly it was as expensive as I was prepared to pay, I thought it’d be closer to $300 but with tip and taxes it came out to $216.72. They also give complimentary coconut pineapple ice cream, not a fan of coconut but the ice cream was actually pretty good.“

“Can’t say enough good things about this gem - from the friendly staff to the excellent food at reasonable prices. They offer beer and wine too. All their fish is great and they really know how to properly prepare it. From traditional fish and rice to poke and even really good guacamole. Locally owned. Try it. I eat at Spike’s weekly.“

“You'd never expect the food here if you never went in. Fish, rice, beans, tortillas is perfect to make 4 tacos with spicy salsa. The fish is quality fish n fried perfectly every time. I've tried the friend zucchini n it's perfectly just sliced n breaded too.“

“More like a fast food place than a dining experience. Food was done well the parking was sufficient everything was very clean and the staff was friendly. Every plate I seen looked done well nothing looked over sucked which tends to happen in these type of places. So I would say they’re on the top of the list for this type of a restaurant/food place.“

“I love all the various grilled seafood plates and their a la carte tacos! Tried the grilled shrimp and avocado salad which was really good too.I must say, I missed their self serve salsa, and sauces. Also not sure why they got rid of their buzzer/pager system and now they just shout your name“

“Better than Shawarma house?? I think so! (Not to knock shawarma house I love they place) I got the beef shawarma wrap and pretty damn good. Meat was juicy, soft and flavorful. Fresh veggies and deliciously soft bread. Tabbouleh salad was awesome too. Citrusy, sour, and fresh with the right amount of garlic. The garlic sauce and hot sauce was amazing as well. Hot sauce had a earthy flavor I couldn't put my finger on but went great with the garlic. The owner and his (what I assume to be) daughter were awesome too. Friendly and welcoming. 10/10 will be back!“
