“Sometimes I feel bad because I think I rate businesses too harshly, like maybe I just expect too much. Then I come to places like this and I see what a 5-star rating restaurant truly looks like.Everything was amazing. Our server was on top of things, continually filling our waters and we never ran low. Our food was delivered quick and fully correct. I ordered the crispy chicken, and, while I'm not a fan of collards (my wife loved them), it was one of the best meals I've had. The presentation was incredible and truly a 5-star dining experience.They don't have a kids menu, but since we really wanted to come here, we called ahead and they graciously said they can make something work. Our girls ordered chicken tenders and fries and they said it was the best (direct quote) chicken tenders they've ever gotten! I can't give this place higher praise than that.Richard, the owner, stopped by our table at the end of our meal and we had a great conversation about their story, their travels, and what led them to open this place that used to be a run-down gas station. This place is the definition of 'excellence' that so many restaurants promise but fail to live up to. “I was born and raised and Florida and moved to nc about 3 years ago. I'm half Cuban and i have been trying to find a Cuban place here that is close to what i grew up eating in Orlando and Miami. Look no further guys. This place is the real deal! Real Cuban owner. Authentic Cuban food and wonderful atmosphere. I absolutely LOVE it and it reminds me of the Cuban food i ate growing up. Please please give this place a try. 10/10 would always recommend”

“We came here for dinner one night while in BM and had a great experience. This place came recommended from a friend and we could see why! The tacos were excellent and our whole table loved the chips and guac/queso dip. It's counter service, and they recommended '1 taco is a snack, 2 tacos are a meal', so, being hungry, I got three. All three were overflowing to the point I had to eat some before attempting to roll it up (a great problem to have). I love this place and am making it a 'must-have' on our next visit to BM!”

“Loved the atmosphere. Really enjoyed listening to Trevor perform, he knows how to get the crowd going. Disappointed in my drink, got an old fashion, way too strong, could barely drink half of it, tasted like straight up alcohol...”

“I came later in the day, so the market was already closed. It's a small place sort of tucked away. I really enjoyed the drink and app that I got. The menu selection is small, but really inventive as others have mentioned. I will note this was on the pricier side, for a drink and app I spent $30. This isn't a "cheep find" in my opinion. Will return to check out their market.”

“Couldn't love this place more. Small but mighty menu, great service and a very cool space - what else can I get ya? Had a bourbon/honey/thyme drink (well, two), a half greens salad with cilantro dressing and a Cuban bowl with mustard roasted pork. 11/10 across the board, and served up by a great crew. “Food here is absolutely a must try! I got the Egg Special (served only on Sundays), which can be described as a Egg Benedict but with a twist! Sauce is super yummy and the sausage is amazing! From what I understood, the sausage is locally sourced and it has a lot of flavor! If you go for this dish, I assure you, you wont regret it! The French Toast was alright, nothing out of the ordinary. If you are looking for something sweet, try something else on the menu. The place itself has a homie feeling! And the people are very friendly!”

“Great beer, great staff, excellent service. This is, by far, the best brewery in Black Mountain and a contender for best brewery in the Greater Asheville area. It’s a must visit and we will be back in Nov, if not sooner!”

“We came here for dinner. We sat on the patio since we had our dog and they were kind to seat us, even though it was chilly and there was no one else on the patio. Service was friendly and quick. I ordered a stromboli which was fine but not cooked all the way through. They were very accommodating and fixed the issue right away. Still our favorite pizza spot in BM.”

“We stayed at the inn, so we definitely had breakfast and also chose to eat dinner there one night. The food was very good and cooked perfectly. The staff were friendly. We loved the quiet and slower pace atmosphere. We needed a nice getaway and good food and Red Rocker Inn delivered. We would highly recommend.”

“Not gonna lie, I was a little doubtful about this place but…. We walked in to this unique little spot and enjoyed some banging bowls. Shrimp, steak and chicken was all cooked great, ramen was on point and the service was impeccable. Great little chill spot for lunch and dinner.”

“This place has become a 'must' every time we visit BM. I was so excited to show our girls the biscuits 'as big as plates' and it was even better than I remembered. Everyone loved their meal. I ordered the Lookout with a side of grits. I literally can't find one thing that needs to be improved with the biscuit meal and the grits were honestly the best I've ever had. I was blown away. Tip: know that there's probably a wait here. We came on Friday morning and while there were a few tables open, they seemed short-staffed and we had to wait in line. But, people are waiting in line because it's totally worth it. I freaking love this place!”

“This coffee if so good! I always get drip when I come, whatever is the lighter drip for the day. The porch is a great place to chill, and they have a large vinyl selection inside with a player and speakers. I've always had a good experience with the staff too. If you like really good coffee fresh from the roasters down the road, you have to come here!!! Also, they usually have the windows open in the warmer months, so you can get free smells just by parking in the parking lot!”

“A cute and cozy cafe nestled in the heart of Black Mountain! The atmosphere of the physical space is really lovely. There is lots of seating and wifi amidst a calm setting. I was happy to find no distractingly loud music playing, which I’ve noticed has become popular in coffee shops. The barista who made my latte was very sweet, and made a beautiful rosetta! Plenty of pastries. They even had gf + vegan options from the local company, Dolci di Maria. A cute little spot to hit up before/after a hike or yoga class (shoutout Black Mountain Yoga)! Definitely check it out.Dietary restrictions: Gf + vegan pastry options! Limited, but they’re there!”

“My kids and I drove more than 30 minutes to go to Pelican as a special treat for my daughter who did something really difficult earlier in the day. Google said it was open but when we got there the owner said it was a mistake and they were doing training. It had been a very long and stressful day and contemplating the hour of driving for nothing made me pretty upset. The owner could have totally ignored me but instead he got the trainee to make my kids two snocones and gave them for free. Thank you so much for this act of kindness. It meant a lot to me and my kids. Highly recommend and the snow cones were absolutely delicious!”

“A very nice little coffee shop with breakfast and lunch sandwiches..There is indoor a d outdoor seating...The staff is very friendly and helpful...They also have great desserts and offer local honey and various other items...It's connected with Cheryl's Place which is a very nice thrift store with a small gallery room from local artists...One of my favorite places to stop...”

“We got there around 5:15pm on a Saturday evening and just in time to beat the crowd. (We had tickets to a performance). I had never eaten there before. The food was delicious and the proportion was large. I had the pad woon Sen- easily the best I have eaten anywhere. Large shrimp and very fresh vegetables- so good! The atmosphere is comfortable, cozy and relatively quiet, especially for what became a busy Saturday night. Highly recommend!”

“Such a great spot. We were a little nervous to enter as it's located in an industrial area and the windows are covered but once inside we felt very comfortable. Belinda was super welcoming and explained the flights and tasting options to us. The other customers were fun too, comparing our notes and just chatting in general. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting and took a growler to go. Cider over Beer any day. Would definitely visit again if ever in the area.”

“Overall our experience here was pretty good. In the beginning, our server took about 20 minutes to greet us; there was another server who said it was her first day and she was training that came by to get our drink order, but it took a very long time to get our actual food order in.The food was delicious, my husband and I both got Cesar salads and the deviled eggs to start. For dinner we got the shrimp and grits and the souther fried chicken, both were wonderful. For dessert we split the chocolate ice cream, and our server comped for us after asking if we were celebrating anything and we mentioned it was our first wedding anniversary. It was a nice way to end our evening.”

“As a long-time bread and pizza maker at home, I picked this restaurant based on pictures of the pizza crust—beautiful open crumb that looked like it would be crisp and chewy without being dense. I was not disappointed! Excellent pizza. Tuscan salad was the perfect complement. Loved watching the pizza being made, too.”

“This place is great! I hadn't been to a German restaurant in a very long time. Our server was attentive, making sure our drinks were refilled. The potato pancakes were an excellent choice for an appetizer and the schnitzel sandwich was delicious. If I lived in this area, I'd be here regularly. The front of the restaurant is very "diner"-ish but once you get further back into it, the seating is more desirable as is the atmosphere. They have outdoor seating as well for folks who have pets with them. Very nice place and looking forward to a return visit when I am in the area again.”

“A local gem. My family really enjoys Ole's. The food is always great, friendly and helpful staff, affordable prices. We get takeout more than we dine in and they never mince on takeout orders.During peak times, parking can get crazy, but people just park in the grass along the street on the opposite side of the restaurant.Sit out back when the weather is nice!”

“The Railyard went beyond our expectations hosting our 2-day family reunion. The venue easily accommodated our clan of 38 adults and 25 children. The sweet-spirited staff and servers were attentive to our every need and request. The food was delicious and s plentiful. The venue was thoughtfully appointed with elegant and comfortable chairs, white table clothes, and fresh flowers and potted plants. The room is almost sound-proof from outdoor music, which was important since we had our own talent show. We also used the outdoor area for extended dining space and a place for the children to play. Salina will help plan your perfect party!”

“This location is in a cute little mountain town and definitely worth a visit in. I got the caramel pecan apple and oh my word it was some of the best caramel I’ve had. I did get ice cream later in the day at a different location that was delicious as well!!”

“We ordered a Smokehouse Poutine and smoked olives. The poutine is curly fries (the best fries than I have ever tasted) and pulled pork, beer cheese sauce. The olives were a surprise for me, an incredible flavor! I recommend it. A great visit if you are around Black Mountain.”

“One of the best pizzas I've had. We got just traditional pepperoni and it was fantastic. The garlic and flavor of the bread and the sauce are amazing. Cool place with nice bar. Service was great.”

“Consistently good food at a reasonable tariff. Service can be a bit hit or miss though. If you're a known local you're golden, but visitors seem to receive a slightly cold shoulder. That aside, I never come to Black Mountain without a stop here.”

“We were greeted promptly upon walking in and the scooper was friendly. The location was small but nearly organized. The ice cream case wasn't full, which was kind of disappointing; but, it's not tourist season, so it's understandable. They had about 10 or so dairy ice cream options and about 8 non-dairy options... Including one made from pepita milk, which is something I've never seen before. I opted for the blueberry ice cream and a cinnamon non-dairy ice cream. One can get a sugar cone or cake cone at no extra charge. They also offer a gf sugar cone or a waffle cone at an extra charge. Both of the ice cream flavors were good. The blueberry had real blueberries in it, a+ there! The cinnamon was actual cinnamon spice, not hot cinnamon, but not super creamy since it was no -dairy... If I'm remembering correctly, the base was oatmilk. I would like to visit again during tourist season so the case is full of flavors. My friend said she had a cardamom ice cream here before that was delicious!”

“Relaxing. Outdoor taproom and picnic tables in the shade. Beer was great. Had the pale ale and brown ale. Both were fantastic and I took home some cans. They have everything on tap except the nitro stout in cans. Bluegrass music in the background. Would def recommend. Bathrooms are portable toilets. They have a big stage and music on Sundays but we weren’t there for the music. 100% recommend for some relaxing beers. You drive behind the buildings and park in the field.”

“We always have a great experience at Four Sisters. Delicious pastries, great Dynamite coffee, nice indoor and outdoor spaces. With all the white pine trees surrounding the bakery, this Black Mountain spot instantly feels relaxing. We're always warmly welcomed by June at the front counter. We love the recent addition of the Butter Boy claw machine on the porch... so fun! Everyone seems to love it.”

“I moved to Black Mountain 7 years ago and heard the mantra, "Theres no good Chinese food in WNC" I even drove as far as Greenville, SC to get really spectacular and fresh Chinese cuisine. Something happened with No. 1. I don't know if the place changed hands or chefs over the years but going back recently was a major improvement. The Soups were tasty, the Fried Rice was fresh and full of ingredients and the Sesame Chicken was special. The only thing I wish they would improve is the fried dumplings which look to be deep fat fried instead of boiled then lightly stir fried.”
