El Colmado Corp Dominican • $
309 E Houston St, New York

“This place is very clean, has nice staff, and cooks up pretty authentic Dominican food. I ate a delicious plate of tres golpes and received a fresh plate of food with a generous portion of mangu. Wish we had places like this on the West Coast. I will come back for sure next time I’m in NYC!“

“The closest you will get to Dominican food without being in Dominican Republic. The sangria is also extremely strong, which is an amazing thing. Absolutely love this place, strongly recommend everything on the menu especially the rotisserie chicken, best chicken ever, my go-to spot every time I cross the GWB. 5/5“

Johns Fried Chicken Dominican • $

“The food is much better for me VS El Jobito across the street. I'm surprised I don't have to pay more than $10 for most dishes, this depends on the amount taken out/eaten inside but I think it's reasonable. Not to mention nicer vegetables/salads too, when one needs a side dish.“

“Cubanos were very cheap and good. Their breads were fresh and tasted really good. I didn't have time to order a fresh Dominican cake for my mom so I tried this place for the first time eventhough I was afraid they would taste old, but the price was very affordable so I bought two a tres leche and a pineapple one and they were both really good. My mom loved them. They both tasted fresh as well. They're open 24 hours so this will definitely be my go to spot for Dominican cakes. Also I gave them a 5 but that was based on the full cakes, sandwiches and breads that I bought. I tried the slices from the dessert displays and they were not good at all so I definitely won't be getting desserts from the display. Just full cakes, breads, sandwiches and coffees“

“Right here in this little food joint, I find the best chicharrones in NYC. It is served hot and fresh. I notice the chicharrones are cooked as soon as the first batch is about to be sold out...I had the chicharrones served with sweet potatoes. The only complain That I can make is that they didn't have the little salad. I like my chicharrones served with yucca, sweet potatoes and salad prepared with red anions, cilantro toss with lime juice and pinch of salt and fresh pepper?‍♂️Any way, the chicharrones is the big winner in this restaurant. I'd definitely spread the word out for this restaurant...With regard to service, the staff is not friendly a little bit tough. I'd appreciate if they become a little more polite and courteous...And finally, this place is more like a Deli with a mini table counter attach to the wall and with only 3 stools...there is no tables here...“

Who was really sweet.A constant line of folks come and go. I was lucky and had no wait. As I heard some days, the lines are pretty longThe spot is pretty popular. On the day I went, there was media as well.Made with red beans, cinnamon, nutmeg, coconut milk, evaporated milk, and dunked with milk cookiesThis drink is great. It's almost like hot chocolate but not quiet. It's warm , silky smooth little nutty, creamy and sweet. It'a known as a deseert as well.It does have a holiday drink vibe to it.Habichuelas means beansThe drink is $2. They also sell a corn based dessert. Looked popular. Will get it next time.“
