“i absolutely love this place. first time i came for dinner at around 7 and we got chef’s skewers, gyu don, and kimchi cream udon. my boyfriend and i loved our entrees but didnt really like the skewers that much. i think they were a little on the pricey side for 4 skewers and 1 being grilled peppers. we also had to wait a little bit around 10-20 mins? the second time, we came for lunch at around 12 and did not have to wait. we got gyudon and the nikomi hamburg tei. they were both good and came with a side of tofu and miso soup. the hamburger tei was a lOt though and i struggled to finish it :(( for lunch price tho it was worth it. will definitely be coming back !!“

“Very cool omakase counter in the sub $200 range that differentiates itself with its trendy vibe and interesting ingredient combinations.Juku does not pretend to be something it isn't. It feels upscale but casual with lofi hop in the background and professional service. The chefs are effortlessly personable and knowledgeable. The nigiri are beautifully presented. The strong suit is the quantity and variety with 17 pieces and a hand roll featuring omakase's greatest hits as well as some less typical selections. Most of the fish are from Spain, Hokkaido, or southern Japan. The highlights included the Hotate with smoked sea salt, the layered chu toro and otoro, the ikura, the yellowtail belly, and the uni but I enjoyed every piece. There is interesting and restrained use of garnish like pickled scallion and even ghost pepper salt. The rice has a clean, tart vinegar taste and a firm texture with discrete grains.Overall the cool and casual vibe here pairs perfectly with the restrained creativity in this quality omakase. I will be back.“

“Wow, this place was so awesome. The food, the vibe, and the service were phenomenal. Ever wanted to have an inexpensive quality 7-course meal at a laid back but hip bar with music from vinyls that each guest including yourself can pick while the staff cooks the food fresh and serves it family style? Look no further, assuming you can nab a reservation. And if you're hungry after dessert (you probably won't be), you'll get a freshly baked thick crust pizza square grandma style still warm for the road.Breath in. Go there, bring your friends, be nice.“

“So happy that this place opened near me. I used to trek to Columbus Circle for good yakitori but now I can just pop in here- great food, cool ambiance, and terrific service. Their daily $1 specials are a steal! Will come next time during happy hour for discounted drinks as well.“

“I have now been here twice, once for sip and once for guzzle. I think in my honest opinion sip had much more elevated experience. I would go back and splurge on a wagyu sando. Their drinks were delicious, I tried the grandmother apple pie and tomato tree (loved the flavors). Also loved the tartare. Guzzle had way more of a laid back atmosphere, and the food was a bit more hearty/interesting. I tried the electric chicken and fried mochi and ice cream. Tried a yuzu drink. Overall good but I think I prefer sip atmosphere / vibe and offerings. I would go back to the sip section, but unclear if I would go back for guzzle.“

“Definitely one of my favorite yakitori spots. This place can get packed at night although the wait usually moves pretty quickly, it can be long if your timing is unlucky. I really only ever get yakitori here. They have a lot of fried options, I gave a lot of them a try, but never really liked any of them (and I generally like fried food, who doesn't?!?) maybe I am just more familiar with the traditional grilled yakitori, I would recommend sticking mostly with that. I can't say which item is my favorite, I really like everything! Definitely ask for extra lemon wedges, the acid really goes well with the smokiness of the meats. Can't wait to come back again!“

“We loved this authentic Japanese restaurant. Our server helped us choose apps and meals- and they were delicious! The fish cakes, pickled vegetables, fresh raw fish, young chicken and the salted cod were outstanding. We also found the matcha crème brûlée earthy and unusual for dessert. The server helped us find sake's that we had never tried. Great sake list! Must try place.“

“First visited in September 2022 and loved the place! I was visiting the city again, and decided to have my last meal here again. Delicious just as I remembered.Sadly I didn’t see the Japanese masks that used to hang on the walls by the booths. They added a nice charm to the place.“

“What a great find! Stumbled upon this small, well-run, warm Japanese restaurant specializing in delicious dishes of many kinds. We had delicious salmon over rice, fantastic salmon and mushrooms in miso cooked in foil, outstanding miso soup, and their fabulous panda cotta dessert. I can't wait to go back and try other things and enjoy the wonderful service by the earnest staff.“

“Happy to have caught the happy hour that ends at 7. Unlike a lot of places that only offer it on beer & well liquors, cocktails were included here. The food was good. We shared shishito peppers, gyoza, and 2 rolls (Golden & Mina.) The place itself is cute. Like someone else said, the booths are definitely cozier but the table section is not bad. The service was good and all the staff was attentive.“

“Ah, it's delicious.. It's better than the Japanese ramen I had in Korea... Maybe it's natural considering the price range... But it's delicious. The noodles are chewy, the chashu is soft, and the egg is too soft. The soup is really rich and salty. The selection that came with it. Tid beer is cool and refreshing with a refreshing taste like a clean white wine severed by sunny!! Thank you!!“

“I wouldn’t call Katana a dive bar, but on a Tuesday night it felt like a great neighborhood bar. Relaxed atmosphere. Was surprised at how small it was but that added to the chill vibe. I bet on a Thirsty Thursday and the weekend that all changes, but the bartenders and the craft cocktails will be just as great.“
