“I had the pork plate with beans and cole slaw. There was plenty of good food at a good price and I really liked the thick sauce. Pay no attention to the nit picking ninnies elsewhere in the reviews. Were the beans canned? I don't know. The roll that came with the meal was not hand made on-site, so what. Go in and enjoy a good meal, at a good price, served by really good people. I double dog dare ya.“
“Went to this restaurant for the first time yesterday. Ordered 2 to go meals. Food was great! However, it was a bit disorganized. I waited almost 30 minutes for my food, then found out it had been set out for pick up about 10 minutes earlier! No one had noticed it. We will back to eat there. But this time in the dining area!“
“I haven't made it to Tate's for several years, but it is the best BBQ out there. The meat has flavor and the Carolina, vinegar based sauce is my favorite. It was rarely a family event when we didn't make it to Tate's to pick up pulled pork. If you want a sweet sauce, this is not really your place. This is truly a hole in the wall, and the hours are limited, and not always followed (the only reason it doesn't get a 5 for me), but the smoke flavor is better than most of the big name places. It was so nice to enjoy our 3 pounds we brought home and had on sandwiches for the fourth. It tasted like home. To the owners of Tate's-I have never found another place that does it quiet like you do. This is the best. Only advice-call ahead! This way you don't miss them! “We had great service and enjoyed the BBQ and catfish and shrimp. Lots of sides and hushpuppies! We had six in our group and our server did great on refills and nearly had to carry us to the car after eating so much. We enjoyed it all. Thanks!“
