“I visited Woodfire Restaurant and Catering on Labor Day weekend with a group of 4. We made a reservation and when we arrived we were politely informed our table would be a few more minutes as they were short staffed. We were able to sit at the bar and enjoy a drink while waiting.We ordered a variety of items to share - Jumbo shrimp, flatbread, pizza, salad, soup, Gertie fries, and more. The food was delicious, fresh and the portions were generous. I also appreciated the care to ensuring items were gluten free (I am celiac).The service was a bit slow (but it was prefaced that they were short staffed) but we enjoyed a really lovely evening. I would definitely go back next time I visit Gabriola.“

“Incredible food and service. The chowder was unbelievable and the smoked prawns made it perfect. the light fluffy and juicy halibut burger was incredible. the pork belly taco was also amazing and so much flavor. this place is a real gem!!! I can't wait to go back“

“Took my little brother here for his birthday and it was great! Lots of food and it was delicious (I left with a box and bro left full, which never happens). Service was wonderful, atmosphere/setting was really nice but not uncomfortable. And of course The View's view was gorgeous“

“This has to be one of the best places in Nanaimo to get fish. We got the 2 piece haddock meal each and it comes with a ton of fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce. The fish is perfectly crispy fish was cooked perfect fries were seriously like biting into fluffy clouds. The service was super friendly and all around great atmosphere. We decided to try here for Valentine’s Day and are so happy we did. The only thing I would suggest is for them to up the size of tartar sauce to the coleslaw container size because it’s so tasty you’ll want more. Absolutely if you are reading this you have to try it. It’s totally worth the price for some extremely fresh fish. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the portion sizes are huge you can’t tell from the pic but there is a load of fries under the fish. I was so full after a piece and a half. I think ours may have been missing a lemon wedge based off everyone’s photos (ours didn’t have one ) . That would have been the perfect touch lol. Dang it.“

“Just passing through on our way onto and from Vancouver Island. When I first saw they used gluten free batter, I was excited but resigned to getting delicious fish covered in some type of batter. Gluten free fish and chip is rare enough that you eat what you can find and are grateful. Very much wonderfully surprised to bite into my piece of fried salmon and feel that crunch along with an explosion of flavor to complement the fish. The seafood cakes were also fantastic and we couldn't get enough. Only caveat is that seating is limited but what can you do when having a floating restaurant on a dock surrounded by boats? Loved eating our lunch and watching the boats arrive and leave the harbor. Made sure to come back again before we left the island.“

“Short day trip to Nanaimo and was recommended to stop here to grab a quick lunch. Everything was really good. The server was super kind and friendly. The food was amazing too. We got the ceviche, chips and salsa, and chicken enchiladas (red sauce). We also got some iced teas to beat the heat. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Would absolutely visit again in the future when in town!“

“I wanted to try sushi but was a little nervous to eat raw seafood so the chef was very nice and cooked the salmon & tuna for me and it was delicious! I'm so glad that I stepped out of the box and tried sushi, because now I love it! Paige was our server and she was very sweet and helpful and the manager was very friendly. We will definately eat there again!“

“We had a birthday celebration for 8 people. The food was very good and Penny, the waitperson was impeccable. The experience has left us completely satisfied and the flexibility of the menu was so appreciated. “Had a vegan dinner there, for a special event. My food was tasty! The fettuccine could have been better with a bit of sauce or broth. But, great flavour with really fresh ingredients! Great atmosphere and amazing view, looking over the harbour lights. Superb service!“
