“STEPH JUDGEMENT: Charming atmosphere and good food, but slightly uneven service. We were staying at the hotel and decided to try it for breakfast. It had an adorable retro 1930s vibe going on, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered a coffee and their smoked salmon and latke (same as hash browns), and was pleasantly surprised by an unexpected poached egg. The hubby ordered two scrambled eggs and "cool ranch" hash browns (basically cool ranch dust). Everything was delicious, but after the server dropped off our food she was nowhere to be seen for a while, and it took some time to settle our bill. Luckily we weren't in a hurry, and I believe they had just opened, so I'm sure the service will improve as they get their bearings. I'd definitely like to try them again when next in the area.“
“Customer service was stellar! Since it was my first time, he helped me choose items and answered any questions I had. I ended up getting the beef lunch plate. Food was amazing. Very comforting and exactly what I needed after not eating the entire day.“
“I ordered the No. 3 with eggs, pancakes, bacon and potatoes. Everything tasted fresh and good and even the coffee is good! Don’t expect to not be a little greasy, but this place is a winner! Very big lines outside waiting but because I was on my own I got a seat at the counter. Highly recommend.“
“I enjoyed the food, the service, the music, and the vibe!!! I ordered shrimp and grits and it was delicious. My family ordered oxtails and chicken and waffles and they enjoyed their food as well. Brandon our server was awesome. He had great energy and a good attitude. This place is on point in every way!! I would give 10 stars if that was an option.“
“Highly recommended. The Denae's Slam is so good. The doctored up hash browns were great. The only negative was that the sausage was a little overcooked. The$5.00 Bloody Mary's were VERY tasty! Our server, Carla, was very pleasant and thorough. Thanks, Carla.“
“Excellent kabobs, probably the best I've had in LA in the 5 years I've lived here. It's located in the middle of a residential area, and I had heard about it from so many people so I had to finally try it. I got the beef and chicken combo plate, and the meat was very tender and full of flavor. There isn't really a place to sit down and dine unless you want to sit at the one table out front, it seems like more of a takeout spot. The staff is INCREDIBLY friendly. A true " your friendly neighborhood" type of feel. I really appreciated that.I will add that they are very popular, so I would recommend calling in your order in advance for pickup to save yourself what could be a 1-2 hour wait. Much easier to then just go pick it up when it's ready.Parking: It's located in the middle of a residential area, so you have to find parking along the street. Alternatively, there is a shopping plaza about half-a-block away, and you could just quickly park there if you're picking up.“
“Great Pan Roast. The dining room has 40 seats, a bar, or sit at the chefs counter to watch the steam kettle chefs cook your food without having to go to a Palace train station in Vegas. Plus, we didn't have a wait on Sunday at 3pm.Parking: Plenty of parking, plus there's an underground lot.“
“The roti wraps here are unique to me, primarily because I personally haven't seen or experienced lots of Caribbean food here in LA. I ordered the:- Red Pepper Goat Roti w/ Peanut Sauce- Green Curry Shrimp and Potato PattyI really enjoyed these. The roti had a delicate outside that was able to hold the flavorful meat bursting with spices along side the other ingredients filling this delicious wrap. The shrimp/ potato patty had so much flavor as well. At first I thought this was pricey, but seriously I was so full and you do get a lot of good food. Well worth the price. Because you do order online from your phone and pick up along a not busy (at the time) street from the side of the building, there's really not much in terms of service or ambiance. I will note, however, the person who handed me my food when it was ready it was super friendly. And sometimes, honestly, I prefer little interaction when I just want to order food and take it with me. The next time I come back, I would definitely like to try the Mama's curry chicken. Or possibly one of their vegetarian options. Some of the other sides also look very tasty which I think warrants a return visit soon. I just didn't have enough room to try everything on my first visit.“
“Dropped in on a rainy day, was greeted immediately and was sat in a nice booth. We ordered a salad and the special of the day, "A Spicy Meat-a Ball-a". Great ingredient combo and had a nice thin crust...very edible ?. The house salad was fresh and with their unique dressing, it was surprisingly delicious. Will definitely be a repeat customer!“
“Food seems tasty. Had 1/4 pound brisket. It's juicy and flavorful. The fat cap well seasoned and flavored. The elote is pretty good; creamy and a slight hint of heat. Complimented with garlic toast. This is a taste test; we're looking into possible catering with them for thanksgiving lunch.“
“i love the sweet potato fries here, they have a little sugar coating on top :] its a pretty nice place to have some snacks and hang out with friends :]Kid-friendliness: there’s like 2 board games here? and a small seating area for kids (pictures taken)“
“Amazing wagyu burgers. Me and my gf got the double and bbq pork burgers and it was so good. A lil bit pricey but not overpriced. A double cheeseburger combo came out to be 15$ but considering it's wagyu not too bad would be 4/5 cause of the prices but the burgers were really good.“
“This place is pretty good as far as hot chicken goes. It's not the best but it's decent, I've ordered from here plenty of times. But Rays is still at the top. They don't really have much of a space for sitting in and dining. So if you want to eat you need to go down one of the nearby alleyways and sit at the tables there.“
“What a great find this was. Everything we had was just wonderful. Cioppino, corn bread, the wedge salad were the perks. We weren't big fans of the fried chicken or the potato chips. They were a little bland tasting. Our server was Anthony and he was amazing. Always attentive and friendly. This place is definitely worth a try.“
“Great place to hang out. They have an awesome selection of beers, cocktails, and wine. They have mocktails for the kids too. If you like board games they have plenty to pick from but you can also hang out and play D&D or watch streamers play on their tvs.The food is a hidden gem. I've tried almost everything on the menu and my favorites are the Mac and Cheese, sweet potato tots, and the cheese board. Pork sandwich gets an honorable mention as well.Kid-friendliness: They have mocktails and lots of kid friendly games.“
“My husband and i had dinner at Modern Sherman and we loved it, we ordered the menudo, artichoke tacos and the shrimp tacos. Everything was delicious, we will definitely comeback again to try more dishes and deserts , we highly recommend it.“
“A very atmospheric bar. On a weekend, almost all the tables were occupied, but there was no noise inside. The food is very tasty, the meat in the burger has the smell of the grill ❤️ it's fantastic. The service was good too. The interior is beautiful.I really liked the place!Parking inside the shopping center for $10 - 2 hours“
“My dear friend from work and I go way back in the late 1990's. We had lunch a couple months ago to catch up on old times. It was a nice catch up... thank you my friend for your wonderful company and spending time with me! We didn't have any Pasadena restaurant of choice so we just walked down the street and happened to see Takuya Japanese Restaurant. It's a very small place with just enough space to probably fit about 5 to 6 tables. It's cute and cozy though. Nice place to take a date, but the people in the neighboring tables may hear your conversations... you may want to be discreet when you profess your love or not LOL. My friend ordered the Beef Bowl and I got the Salmon Plate plus an appetizer with Mackerel. I really liked my salmon... cooked nicely and flavor was on point. Mackerel was a tad salty IMHO, but had good fish meat... watch out for the bones. My friend said her beef bowl was good, but she would have preferred her egg on top in one piece and not scrambled into the bowl LOL. The miso soup that comes with the meals was very very good. Staff was nice and pleasant. It was a one person show so kudos to our server for keeping up with servicing all the tables. Thank you! Prices were decent. Ambience was cozy. I will definitely be back to try their other chicken and seafood dishes the next time I'm in Pasadena. Happy Takuya'ing!“
“By far one of the most authentic Taiwanese restaurants I've been to. I say this because they've nailed down classic dishes you'd find in Taiwan. The oyster pancake was spot on along with the sauce. Service is pretty fast. Definitely come here for delicious Taiwanese comfort food!“
“This place is great for studying and socializing. Sitting here with a warm comforting feeling able to know their drinks are good and food is delicious. I am able to pay attention with very little distractions. Wonderful decorations and customer service.“
“I saw a Groupon for Lobos Truck the other day and I had to buy it. It was $13 for 2 entrees and 2 drinks! What a steal! They stop by in front of my work building every now and then so it was pretty convenient for me to check them out.The Chinook: 1/3 lb. American-Kobe beef burger with garlic aioli, cheddar, lettuce, and tomato on a fresh Brioche bun. The burger was nothing special - just average. It was cooked medium rare as requested and it was well seasoned.OG Wachos: With everything. What are Wachos you ask? Waffle Fries + Nacho Toppings = Wachos. Came with Avocado, Cheese, Onions, and much more. It was amazing. The waffle fries were crisp and flavorful and it went well with all the toppings. I wish there was some heat to it though!“
“This place is an amazing brunch spot. I took my gf out to this restaurant and we both loved it. I had an amazing experience from beginning to end. We arrived at the place around 11:30 am and we quickly found parking. Upon arriving we were nicely greeted by the hostess in a polite manner and with a smile, then we were told that the wait time would be around 10 min, which ended up feeling less than that. We were seated and our waiter, Mike came to our table to take our drink orders. The drinks came fast and the food as well when we ended up ordering our food. Fast service, and very polite workers. The restrooms were very nice and clean. The ambiance was phenomenal, everything was aesthetically pleasing, homey, peaceful, and quiet. I felt like I could have a nice conversation with my gf and it would still be private. Ahhhh, and most importantly, the food did not disappoint. I got Brioche French toast w/ egg and country potatoes and I loved them, it was delicious, the portions were perfect. My gf got a pesto chicken sandwich which she loved. To drink I got a hot chocolate which was delicious and my gf got a hazelnut coffee. The total was 46.48 which I thought was reasonable, not too expensive. Just about the same cost of going to Denny’s. Overall a great experience, and a great spot to get brunch, I highly recommend it, and I give it a 10/10. If you go, be aware of their hours, they’re open every day except Tuesday, and their hours are 8 am - 1:30 pm.My order for anyone curious:Hot Chocolate: 4.00Iced Latte: 5.25(Hazelnut: 0.75)Brioche French Toast: 18.00Classic, scrambled eggs: (2.50)Auntie’s Potatoes: (2.50)Subtotal: 42.25LA Tax: 4.33Total: 46.58Parking: 2 hours free public parking in front of the restaurantWheelchair accessibility: There was a ramp“
“First time I've really enjoyed food at the Staples center. The chicken pieces were ample and very juicy, spices were on the mark and the chips were awesome!! I wish there was an outlet away from the stadium. Looking forward to going back for a game and enjoying this delicious food!!“
“I was staying at a friends house and asked if any of his local places did proper wholesome food and he recommended here! He also said it was family run, which a major plus for me, as I like to support such places if I can.We went along and after a fun chat with the waitress, placed our orders. We had soup and salad for starters, with absolutely delicious bread! Then we had Beef Pot Pie, with mashed potato, greens and thick gravy (Just like back in the UK). I have to say, it was delicious and I never thought I'd be able to have a pie and gravy in the states, like back home. This was all finished with ice-cream and I have to say the Mint choc chip reminded me of the equivalent Viennetta from home. The taste and texture, identical, which was good.Overall, the experience was excellent and the food hit the mark perfectly. I wish we had a similar place back in the UK near me.“
“Got Abuelita's pie and it was alright. I liked the main chocolate part & crust. Didn't like the whipped cream and the food was pretty pricey at $7.99/slice... Service was friendly and there was a clean place to sit. Not a place I'd go out of my way to visit, but it's there if you like pie. Money-wise, I think Wanderlust Creamery (ice cream) in the same indoor plaza is better bang for your buck.“
“Nice little hole in the wall with affordable food! I discovered this place back in undergrad when they had (and still do) have very affordable lunch specials. Will definitely be back.At the time of our visit, I believe there was only 1 server, but later on (when we were leaving), we saw another staff member walk in.“
“Drove by this place a lot while we went shopping at Good Fortune Market across street. My husband is a big fan of pan fried buns so we decided to check it out. Before came here, I looked at their menu and it had extensive and authentic flavors for dumplings and pies. That’s how I knew they were legit!!We came on a rainy Saturday around 11:30am there were only two other tables. I feel on a nice day it would be busier. For food we got:- pork scallion pie (5/5). Wowwwww a must try!! It was so juicy and flavorful. The outside is perfectly crispy. This is our favorite and we definitely will try other flavors next time.- pan fried chicken mushroom dumplings (5/5). I love the dumpling skin as you can taste the slightly chew and that’s how you know it’s handmade!- cucumber salad (5/5). Very refreshing and balance out the richness of all the fried dumplings.- pan fried bun (4/5). This is probably my least favorite although it’s still pretty good. It doesn’t have much juice as I thought it would like the pie. So I’ll stick with the pies next time.No fuss service. You order via QR code and food comes out around 10-15 minutes. They have a sign to explain the 15 min wait due to all handmade to order which is well worth it!! This has become our new go-to for weekend brunch.“
