“I recently dined at the Mediterranean Family Restaurant in Citrus Heights and we had a pleasant experience overall. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home.The food was good and had a nice authentic Mediterranean flavor to it. However, we did find that the rice served with our dishes was a little hard. Aside from that, everything else we ordered was delicious and satisfying.The service was excellent, with our server being attentive and accommodating to our needs. Overall, we had a great time dining at this establishment and would definitely consider returning in the future. It's a nice family-owned spot that serves up some tasty Mediterranean food. I'd recommend giving it a try.“
“Loved this place. We were surprised by the lentil soup and baklava that came with the meal. Such a nice touch and both were delicious. My favorite baklava I've ever had! Not too sticky and sweet, it was flaky and nutty. I would go for just that. Our entrees were delicious but honestly the flavorful rice was one of my favorite parts! Some of the best rice I've ever had. The service was good and they were all so kind. The inside is basic, but it doesn't matter because the food is good!“

“The owner is the chef. He is kind, friendly and generous. The food is all fresh, and made at the moment with care (and very fast since he has a great oven). The portions are generous and the flavor is amazing. I was greatly surprised. Great fresh ingredients and great flavor. You have to try it.The place itself is simple and looks more like a place to take food for home. I know it has some chairs and tables outside, but I don't care to take the food home. We had a great dinner.“
“I wanted to try authentic, traditional Palestinian food to show my solidarity with their people's struggle for freedom. I was visiting my sister in Sacramento, and she recommended Basha Taste of Jerusalem. They start you off with complimentary fresh baked flat bread and olive oil which tasted divine! We ordered the "Mansaf" lamb and chicken dish, and the "Maqluba" upside-down chicken and rice dish. It was absolutely phenomenal! The portions are very generous and we had lots of left overs to-go that tasted just as great the next day. I loved the interior décor and the staff were very friendly. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town to try more dishes that are not common at generic "Middle Eastern / Mediterranean" restaurants.“

“This place is a hidden gem! Came here a couple months ago and had the lamb shank and was absolutely blown away by the generous portions, flavor and freshness! Came again for the second time to try their kabobs and was mind blown once again! Most Mediterranean places take a while to prepare the food but here it was surprisingly fast! Not only is it great food but also amazing service, the staff make you feel welcome and go above and beyond. I can't wait to go back!“

“I had ordered a couple of times from doordash and really enjoyed the gyros. So, I decided to order catering for my brother's 30th birthday party. The owner was incredibly helpful in helping me choose food to feed 50 people and offered plenty of suggestions. They delivered to my party and I got tons of compliments on how delicious the food was from my guests. The chicken skewers and pita and hummus were particular favorites. Food was well packaged and perfect temperature on arrival. There was plenty of food for everyone and I spent about $15 per person. They really made it stress free and easy for me. I would absolutely consider ordering from them again if I hosted another large event.“

“This was a big favorite of ours until it closed during covid and went out of business which we lamented greatly. The new owners have kept the name, most of the decor although we were told today a few changes in that are coming. The menu seems very similar to me and the lamb shank that I was so fond of was just as good. The two friends that went with me today had never been there and they both loved it and can't wait to go back. We all had the lamb shank and the eggplant appetiser.“

I can't remember what I originally ordered, but it wasn't available and they offered an alternative which was the chicken kabob and I am glad they mentioned it because it was great. Also, the hookah and service were also decent and better priced than some other spots. Not to mention, the patio is a nice touch. I can tell this place garners some regulars too, which is a good sign to me. Definitely worth checking out and supporting this local business.“

“I think I've eaten at every Persian place in Sacramento by now, as well as a few of the Iraqi and Afghani places, and for sure there is a lot of great kabob and rice to be had at many of these places. I would rate Famous Kabob recently as one of the best. The Koubideh (ground beef) Kabob they serve is nicely cooked, tender, juicy, and the rice is always very good. I think I've been to this restaurant 6 or 7 times by now, and I'd say the quality has improved in the past couple of years. It's definitely a go-to when I need to place group orders for pickup.“
