“Lovely cozy little place with plenty of Steinbeck memorabilia to peruse through. The servers are all very kind (all volunteers!) My chicken wrap was yummy and the veggie broth and bread rolls were definitely homemade and delicious. It was definitely worth the lunch stop. Keep in mind they close at 2pm so arrive before 2.“

“Love this little place! Replaces all of our breakfast places for Monterey. Yummy breakfast for most palates, AND I added a roasted jalapeño. The coffee was good. The chef was amazing both times that we went there. But the restaurant is small and thrown together. I only care about the yummy food.Parking: There were a few street spots. Too many other customers, and I would be searching for a spot.“

“We came on our honeymoon and met family. My husband and I had omelets, and my cousins daughter had Country Benedict. My great aunt had pancakes. The breakfast was amazing. My one advice is to get there early. They were a packed house. The whole time, we were there.“

“Loved this place. Just the owner and her husband. Will definitely come back again. Going to be my go-to Chinese place in Marina. So thankful my family and I tried it. She was very kind and gave us complimentary tempura. More than enough food for the four of us!!“

“Wish they were in a higher traffic area so they could get the business they deserve. That would make it easier to flex their hours more. Perfectly cooked steak as requested, medium-rare. All meat choices are awesome. Perfect Comfort Food. ????“

“If you are visiting the area, this is a must stop place. It is my favorite restaurant in the county. Every ingredient in every dish is intentionally used, there are no lazily picked side dishes here. The small restaurant is very charming and half of their seating is outside, well covered and heated nicely. Make sure to make a reservation!“

“We had a reservation for 4 at 5:30 on a Wednesday. Parking was easy. The place was busy and noisy. We were seated immediately. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. Our group had prime rib and New York steak (and salmon filet), amazing steak, cooked to perfection along with the potatoes, veggies, and salad. Thumbs up for an outstanding steakhouse meal. We will go back soon. Oh yes, and the wine was excellent!“

“I made a quick trip this weekend to my hometown of Salinas for a cousin's funeral, and I found this place on Yelp (where else). My brother and I were hungry for breakfast and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the chilaquiles verdes with over medium eggs, beans and rice, while my brother ordered the country eggs Benedict (sausage Patty instead of Canadian bacon). The salsa verde on the chilaquiles had just enough bite without being soggy, the tortilla chips were nice and crispy, and the eggs were cooked just right. The beans and rice complimented the meal perfectly. I was going to order the optional carne asada to go on top of the chilaquiles, but honestly, I didn't miss it. The Señora, presumably the proprietor, came by our table three times with a big smile to see how we liked it. No small feat, considering how busy they were. We are very well for $41 plus tip. I will definitely return to this excellent local spot when I am in town.“

“I came here for a last minute dinner and was delightfully surprised by the prompt service. The food is delicious, and the king salmon is ah-mazing! It’s well suaved with a crispy cover. The steak is surprisingly tender too. One bummer is the bread - I wish the bread is softer. Overall, I enjoyed the meal a ton and came back for lunch the next day (again). The salmon didn’t disappoint!“

“Tico’s quickly became my girlfriend and I’s favorite restaurant in the Marina/Monterey area. While visiting the area we ended up making it a mission to go nearly everyday. The food is delicious, from breakfast to lunch items it never disappoints. And the crème brûlée was incredible and we were heartbroken when on our last day in the area they were out! The staff here bring such a kind and wholesome atmosphere, the walls painted beautiful bright colors and flowers in glass vases on each table, the music played here was so good and just wrapped up the whole vibe so neatly. Thank you Ricardo and Sylvia for such excellent service and making us feel so welcomed!! As well as the cooks who I unfortunately didn’t get the name but wow you guys can cook! We will absolutely be returning here when we visit Monterey next!!!“

“We go here for breakfast frequently. The food meets my partners expectations which are high and the service is reasonable considering it is usually one gal that handles the entire restaurant. Outdoor seating is nice but service outside is a bit more challenging. We feel comfortable and just ask if we need something.Parking: There is a small lot for parking but space also on the street most of the time.“
“An unexpected amazing dinner and experience! We had the Caesar salad and beet salads and ribeye and filet for dinner. Robust portions cooked perfectly and the side twice baked potatoes were decadent but so tasty!! Service is exceptional. We will be back!“

“We love coming here to Dudley’s on Saturday. It’s a family thing. I’ve been coming here since I was a teen with my mother and grandmother. Now I come with my husband and my mother in law. The food is just delicious. My favorite is their pancakes. Oh can’t forget their homemade salsa. I always ask for some to go home with. It’s just that good. If you never been your missing out.“

“Consistently one of the best places for breakfast in this area. Usually busy, parking is always a problem, but it's well worth it. My go-to is the huevos rancheros with chile verde and it's the stuff I dream of. It's not always on the menu, unless it's the weekend. Tortilla with a slather of beans and cheese and another tortilla on top. Pour on the delicious pork chili verde, add your eggs and a sprinkle of cotija and cilantro. Delicious! My husband loves the chicken fried steak, and theirs is the best locally. Their gravy tastes homemade and the steak is seasoned and cooked perfectly. I would add photos, but food is usually devoured so quickly after arriving that there's no time. Staff is friendly and does a good job. The same people have been there for a long time, so they must treat their staff well. Appreciate this place and highly recommend.“

“Dined here last minute after a long day chaperoning an FRC tournament.Things I loved:- they were able to quickly accommodate our party of 10 on a rainy Friday night.- when some in our party ended up not being able to come, they didn’t give us any gruff about it. We chose to shift our seats so they could break apart the big table into two smaller dining spots- good was fantastic!- started off with the sizzling mushrooms and the Brussels sprouts - it didn’t appear to be a ton of Brussels at first because they were in a single layer on a plate versus in a bowl, but it ended up being the perfect amount, and the sauce was fantastic. The sizzling mushrooms were amazing! Sorry, forgot to snag pics of those two dishes.- fish and chips were great! Tons of crispy, flaky but not dry fish atop a bed of the most interesting fries I’ve ever seen. Imagine a steak-fry-size flat potato “wedge” but curved on both ends reminding me of a flower petal. They were really great and not soggy or floppy at all! I can’t stand underdone fries.- multiple in my party had the gnocchi two ways and thought it was dynamite. They couldn’t decide if they liked the Gorgonzola or the marinara sauce better.- Beef stroganoff and the prawn risotto rounded out our meal. There wasn’t a crumb left- Bread pudding - absolutely incredible! I love bread pudding but everywhere I go people put raisins in it. Not here. A huge chunk that was perfectly cooked all the way through. There were no mushy parts and no dry parts. Definitely some of the best bread pudding had at a restaurant ever.- I definitely recommend going but between drinks, dinner and dessert I easily spent $80 on my dinner.- waitstaff was very friendlyThings I would change:- for the price point, I was expecting a slightly different atmosphere. It felt very much like a breakfast/lunch cafe that got super popular so they started doing really great dinner dishes as well. There were cloth napkins but maybe tablecloths could have changed the vibe a bit more.- our table was sitting out in the middle of the entire dining room, which I understand because we were a larger party, but I felt a little bit like I was in a fishbowl. However, I think it was partly my fault for not requesting something towards the wall. That is just a personal preference issue, though.- not a huge wine selection, options were fine but nothing spectacular and they were out of the only Chardonnay you could get by the 1/2 bottle.Dietary restrictions: Totally accommodated my crustacean allergy.“

“Stopped here for a pint and food. We split an order of 2 pieces of fish, a banger, and chips. I had the Corkscrew (closest beer to an ESB) and a 1066 Pale Ale. Both were quite tasty. The ceiling was covered with beer steins from their beer club. Enjoyed our visit. There is an outdoor patio, but it was too cold to sit outside.“

“What a hidden gem I found in Carmel Valley! Pet-friendly terrace, wonderful service, inexpensive price with super big quantity, and yum! very delicious pizza! To clarify the confusion, you can order menus of Stirup Cup Pizza here at Running Iron. My husband and I wanted some pizza after the hike at Garland park. We needed an outdoor seating to be seated with our dog. You can order pizza and eat at Running Iron! We sat with our dog at the terrace at Running Iron and ordered pizza from Stirup Cup Pizza.I ordered stuffed deep dish pizza with the menu #4 and a basket of curly fries. The portions are crazy here! The basket of curly fries was HUGE and delicious! We could not finish the medium-sized pizza. Wow, the stuffed deep dish was very creative. You should definitely try.And Connie, our waitress, was so nice and friendly. I mean, honestly, all of the staffs that served our table were so nice and kind. They seemed to enjoy their job. I genuinely appreciate their service.Of course, I am going to visit here AGAIN!“

“We enjoyed the new interior atmosphere of The Covey. It's softer, warmer and more inviting. Our party of four enjoyed beet and Caesar salads, pastas and the classic hamburger. Our waiter was terrific- he treated us with the professional familiarity appreciated in a club (we are Quail members).“

“Had breakfast. Was pretty busy at the time we arrived, but were seated quickly. Staff was nice for being quite busy. Seemed like they were handling it well. Still smiled. Didn't take long for food to be delivered to our table. My only minor issue was table was still wet from cleaning when we sat down, would've been nice if they dried it off at least. But was understandable with how busy they were.“

“Finally tried this place after contemplating it for so long, went with my partner and we both had the fried artichoke appetizer which was delicious! We both also got the tri-tip sandwich with extra BBQ sauce on the side and it was also delicious! So hearty and well seasoned and the sauce was to die for. Lorie, our server was amazing and very professional, we also met the owner and he was very welcoming and was happy to see some new faces. Did I mention the prices are also very affordable? Can't wait to try other items on the menu! We will definitely be back! This place is a true hidden gem!“

“Astonishingly great pizza. The sausage pizza with pickled shallots and calabrian chilis is almost perfection. I don't think there's a single thing I would change about it. Bread with roasted garlic is an exercise in simplicity and deliciousness. I think my only complaint there would be to salt the butter - all the ingredients were great, but a little seasoning made it exceptional. Corkscrew was about an hour away from where we were staying and it was well worth the trip. Absolutely a must visit if you're anywhere nearby.“

“My group had the best experience at the Monterey cookhouse. The brisket dip is probably the best thing I ate the whole weekend, but everything here was delicious and reasonably priced. Make sure you save room to order dessert! Staff is great, the outdoor seating area has a great ambiance. Definitely recommend.“
“Les (and Mike) have been our hosts on multiple occasions over the past four years. We have hosted family reunions, college Christmas parties and company gatherings. Each time, Les and her staff have gone out of their way to make sure that the Lodge feels like returning home. “Husband plays pickle ball here and has brought me for dinner twice now. What a pleasant surprise! Tonight, (granted I've been dieting since February so "bland" has been my thing) I treated myself to a chicken quesadilla. Silly me expected a kid's meal type thing but what I got was SO good! Chicken, sautéed with red peppers, red onion, zucchini, light cheese. Grilled tortilla too! I had to thank the chef! Inexpensive, lovely dining room at a very pretty courts/pool club. Definitely will be a regular.“
