“My last trip to Yoshinoya wasn't the experience I remember in terms of the food. Seems like the meat is really cut in half into shreds. Wasn't satisfied with a large bowl on my own.Other than that, the staff members were polite and hard working. Like many places, they seem to be understaffed. So you might have to wait long as the staff have to carry so many tasks at one time. Just one at the register and one cook.Be patient or go somewhere else if youre on a tight schedule.Still not a deal breaker, will come back again soon.“
“Lovely spot with incredible atmosphere and food. The food was presented nicely and tasted even better. Would highly recommend the scallop/uni course and the skewers! the beef tongue was our favourite. As for the bone marrow, it was a little shallow and the miso overpowered it.Overall, I’d highly recommend n/soto to anyone looking for Japanese food around the area. Would definitely come again.“
“Very elegant and peaceful atmosphere with a very personalable staff. Took a few minutes of standing around to find the right door, but then we were set for the evening meal.I've never had fish that tasted so fresh. Sea urchin may not be my jam, but the rest was insanely good.“
“A unique and truly special meal. First, the food is so unique, inspired, and delicious. Second, we were offered a non-alcoholic beverage pairing that was thoughtfully paired with each dish—as someone seeking to decrease my alcohol consumption, I wish every restaurant put a tenth of the thought into their nonalcoholic options as Kato does. Finally, the service is so warm and welcoming. I will be thinking about this meal for a long time.“
“I pass by Yama a lot on my way to and from the Santa Monica Airport. I typically drop by the Chipotle next door to pick up something quick but decided to check out Yama. And am I glad I did! The 5 pc nigiri Bento Box was exactly what I was looking for in a medium/light lunch. I was especially impressed with the karaage. Even after my 10 minute drive home, it remained crispy and reasonably warm. The sauce it’s soaked in is incredibly tasty and satisfying. The cold noodles were a nice simple side and the nigiri was solid. Expect to wait about 10 minutes for them to make the box freshly for you. I will definitely be coming back here and telling my friends about it.“
“Lunch for 2: Got Delux Moriawase, Sunset Roll, and Soba Salad. Soba Salad was a bit small for the price but tasted amazing. Miso soup and salad (comes with Moriawase) were excellent. Sushi was great and Spicy Toro Hand Roll was good as well. Only thing we did not like was the Sunset Roll. Wasabi fraiche and smoke roe did not compliment the flavor of overpriced and ultimately just regular salmon roll with just two gimmicky ingredients. However, everything else was amazing. Tables are very close to each other and it was very loud (mainly due to the four business men next to us were really loud). Still one of the better sushi places in an area already crowded with great sushi restaurants. Certainly will revisit.“
“Best Japanese BBQ in LA! Hands down. If you don't eat beef, you can ask Chef Masa if he can do a seafood based menu. There are other off the menu items that are amazing. For example, the lamb chops and also crab porridge are must orders. The service is great but the ambiance is very old and dark. You will need to know someone to introduce you to get a reservation.“
“I’ve been wanting to try this place for ages and it did not disappoint!A beautifully served lunch with healthy options, loads of flavors, vegetarian options, just fantastic.I will go back in a heartbeat, but I must say it gets full so do make a reservation. They make a 20% service charge for parties of 7 or more I believe.“
“Delicious evening. Many extra courses in the tasting menu, lots of extra black truffles on many dishes. Both of the servers were super knowledgeable and friendly. The table next to us was a loud couple with a dude on his phone a lot and that was the single negative part of our evening. An amazing birthday experience. Thanks, guys!“
“I've been coming here for almost 7 years. The owner is so sweet and he gives little brownies when he has them. The food is great and priced well. I've tried everything on the menu so you can't miss. CASH ONLY. You won't be “
“Since this place is doing only take out at the moment, truly excellent take-out experience. I have never seen omakase that doing take out as phenomenal. Everything was incredibly thoughtful and of the best quality I ever had. Especially, this place will serve you takeout as dining plates.“
“One of the best meals I’ve ever had. This is an exclusive restaurant that has seating for only seven people. The intimate environment makes for a beautifully relaxed setting. Chef Brandon is a master of his craft and every bite is perfect. He also makes it a point to make everyone feel at home and it is very personal. I was blown away by the experience and I will be back.“
“First time visiting and we had the omakase. The staff welcomed us like they have known us for years as soon as we walked in. The service throughout the omakase was amazing and the sushi was the best weve had since visiting Japan! Toshisan is passionate and friendly. Cant wait to go back asap! I wish I could keep Toshi Sushi to myself and not tell anyone about it, but they deserve to be successful so I chose to write this review. We are incredibly lucky to have sushi of this quality, at s reasonable price, and in Gardena no less. If you're reading this, dont think about it any longer and just go.“
“I love eating at Auntie's and I can't stop raving about their breakfast burritos! Without a doubt, Auntie's serves up the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. My go-to order is the bacon and Portuguese sausage combo, minus the tater tots, and it never disappoints. Also I love the traditional Hawaiian music that plays as I'm enjoying my food. It always creates a calm and comfortable environment.I've explored breakfast burrito options all over the South Bay and Los Angeles, and nothing even comes close to Auntie's. The flavor profile is absolutely outstanding. The bacon is thick and delightfully crunchy, elevating every bite to a whole new level of deliciousness. What makes Auntie's even more remarkable is their support for law enforcement. They go the extra mile by hosting "coffee with a cop" events periodically, fostering better communication between the public and the Gardena police department. It's heartwarming to see the mayor of Gardena, Chief, and Captain attend these events, demonstrating Auntie's commitment to the community.Auntie's isn't just a restaurant; it's a place where you can savor incredible breakfast burritos and feel good about supporting a business that actively engages with its local law enforcement and community. If you're in the area, Auntie's is a must-visit spot for a truly unforgettable breakfast experience.“
“Every dish was melt in your mouth good. Some of the best sushi I’ve had at this price point. Will definitely come back, highly recommend. The shop is a smaller spot and a bit unassuming, but the food speaks for itself. The staff were also extremely friendly, allowing us to move some tables around to meet our groups needs when they weren’t too busy. Really appreciate the visit here.“
“One of the best meals in Los Angeles. All of the food was delicious, interesting, and wonderful to look at. I want the entire collection of tableware. Also, the service was special. The staff was so nice and made us smile the entire time. The dining room is forgettable, but hard to complain when everything else was so good.“
“This is a fairly new location for this restaurant. They have another established location in Santa Monica. This location is in Marina Del Rey right off Washington and Lincoln. Their food and service is excellent. This place is a hidden jewel.“
“I recently took my lunch break at Guzzu Bento-ya, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. I opted for their Hayashi Rice, a flavorful twist on Japanese beef stew, and it instantly became my new favorite comfort food, especially in the chilly weather. The braised tender beef, onions, and mushrooms melded together perfectly, creating a hearty and satisfying meal. The space was cozy and perfect to do some work. I love how they have anime playing on the projector.Beyond their renowned bento boxes, Guzzu Bento-ya impressed me with their new salads and stews, each bursting with flavor. The staff was incredibly accommodating, offering spot-on recommendations that enhanced my dining experience. Whether you're craving a classic bento box or eager to explore their latest offerings, Guzzu Bento-ya is sure to exceed your expectations. Highly recommended!5/5“
“Absolutely delightful service & chicken! Make sure to check the counter for info on their combos and bentos since those are good deals for lunch. The portions are great, so an 8 piece is enough for 2 lunches, especially if you’re pairing it with rice or a salad. Will definitely be back.“
“This was my first experience with mazemen and it did not disappoint. It was a recommendation from my buddy who lives locally and I will absolutely return. The vinegar adds a delicious change in flavor profile and compliments the egg yolk and the fatty flavor and umami taste and mouth feel. This was one of my favorite things I’ve eaten in the last year to be honest. Fantastic food. Great little atmosphere and great service. Totally decent pricing too.“
“Where do I even start. I rarely go on Yelp and give reviews, but after going to this place multiple times, I must share the hard work this restaurant puts out. This is truly a gem in Playa Del Rey. Everything about this place is just amazing. It's a small and intimate spot close to the water and has the softest sushi out there. Every bite the fish melts in your mouth and just shows you how good simple and good ingredients can get. I've tried multiple places looking for good sushi but nothing compares. I will say, it is a bit pricey but 100% worth it. The service may be a little slow at times but you gotta give the staff a break when they are working so hard. They are all so polite and make sure you're table is always clean.“
“Excellent quality sushi. I usually do the to-go so that it comes with the cute sushi boxes and it's always a fun experience. The sushi is great quality and fresh. The rice is always the perfect temperature and texture. I did not find any free parking when I came here so I recommend coming with someone to get dropped off to run in and pick up the food!“
“Quality, presentation and hospitality are beyond excellent and over the top! Super delicious, super friendly. You're gonna get the full treatment here like you would in Japan. The atmosphere here felt like an upscale but really casual place that's good for every occasion and large groups. We can’t wait to come back and try their tomahawk steak!“
“This place is AMAZING!!! It is literally the best udon I've had in Los Angeles!! I poped in after a day at The Brood museum which it is really close to. Street Parking can be a little bit tricky but you can just pay and go into one of the lots close by. I personally love the sour plum udon its super sour and delicious but if that's not your thing they literally have a ton of different options. You can get a double portion on any of their udon for a small up charge (I think only $2 more) and it is totally worth it! Their tuna is a delicious appetizer as well. One big thing to be aware of, there is often a wait list you have to sign up on to get in. Be sure you give yourself ample time.“
“Cute vibes inside with cool interior! Ramen is light and the noodles are thin so they're a bit different than your typical ramen joint. Soup bases are very light and tangy (idk if that's the right word) and the toppings were fresh. The egg was the perfect consistency! The calamari appetizer was really good! Portions are on the smaller side but very curated I feel. Service is quick and easy as well. They were attentive and quick! I wanted to substitute a few things in my ramen and the server was able to readily ask the kitchen if it was possible so I like that they took the extra step to ask! I'm not sure if they have their own parking lot but I found street parking 2 small streets away!“
“Ordered for takeout via the website during my lunch break-- the portions are huge for the price and great quality! Pickup was fast and efficient. The steps are a cute area to get some sun amidst the workday. Check it out if you work in the area and are looking for something different than the usual!!!“
“This is a pricier traditional Japanese sushi establishment. I had the Chirashi bowl which was absolutely delicious. You will need to remove your shoes when entering and the seating is low to the floor, as it is in traditional Japan. Underneath the table is a space for you to stretch your legs. The fish was very fresh. The staff is very accommodating. Dishes range from 50 - 100 dollars. The mochi Ice-cream was fire, if you decide to get dessert.“
“Amazing experience! I came here for my birthday dinner and the Tokyo omakase was to die for. One of the best meals I had in my life. The staff is very attentive and has great recommendations for which sake to order, you can tell that they really care about the dining experience. Each course was fresh and delicious and really highlighted the best flavors. I have never enjoyed uni before, but here it was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to be back next time I have something to celebrate.“
“Easily one of the best meals I've ever had. A friend chose Ootoro for dinner so I didn't really know what I was in for and I'm not going to lie, when we first saw the menu I was a little shocked. Definitely pricier than I usually dine but when in LA right? It's still a limited menu at my budget but I ordered the chirashi bowl for $28.95 and 100% I would order it a million more times and honestly it's a steal at that price. It's positively loaded with some of the freshest fish I've ever had and it was by far the best meal of our trip. The restaurant itself is very nice with modern decor and low lighting to build the ambiance. The servers were very attentive and service was prompt - I don't think my water glass ever emptied. I'd give it more stars if I could!“
“We have come here a few times and each visit has been great. The food is always fresh and delicious. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Definitely try the soba! They make it in house and it’s so good! My absolute favorite is the Asari appetizer. The flavor was amazing!!!!“
“I've been wanting to come here for quite some time, so I decided to come with my girl friends for my birthday dinner. Upon arrival, they offer valet parking - otherwise, you're going to have to snag street parking nearby. The entrance as so beautiful and captivating. It felt so serene. Minimalistic, but with modern aesthetics. We were able to sit in the outside patio area. This area seats best for 4-5 people. They also have a private dining area for bigger groups available too. I took a look at the seating inside, which were mainly bar seating and table seatings for 2 options. The table seating for 2 did not look too comfortable, so I'm glad I came with a group instead of a plus one. We ordered the Blue Fin Tuna Crudo, Ponzu Oysters, Sesame Yellowtail Kingfish, Uni-Mentaiko Cream Squid Ink Pasta, and Miso Black Cod. For drinks, we ordered Carajillos, Lychee Martini, and Yuzu Margarita. We were pleased with all of our orders to share amongst the 4 of us. It was the perfect portion to share to try different things. We did order a second order of the yellowtail, since we did enjoy that more than the blue fin. Loved all the flavor from the uni pasta and the cod, but didn't really care for the green pea puree under the fish. All the drinks were great - we ordered 2 each. Jesse was our server that night. He was a delight. It was a slammed night for the bartenders and servers, but he made our evening very pleasant. He did mention that the building will also serve as a small hotel soon, which I thought was very interesting. Definitely recommend trying this spot out!“
“Went when it first opened and there was already a line outside. The wait is worth it! The sashimi plate is delicious and fresh and AFFORDABLE. My favorite dish was the unagi plate. I'm going to come back just for that. If you like eel, get the unagi plate, you won't be disappointed.“
“There is a master chef and a master mind behind the scenes in this small, unpretentious, well appointed Izakaya. If the layout seems a little odd the food and presentation more than makes up for it.The offerings are all unusual and tempting and if I were a full time resident in L.A. this would be my go to place for any worthy excuse.I loved every bite that I ordered and my only regret was finding the urchin risotto in the menu when I was already too full and satisfied. It will have to wait for the next time I am in L.A.But if you are a full time resident you have no excuse not to eat in this mini paradise.“
“Been eating here for the last 8 years whenever I am on the west side. So fresh, fluffy warm rice. rolls made to order. so affordable , I will always come here. Owners are so kind and friendly and obviously hard working. This is my favorite type of sushi place. 10/10 thank you <3“
“I recently dined at this sushi restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The freshness of the fish was outstanding, and each roll showcased a perfect balance of flavors. The presentation was artful, and the attentive staff added to the overall enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend trying their signature rolls – a delightful fusion of traditional and creative elements. A top-notch spot for sushi enthusiasts!“
“This firm provided us with the best service while installing our new garage door. They were professional and thorough in their job. They were cooperative and informed, and they provided us with a complete description of the work that they were going to undertake. The job was well-organized and efficient, and the men were courteous. Thank you for your wonderful service.“
“I love the atmosphere here. It was like sitting in a cozy sushi bar in Tokyo. However the sushi taste is not my favorite. Scallop was too cold to be served. Sea urchin tasted creamy but the seaweed overwhelmed the flavor. Sweet shrimp was ok. If you like ankimo you have to ask, it is not in the menu but they have it.“
“For the price it’s a 10/10 meal!!Service: 10/10Note: make sure to put ur name on wait listWhat I ordered:Scallop sashimi - 10/10, fresh, vibrant flavours.Nigiri sampler- 9/10 very fresh and good quality fish. A little too much rice for me.Burnt garlic ramen- 8/10 I’m more traditional in my flavours. But it’s peoples favourite.Tuna crispy rice 10/10. Can’t complain“
“SOOOOO soo good!! Always look forward to stopping by whoever the truck is at. Highly recommend the Classic burger and also the Chicken katsu sandwich. Thé gorgonzola on thé burger is DELICIOUS. The veggies are crisp and fresh. And the sauces are homemade, so so delicious. A MUST try“
“I have been a regular visitor here since its opening and can confidently say it offers some of the best sushi in the United States. The chef, Gen, not only impresses with his sushi-making skills but also with the ambiance he creates and his focus on healthy ingredients, among other commendable aspects. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, which means there’s a loyal clientele and a wonderful overall atmosphere. Reservations are essential. Make sure to book in advance and come hungry. That’s part of the etiquette of enjoying top-notch dining.“
“A small family run izakaya tucked into the far end corner of a strip of restaurants. Easy to overlook if one drives by too quickly. Run by an older couple, it has a very cosy atmosphere with authentic izakaya style tapas. The seabream and kohada was very fresh the day we went, the tuna was prepped well. The sashimi was properly cut and everything was exquisitely prepared by the owner chef.“
“Went here as a second option as my original spot didn't take reservations over 4 people. The food is fine here, but I was disappointed with the portion sizes of the sushi and other items. Perhaps it's because we got the omakase, but maybe it's because everyone is trying to save on costs, but keep the prices the same or higher.“
“Went back to back days because of the food was so good. The service was impeccable as well as the drinks. The lovely hostess was able to seat me despite it being super packed and I did not have a reservation. Definitely a revisit when in LA!“
“Some of the best tempura in LA. I really like their tempura bowl, especially the tempura egg that you break apart and the yolk spreads over the rice. I typically pair it with the soba noodles. I love this small business started by a Peruvian man Carlos who had a passion for tempura. Highly recommend.“
“Traditional Japanese soba/udon noodle restaurant located in old Torrance. Place draws always a crowd, walk up and place your order, pay and wait for your number to be called. Homemade noodles with great combo sets that are filling and authentic. 5 stars, would highly recommend?Parking: Street parking available on both directions outside restaurant“
“It was the first time I came in but I really liked the place, the food was good and they were very friendly and it is very quietParking: Well, it is a square with many food businesses and there are always many people, especially after 6:00 p.m. the parking lot and the street begin to fill up as well.Kid-friendliness: YeahWheelchair accessibility: Yeah“
“Favorite Japanese restaurant. The beef teriyaki is basically a steak, perfectly seared with a good amount of fat. Tempura was crunchy and massive. The whole combination plate was actually huge. The chicken skewers were also very good. This place is on the pricier end, but the portion sizes and quality make it worth it. I will be coming back.“
“Ordered the Oyako Kinpira Gobo. The Kinpira Gobo (Braised burdock root) was very pleasant, a bit sweet and salty filling in this very light and delightful pastry. It's a very good size and makes for a nice snack option midday. This is a small cafe located in the Miyako Hotel with adjoining and separate entrance in the heart of Little Tokyo. This cafe does not occupy a lot of space so seating is limited, good for light conversations or very short term work space. Parking is always a challenge here so be mindful.“
“Tucked away in Koreatown is this intimate dining experience. We went to hibi for date night a few weeks ago and it was great! We ordered a wide array of food to try as much as the menu. The chef mentioned that a tasting menu is coming soon so we will be back for another visit! All of the food was super delicious and the presentation was neat. My favorite dish was the steak! The staff were attentive and very kind. Highly recommend checking it out!“
“Parking is free and plentiful here. Nice location because it’s next to other shops and close to Costco. This is a good place for a quick bite to eat, I love the spicy tuna hand rolls and the shrimp tempura. I usually do take-out but I had time to dine in today and the place was clean and comfortable. Nice that they have Jarritos available as a drink option!“
