“The ambience is great! Very nice and homey spot. The staff was very kind too. We ordered a bit of everything.Pros:Prices are very good for all the dishes. Nothing was over 15 dollars on the menu. The shrimp wontons and pan fried pork buns were the best items with the most flavor. The beef roll was huge in size. Great for people that enjoy cucumber and thicker slices of the meat. The bean curd salad had a nice bite and flavor to it. They also have sparkling water on tap!Cons:Parking is bad. Getting street parking is like winning the lottery. The other option is to pay for parking which can range between 10-30 dollars. The dan dan noodles and sha gua mian did not meet our expectations. The noodles seemed a bit overcooked and a sauce/acid could have given the dish more of a balance in flavor. Our table marker was taken off the table a little early and that's when we saw on the receipt that a missing item was added incorrectly. Our server fixed it promptly so that was great.“
“The Real Deal. From the hot and sour soup to the orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, garlic green beans, eggplant, lo mein, it’s got it all-we’ve been twice after a Kings game and have not been disappointed- we over order just to get the variety of flavors in our mouths. The food is fantastic, the staff is genuine and gets the importance of hospitality.“
“I come to LA from the east coast once or twice per year and I make my travel schedule around eating at Moto once per visit. The tan tan men ramen is absolutely the best ramen I have ever had. The broth is pure perfection... The side dishes are solid as well and the sushi is simple, but out of this world fresh and tasty. Sam is a great host. See you on my next trip Moto!!!“
“I came here a long time ago when the restaurant was still pretty new. this place offers curry dishes - ramen, rice, etc. we got the curry ramen and Keema noodle. both were decent, however I'm not a big curry fan, so the dishes were a little too heavy and rich for me. It's pretty comparable to other ramen restaurants in sawtelle but this place specializes in curry so if you're a fan of that I would recommend!“
“I actually really like these noodles. Different than ramen. Noodles and broth served separate. Dip the noodles. Dip dip dip. I like that. The pork is tender and the soy egg is delicious. The serving is pretty good. It’s expensive for what you get but it’s good. You’ll like it. Trust me.“
“I decided to try this place out since a friend recommended it while I was in Little Tokyo. I honestly didn’t have any expectations for an udon place because I’ve had udon at the Marugame Udon chain and expected something similar. Let me tell you that this place elevates their udon to the next level. The mentai udon was easily one of my favorite meals during my trip to LA. The sauce was creamy, savory, and sweet with the perfect balance. The umami from the mentai and shrimp complements the sauce so well. It wasn’t too rich and was just right. I slurped up all of the sauce it was that good. Highly recommend and would come back. Service was also very attentive and kind.“
“Feels like a modern trendy hip pho spot that totally passes the vibe check. We were greeted as we came in even during the busy dinner time.Sat at one of the booths with space to have a stroller next to us without being in the way for others. The staff are super friendly with awesome ink tats and just super chill.I ordered the #4 pho with streak and brisket which was yummy, next time I will for sure get a large. We got 2 orders of the #30 the minced pork and veggies egg rolls which were delicious and gone as quickly as they came.Huge dinning area with a modern rustic open kitchen décor.Needed to stay up so I got me a Vietnamese coffee which was on point. Can’t wait to come back to try other things off the menu.Parking: Big parking lotKid-friendliness: Able to fit a stroller next to our table“
“After seeing some vids about how great the mul naeng myun is here, I had to come try with my family. My sister and I got the mul naeng myun and my grandma got the sagol dduk mandu guk (ox bone soup with rice cake and dumplings). The broth of the naeng myun was clear and crisp, but a little bland, I had to put in a lot of the mustard paste and vinegar to increase the flavor. Overall, I liked the thinness and texture of the noodles, but the flavor of the soup was nothing too out of the ordinary. The banchan though... deserves a standing ovation. The side dishes were fresh, well seasoned, and Korean grandma approved. I think I preferred my grandma's rice cake soup to my naeng myun, but I would be willing to come back and try their other dishes. We got a pajeon (chive pancake) on the side as well, which was crispy and came with a lovely soy sauce on the side. The waitresses were also very attentive and kind. The restaurant was nearly empty when we walked in for a late lunch on a weekday. Overall a great experience :)“
“This was the last place my husband and I visited while in LA. Because of the location I was scared the food was going to be trash or that the restaurant would be so nasty that I wouldn’t want to eat there. However, this place was a pleasant surprise! Yes, it was a little rundown and outside there was a lot of garbage and old furniture but inside was clean although it was older, it was still very clean. The food was absolutely delicious! This is one of those those places that I wish that we had in my hotel. It’s a little mom and pop hole in the wall spot but their food packs of mighty punch and the service does too! The staff was very sweet and accommodating. If you’re in LA or nearby, I would definitely recommend for a good pho“
“Excellent Ramen, Kyushu Style Noodles (thin and not overcooked) The Soup was unexpectedly delicious, inspired to the Tonkotsu Pork Broth. I lived in Japan two years and this the first time I find something so authentic, comparable to the Original Japanese Ramen. Overal Super Recommended!!!“
“we had a great experience here at lunchtime yesterday. good options for veggies, really tasty ramen. the service especially was fantastic - as soon as we came in with my baby daughter, the waitress brought a high chair and even an age-appropriate sippy cup full of water which i was so impressed by. amazing friendly team!“
“Pretty chill noodle place, food came out pretty quick and was good with a really solid portion size. However, we came in with a group of 6, and it may be their rules, but I found it frustrating that there weren't that many people in the restaurant but we couldn't put 2 tables together to make a larger table for our group, eventually after asking a few times we were able to move to a larger table where all 6 of us could sit together. Pretty cheap parking here as well, overall would go back but maybe in a smaller group.“
“Overall experience it was good! The wait wasn’t too long. I think we came around the lunch time rush hour on a weekday with 40min wait?Dipping sauce was good and creamy. I was so full afterwards! Worth trying it again. The pricing was on a higher side.I also got the iced matcha. I really didn’t like it. It tasted like powered matcha poured with ice cold water. Highly don’t recommend getting the drink. Wasted my money.Paid street parking only. Paid $2 street parking for max 2 hour parking.“
“The portions are generous and the hearts are plentiful! This restaurant has everything! The owner was really friendly, so I felt good the whole time I was eating it. The chicken kalguksu soup was rich and not too salty, which I liked. My friend had seafood kalguksu, and there was a lot of seafood, and the soup was clear and rich!! The red bean kalguksu is really delicious, so I definitely recommend it.“
“We ordered Potato Gnocchi and received this. I’m no Italian but I could tell Gnocchi and Penne apart. And from the picture, evidently it was dry, it definitely needed more sauce. I know it was a Saturday but you could’ve at least got the order right. 3 stars because it tasted decent. The Mushrooms and Veggies were additional $5 bucks.Update: Owner contacted back, you don’t see that very often, very politely apologized for the mistake and offered to make up for it. We appreciate this hospitality. 5 stars for the service. Not a lot of businesses offer it. Thanks Fabio!“
“Holy Basil is instant comfort that teleports you home. The dishes are flawlessly executed and the flavors are consistently on point. The vibe of this hidden gem reminds you of your family’s kitchen and I feel like a kid again full of excitement from the escaping aromas. I lean heavy into firing the menu family style and always look forward to memorable meals shared. Their take out withstands LA traffic to the far away land of Santa Monica. Service is hands down the friendliest in town.“
“I really love ramen, Can't get tired of eating anytime I find a good spot, and this is one of those places, whenever I'm nearby. Personally I highly recommend the slurping ramen combo, and chashu bowl. Price is very reasonable.food is delivered pretty fast, workers are very friendlyParking: Is a big lot with many business as well, but Parking shouldn't be an issue to enjoy a great ramen“
“This is probably the most popular place to get your lunch at from students and faculty at El Camino College. Every meeting I'm at around lunch time I see someone eating from Mr. H. I really love their spamasubi and their miso soup. It reminds me of my high school days when people would sell spamasubi from their backpacks. The place has a few tables and chairs to sit on if you are looking to dine in or wait for your food. Cool thing about their service too is they have a buzzer for when your food is ready. Sometimes it takes a little long to get the food to come out but it's always hot and ready to eat when they do.“
“We sat at the communal table and enjoyed looking at the aesthetically pleasing feasts our neighbors ordered! We shared a bento box with fresh sashimi, crispy tempura, and warm side meats served with colorful condiments. Once we placed our name on the waitlist, we enjoyed a stroll until our number was called. The portions are generous, and the atmosphere is friendly, both from guests and servers. Next time, we will order the soups and noodle combinations.“
“I walked by this place a million times and it's always busy but for some reason I never expected much. Boy, was I wrong! The pasta here was perfectly made. The staff were friendly and efficient. The timing of the courses was spot on. I didn't even mind the wait when we arrived, we went for a walk around the marina and enjoyed the view and they texted when the table was ready. Best of all: did I mention the pasta? It was absolutely delicious!“
“Been wanted try but always ended at regular Mountain cafe. Wanted try soybean broth cold noodle since saw the menu banner because never seen it elsewhere in LA.It was good and portions of the foods were so generous. Kimch was really tasty. Definitely will be back for another dishes.“
“The woman who attended me was amazing!! I really loved the strawberry milk and the pork belly was very delicious. I was just a little disappointed in the egg since it was warm on the outside but really cold in the inside which made me lose my appetite. The noodles also tasted too much like eggs in which I don’t really enjoy. The soup was really good though and again the pork belly tastes amazing!!“
“Last time I had Pho for the first time was at a different location and it wasn't good at all. So I was skeptical to try it again at this spot but MAN WAS THIS PHO GOOD. I had the shrimp pho and it was so flavorful and soo good. We also had some crispy dumplings which were also pretty good ! Service was great, very nice people attending us and making sure our dinner time was going well. And the place was just so calm and relaxing. We got there an hour before closing time so there wasn't as many people, which made the experience so much better. After this redeeming experience, I will definitely be coming back ! I 10/10 recommend this place :)“
“Amazing delicious food and the best customer service!! The food has so much flavor and you can tell it's made fresh when you order it. I've gotten noodles and sandwiches here and everything is always so good. The drinks are delicious as well. The owner is hands down the best owner ever, such a genuine and kind soul. We will absolutely be back again and again!“
“Parking is really easy even on weekends. The restaurant is spacious and the staff is friendly. The menu has lots of different food options. This place is great to hang out with friends and family to catch up or meet up. Our party had a baby, they have high chairs and staff were very accommodating, we did not feel like a nuisance while dining here. When the baby was rowdy and there was a lobby area just a short walk away to calm the baby down with various Japanese decor.“
“Got lucky today after arriving at LAX. On our way home we found this spot! Yelp gave 4.5 stars. Absolutely delighted with my experience at this pho restaurant! The food was incredibly delicious, showcasing authentic flavors that left my taste buds in awe. The ambiance was enhanced by the charming touch of traditional music, creating a delightful atmosphere. What truly stood out was the exceptional service - always delivered with a genuine smile. A 5-star gem that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking an outstanding dining experience!“
“DAMN! The best killer noodles! The noodles can go as hot as you want, from a scale of 1 through 6. My limit is 3 but I'm more comfortable with a level 2. Even at 2, I'm sweating. Every now and then, when I'm in a mood to torture myself with amazing spices, I go here. Try it, you will understand!“
“This place has the best pho in the area handsThe customer service is dopeThe owner is always very welcoming and his recommendations always hit the spotThere’s endless veggies for your phoI love this place always but best for rainy daysI definitely recommend this spotParking: There’s street parking and public parking lots in the behind areas of pacific , how everI’ve always found street parking right up front of the spot or within a couple of feetKid-friendliness: Yes it’s kid friendlyThe owner is very friendly and accommodating“
“Marugame Udon has always been the go-to for anyone near Sawtelle especially UCLA students. I mean this place is fantastic: the food is exceptional, basically no wait time, the food is cheap, and the service is amazing. This is definitely a top 5 of all time for me and would HIGHLY recommend anyone to visit when in the area. The line usually gets very long on Saturday and Friday nights but it moves fairly quickly.“
“Asian option if you like a good bowl of curry rice with crispy chicken and onion like I had! ? You have more options, but it is an economical and good option in downtown Los Angeles! ?️Vegetarian options: Vegetarian optionsKid-friendliness: No problemWheelchair accessibility: Accessible“
“I love the ramen at Jidaya, especially their tonkotsu - it’s thick, rich and tasty. They’re very consistent, too. But to be honest, I thought about giving it 2 star so it doesn’t get too busy but post pandemic, everyone restaurant could use the business.“
“Loved everything we got, the soba was the perfect texture and dipping sauce for cold tokyo was very flavorful and tempura was perfectly fried! lime soba was really interesting, at first it was flavorful and refreshing with just the right amount of sourness but after a while it became a little too much. definitely worth a try tho and probably better to share with others! the tan tan tofu was really good mainly because the delicious meat sauce on it they have a cute interior and the server was very nice, he noticed I was picking off the green onions and I told him I didn't like it, and he personally had the chef take off the green onions on my entree without me asking which was very considerate I always come to sawtelle and am very happy I got to finally try this spot, will definitely come again!“
“When it comes to cold noodles in K-Town, this is the place to go The combination of ribs and cold noodles is crazy!! However.. I am somewhat cautious but concerned about the sanitary conditions..? I think it is because there are too many customers in the summer..?“
“MIAN is a wonderful place for some really good food. There are great selections and the menu will satisfy all dietary requirements. The Crispy Half Chicken is great and the Spicy Beef Noodle is a can’t miss dish. This is a place that you will want to go back to again and again to taste everything on the menu.“
“Never had ramen broth that wasn't made from pork. The taste was amazing, light, refreshing and less oilier than tonkotsu. The noodles were boiled to perfection, chewy and delicious. The TanTan Men were tasty as well, the peanut broth wasn't too overpowering. I will definitely go back again in the near future.“
“ServiceI was so impressed by the staff. Over multiple visits, consistently the team is so knowledgeable about their menu (ingredients, preparation, avoiding cross-contact) and is so attentive and kind. I want to particularly acknowledge Paul (manager), Matt, and Landry for excellence in service. I was struck by how well prepared the team is.FacilityThe restaurant itself is very sleek and beautiful. There was a long wait for a table, but it was well worth it. The restaurant has a nice system of texting you when the table is ready so that you can explore the mall while you wait. There were many private booths, and also large tables. I also saw a private room in the corner.FoodOf course they have their famous dishes but I also want to highlight some of their other dishes that we particularly enjoyed:- Tofu noodle salad (fresh and tasty appetizer)- Taiwanese cabbage (light and flavorful)- Boba milk tea (not too sweet at all, more black tea forward)“
“For the ultimate Korean-Chinese dining experience in South Bay, look no further. Dive into authentic Jja Jang Myeon and Jjam Ppong at this must-visit establishment. Whether you're new to Korean cuisine or a seasoned foodie, it's the perfect starting point. Don't miss out on trying the Gan Jja Jang--it's a rare find with its smoky wok flavor, generous portions of diced onions and squash, and a less oily consistency compared to traditional Jja Jang Myeon. Highly recommended!“
“This is an old Japanese soba restaurant. I had a good time visiting. Both for entertaining and personally. The staff at the store are Japanese, but of course their English is no problem. I used it yesterday for the first time in a while, and 80% of the customers were non-Japanese. Soba is becoming more and more recognized. I love the soba noodles, but I also love the ginger-yaki set meal. I love the spaghetti salad that comes with it. It's not on the menu, but it comes out when you order.“
“This is a great place to get soup dumplings. I would highly recommend making reservations well in advance if you want to eat here for a special occasion. I had to reserve my table a month in advance. If you are going to get an appetizer I would recommend the cucumber salad and the string beans with garlic.I would also recommend sticking to the soup dumplings; although their other items are also delicious. The noodles in spicy sauce are great. The pot stickers are also a great choice if you like a crunch with your savory dish. The fried rice was the only thing I thought was just ok. If you are not a big fan of fried rice I would recommend skipping this and getting more soup dumplings. Remember to make room for dessert. The black sesame seed dessert is delicious.“
“One of the best ramen places in town. Excellent choices along with ramen. We tried it for the first time as we were visiting little Tokyo. Although it is not in the village I will highly recommend to anyone visiting this area. Will be going back for some more next time I am visiting.“
“Impromptu noodle spot on a rainy day. Was happy we did. A bowl of noodles for 13, and lamb soup with bun on the side for 17. Total with tax was about 34. Felt super nice and toasty eating at this spot on a rainy day. Lamb soup hit the spot, pretty generous amount of meat and soup had right amount of flavor with black pepper. Large portion of noodles. Love the home made table chili oil. The guy was super nice. He didn't accept tips, and insisted not taking. He said to visit more often instead. I find that super refreshing. Will be back!Side note there was a lady there who took our order, I saw others comment she isn't very enthusiastic, while we experienced similar I'd say the guy server made it up. We cut that part a slack.“
“Pork xiao long bao: 4/5 Beef noodle soup: 4/5 Three cup chicken: 5/5 I was pleasantly surprised by dan modern chinese. We tried the classic pork xiao long bao, which were absolutely delicious - thin dumpling skin and loads of soup inside. The beef noodle soup was great as well. It's not the rich beef broth that I was expecting - it's more of a light, refreshing broth, but still very good! And finally the three cup chicken was super flavorful and delicious. Great service and a very nice ambiance.“
“Was recommended to come to this place. This is my first time here, I wanted to order everything. It all looks so good. Amazing customer service ,very fresh food. Everything served super hot. Best kimchi i've ever had. I will drive all the way back to this place. Can't wait to. To come back again and try something different“
“The best bowl of beef pho you can find in Compton! the broth Is cooked perfectly.. also love the chili oil & wontons. it's a family owned business I usually order takeout and the temperature is always consistent And food always up to par.“
“I had lunch at this restaurant with my friend when we were visiting LA, and I'm so glad we stumbled across it! The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff was so friendly. One of the best Thai restaurants I've been to, and definitely somewhere I'll be visiting again the next time I'm in town!“
“Highly recommend the Chiu Chow Fish Ball Noodles here. The fish balls here are fresh and bouncy with the right amount of peppery. There’s seating outside of the restaurant in the plaza area, making for a nice people-watching lunch. Also, you can’t beat the price at ~$11 per bowl of noodles! Even with the saturated availability of Chinese/Teochow food in the SGV, I would still make the trek out to Chinatown for Kim Chuy’s fish ball noodles!“
“Good food, refreshing, light, and felt healthy to consume. I just don’t understand the point of assigning a table number and still having the customer serve and buss their own food. Just have a takeout counter and call out numbers? Heard the waitresses be snarky with first-timers who didn’t know better. This is a more intuitive dining experience than hearing a snarky “you can pick it up yourself here” after every confused customer.“
“Amazing amazing place. The cashier and chefs are the kindest people ever. The food tastes authentic and truly amazing. It was raining and they were so kind to let us shelter and enjoy our food inside temporarily. They treated us so well and we couldn't be more grateful“
“Got take out from Palmsugar, just two dishes since it was the first time trying it - got chicken pad thai and vegan spicy basil fried rice. Both dishes were amazing, the basil fried rice was honestly 10/10 - had spice, excellent flavor, well cooked. The Pad Thai was also very good.Definitely would recommend and will likely try more of their food.Vegetarian options: They seem to be able to make most options vegetarian/vegan - the basil fried rice has the option for tofu, no fish sauce, no egg and at the bottom, an additional option to make it vegan - perhaps to ensure it would be. Flavor was still phenomenal, thoroughly enjoyed it.“
“Cash only. Busy lunch location for the area. Standard menu items that cover rice to noodles, a big menu for a small mom and pop shop. Small parking lot can get hard to get out of during rush hour. Maybe easier to park on the street instead.“
