“Such a cute spot next to UCI! The interior decor is gorgeous — such a vibe! They have beer, sake, and COFFEES! Everything on the menu looks soo good. Many of the rolls use the same ingredients so that’s an area for potential improvement, but didn’t take away from the experience.

Service was great, our server was very kind and attentive. I didn’t love that water for the table was already sitting on each table when we arrived, it looked like it had been there all day. The ginger and wasabi was a similar situation, it didn’t look fresh, but when we requested more the server immediately replaced it!

It was so quiet and chill in this area, and they have outdoor seating as well where families were hanging out. Very mellow and cute.

“It’s a hidden gem in Irvine where I like to go for breakfast or lunch whenever I am visiting Irvine. There’s limited parking but I have never had trouble finding. The outdoor seating area is so nice and relaxing. I prefer that over their indoor dining space.“

“I recently visited Mubong-ri Soondae-guk and decided to try their cheese tonkatsu instead of the usual soondae-guk, and I was pleasantly surprised by how satisfying the meal was. The breading on the pork cutlet was perfectly crispy, and once I cut into it, the generous amount of cheese inside melted out beautifully, adding a great visual appeal. The meat itself was tender and not chewy at all, making it a dish that anyone would enjoy, and the harmony with the provided sauce was excellent. Since it is a restaurant specializing in soondae-guk, I didn't have high expectations, but I was truly shocked by the high quality, which rivaled that of specialized tonkatsu restaurants. The savory flavor of the cheese filling the mouth was a real treat. If you are looking for a hearty and delicious meal, I highly recommend trying the cheese tonkatsu at Mubong-ri. “I’m really glad we found this place, and it’s highly recommended if you are slightly adventurous and trying out some ethnic Chinese flavors.

Everything we ordered was excellent. We knew the crispy lamb buns (aka Chinese Burger) was going to be good, but not sure about the $20 fried pork which was #1 chef recommendations, it turned out to be delightful.

The lamb soup came out first, it was tasty and refreshing, Liang pi was cool, you don’t get it in many places. String beans were nicely done, a delicious necessity to balance out the meal.

The first bite of crispy lamb buns was a delightful surprise: crunchy layered thin bread and lamb with slightly cumin, it was an amazing feast.

Fried pork is an even more interesting surprise that I would not spoil. Ha ha. Try it to find out!

Service was fine, we were seats and water was provided quickly. Orders are done by scanning QR code, browsing the online menu, and order directly. I find this efficient but lacking some personal interactions.

We did purposely ordered a lot for the two of us, we obviously didn’t finish. I was surprised the bill wasn’t as much as I expected. We got a lot of leftovers to go and enjoyed rest at home.“

“Incredible flavors that are well balanced. Nothing was too sweet or salty. I'm amazed that I enjoyed every dish, and it surpassed my expectations despite reading mixed reviews. It's been a while since I had dishes at this caliber and quality. It's better than a good amount of restaurants in LA.

Everyone was extremely friendly and polite. Due to the holiday weekend and it being a Friday in a business area, it was fairly quiet. We decided to celebrate my birthday because the menu intrigued me. I liked the idea of modern cuisine influenced by SE Asian flavor and was curious to see how everything would be. We shared the scallop crudo, salmon crudo, sausage croquettes, Spanish octopus, wagyu hanger steak, broccoli & greens, and mixed mushrooms. Portion sizes are more generous than I thought too so we ended up taking ~1/3 of it home.

We shared the warm chocolate cake dessert which was rich with chocolate flavor, and they gave a pound cake berry & whipped cream dessert on the house for my birthday which was very kind. Seriously, kudos to Chef Jay Lacuesta and the team! I haven't found a nicer restaurant in OC that I want to go back to, and I've now found it! I'm so glad that I chose to celebrate my birthday there. Thank you!!
