We ordered one that way and another one with guacamole and cheese, no pico.The man who took our order was very customer service oriented and he was helpful when we asked questions. We waited about 6 minutes and our order was ready. I opted for green salsa and we took our food home.We ran into traffic, so it was longer than 15min drive. The great news was that the burritos were still hot and delicious when we ate them...in the car! We are definitely coming back to this place. This is definitely a new Mexican food spot on our list. We frequent this and the Mira Mesa location almost monthly at this point ever since we found out about it. it's a bad habit at this point, really lol Order food by the pound, about $14 per lb with a lb minimum. You can pick either dry pot or soup. My favorite soups are original with some spice and curry. I have yet to try the dry pot, but I will definitely try the next time I go. I love all the pickings at the bar and if youre into intestines in your soups, they have pig intestines, which is my favorite! This may be off-putting to some people, but if you're willing to try, its fatty, juicy, and pretty flavorful! highly recommend if you love hotpot and don't want to do al the cooking on your own!“
“What an amazing experience. I was in a hurry on my way to catch the train at Santa Fe Station and needed something for my 8 hour ride. I found this sweet little deli and thought I'd give it a try. What a wonderful find. The gentleman behind the counter was so kind and helpful with my request to have a vegetarian option. He gave me great advice and suggested #17 on rye and mustard and it was perfect! Best part was that he chatted me up and laughed with me. Made me feel welcome and special. “I celebrated my birthday with 20 friends on the patio of El Borrego today and it was such a wonderful experience! I'm so grateful to Rodnia, the owner, and her staff, for being so attentive and handling it all so well. They sectioned off half of the outdoor patio and set it up with beautiful decor, as well as umbrellas for shade and a big fan as it was 80 degrees out. At the bar, guests could choose from house made Horchata, Agua de Jamaica, beer and Sangria. I heard so many compliments about the venue and especially on the food! We served a self-serve buffet of Cochinita Pibil and Lamb Barbacoa with tortillas, guacamole and garnishes, plus quesadillas made with squash blossoms and rajas that they brought out hot as they were ready. The whole afternoon felt easy and relaxed and I got to enjoy spending time with friends rather than being stressed about hosting. The mellow music they played set a nice atmosphere for a Sunday afternoon. This restaurant is such a neighborhood gem! If you're looking for a space to accommodate a crowd and excellent food and service, I highly recommend El Borrego!“

As for the food I ordered,,The Garlic Noodles with added Shrimp. Great Flavor and the shrimp were cooked perfectly.Next time I want to Try The Phad Thai Noodles with Shrimp and Filet Mignon. Looks Amazing. Next I Had to Try The LA Style Short Ribs as they looked Fabulous in The Pictures. First they give you a very generous portion as you can see in my pictures.And Guess What ? They Taste as good as They Look. Grilled in a very tasty sauce with grilled Onions and served with Steamed Jasmine Rice and A Delicious Asian Cucumber Salad.I wanted a extra serving of that salad. All in All the food was very satisfying and I enjoyed it very much.I will come back to try more of the menu without a doubt.And by the way I took home half of these plates for Dinner.Leftovers Never Tasted So Good. “The food: 1. The mì quảng ếch was alright, the flavors were not as bold or captivating as I expected, I added a good amount of chili to it. The frog meat was very, very tender to my liking. 2. My friend ordered the bún mắm heo quay and this was way better than what I ordered tbh. Pork belly was very crispy, the fermented fish sauce was bold and rich with umami and acidity as I expected. The pickled carrots and daikon that came with the noodles added some pleasant sour taste as well. The service: Average, the waitress came to take our order and she asked us if we needed anything else. Nothing extraordinary. The ambiance: The music could be a little louder, I could clearly hear other people's voices in the restaurant. It was pretty empty on an early Saturday evening though.
