“The food items were delicious, great selection of interesting dishes. The wine list was impressive (we’ve been to major wine areas all over the planet). However, what we were most impressed with was our server Olivia. She knew the menu items very well - could answer any and all questions that we had. She expressed herself very positively. Rather than ask “are you still working on that?”; she asked “are you still enjoying your meal?” Rather than reply to a thank you with “no problem” or “no worries”; Olivia replied with “my pleasure.” When we go back; we’ll make a point of asking for Olivia!!!“
“Did the hour drive from North county on a Friday afternoon (also called 40 mins prior to ask if they were still serving, as I saw sign on IG stating "until sold out" ) Def. Happy I tried this spot. Their pho is reminiscent of the Filipino "Nilaga" - like a pho-nilaga hybrid and with the chili oil, it hit all the right spot The owner's hospitality was second to none; felt very welcomed and appreciated as a new patron. Can't wait to bring my family to try this spot. Sending this business all the positive and blessed vibes so they thrive and continue to grow!“
“Excellent food and great service. A smaller menu but the dishes are some of the best I've had. We've been here three times and will continue to come back. Highly recommend the stir-fried green beans, Dan Dan noodles, pork soup dumplings and the beef noodle soup.“
“The pho is delicious, especially the steak pho. The price is great for the size of the bowl, I never finish it but I always take it home and eat it after.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian pho is so good, a great variety of vegetables that go well with the pho.“
“My experience at this restaurant was enjoyable, especially with the customizable stone pots and the option to personalize the broth with condiments and meats. The concept of individualized bowls was appealing, although I found the quality of the meat and fish to be average. The spicy broth was flavorful, but it felt like you get what you pay for - decent quality at an affordable price. Service was attentive, and the ambiance was laid-back. Although I returned once after my initial visit, my impressions remained unchanged, so I haven't revisited since. Despite this, I'd recommend giving it a try to form your own opinion--it might just hit the spot for you.“
“Did they change their noodles? This was one of my favorite ramen shops in San Diego, because of the fresh noodles, but they the texture has been different the past few times.Editing after the restaurant response: Thank you for letting us know of the shipment delays!“
“So pleasantly surprised by this place! We got the both XLB flavors, a couple of the dumplings, orange chicken and chicken chow mein. The noodles in the chow mein were slightly overcooked but that didn't take away from the flavor. All the dumplings were delicious and the orange chicken was some of the best I've had. Crispy and sweet but not overly sweet. We have picky kids and all of them devoured the food. Prices were fair and we are looking forward to returning! Service was great, waitstaff were nice and food came out quick!“
“Tried this location for the first time. Enjoyed the food and the prices were more than reasonable for the portions. We did a combination of lunches and dinner plates as a to go order and everything was fresh and tasty. Our lunches with chicken was approx 12 each and included rice and a small soup. Soup was delicious!I also ordered their Beef Salad which thankfully they put the dressing on the side so the greens stayed crisp. (I’ve been to many Thai restaurants and they often put it on which makes the greens soggy by the time you get home and no good for leftovers). The flavors were right on.Will definitely return!“
“Went here because of the good reviews and a recommendation. Like mentioned in other reviews, be prepared to wait a long time for your meal! It is a small place, and they don’t take reservations. You can enter a waitlist.I waited for more than an hour, but I feel like it was worth it (I was veeeerry hungry though). I ordered the karaage (it was okay, I definitely had better), and the tonkotsu ramen. This came with a homemade chilipaste and some finely chopped garlic. I would highly recommend to add these to the ramen, because it really enhances the flavours, otherwise it is quite bland, but after the addition I slurped it up very quickly!Very kind staff!“
“Such a great experience. Best pho in SD. The fried food is always crispy af. The veggies are always fresh and never wilted. The broth is always flavorful and piping hot.At times, the restaurant can get busy and the staff certainly wears multiple hats. Don't let this bug you or pull away from your experience overall experience. I've found it only adds to the fun and is a part of supporting a family owned, small business. The boss lady who is in charge is a great host and always makes sure her guests are taken care of. I haven't found a better pho place in the US.“
“Our go-to place with friends and family. They have a lot of good dishes for everyone and can accommodate large groups. My little one loves the calamari appetizer, my other child always gets the Pho and my favorite dish is the vermicelli bowls. The staff is super friendly. It's the perfect spot for a casual and enjoyable meal.“
“National City & the South Bay area are quickly becoming a foodie paradise. This place is new to me but I really liked their menu options. We had a unique Sushi n Gone roll, some delicious soup & a nice side salad. Come early because parking is limited during peak hours. Family friendly tho they do serve beer. Great staff.“
“This is a really authentic experience I loved the taste of the plates I tryed, the lamb fried noodle was amazing! It is also a popular dish in this restaurant.THEY MAKE THEIR OWN NOODLES and you can see through a glass window how they make them ✨“
“TL;DR good spot with some amazing items (e.g. intestine spicy noodles) albeit slightly lacking in depth of soup flavor but worthy of a late-night meal Spicy Noodle is a good spot with a small selection of noodle dishes with some accompanying side dishes like lamb skewers and other from the Chengdu region of China. Most of the staff here spoke fluent Mandarin and you have an ordering system similar to what you'd find in prototypical Chinese establishments. That shouldn't deter you, this place is a good spot to satisfy a noodle craving Here's where I'll be a little bit more critical. The meal itself was decently priced around $17 for a single person ordering one item after taxes/tip. The food wasn't spicy imo and barely broke a sweat albeit I do enjoy spice so this could also be an individual scenario. The broth was also somewhat lacking in depth of flavor. It could have been that the intestines soaked up most of the flavor as the intestines were much more flavor-packed, however, I enjoy a richer broth and this was slightly stronger than the seasoning you might get with some spicy noodle packet All that is to say, it wasn't the most impressive place but the intestines noodle dish was above satisfactory simply because it's a hard dish especially cleaning the intestines from having a gritty texture. I commend them for this alone, everything else are nitpicks for me but would definitely consider returning as they had some other dishes that caught my eye like their spicy beef noodle dish“
“Food is always on point and authentic. You can just smell it when you walk in that it’s the real deal. Absolutely love the taro milk tea here! The peanut sauce is the best - they add enough spice and flavor to it. They put effort in seasonal decorations, keeping the place neat, and just the overall atmosphere is nice. One of our favorite Thai places for sure.“
“Excellent service! The food was very fresh and tasty. The drinks (iced coffee and coconut water) were also delicious. They have whole coconuts as well! I ordered a to-go order that was very quick and still incredibly good after getting it home. The shrimp in the shrimp vermicelli was very flavorful and sauteed in a sauce, not just regular cooked shrimp. Very tasty with fresh mint, Lettuce, and sprouts. I really liked the steamed veggies as well, I added a little salt to taste but they were very fresh and a great mix of veggies. The chicken and steamed rice was also good. The prices were very reasonable too!“
“Absolutely one of my and my wife's favorite places to eat. This specific restaurant, this specific address, these specific employees create a wonderful dining experience.I am always delighted by the speed at which the food arrives at my table, and my wife is always astounded at the speed at which the food then enters my mouth. The food never disappoints. This must be the greatest Thai restaurant in the U.S.Jolly good show.“
“First time here, but my wife has been here several times (she loves it). This place is quick and they had no problems fitting our party of 10 with no prior notice. We were seated quickly and water was brought out just as quickly. It seemed like our food was brought out right after we ordered it.Eggs rolls were good. I also ordered the Beef Noodle Stew, which was super filling, packed full of flavor, and had a generous amount of everything in it.I would eat here again and I would recommend it to f&f.Kid-friendliness: Plenty loud in here when it's busy so don't really worry if your kids are loud. Cups with tops and small/kid size bowls available.“
“Came here for happy hour.(+) Cool vibes. Looks like an old ramen bar with some tables along the sides of the restaurant.(+) Awesome happy hour deals.(+) Chili wontons.(+) Beef roll. Super good, loved the sauces they used, the beef was very tender, and the scallion pancake was super crispy and delicious.(+) Popcorn chicken. Healthy serving size.(-) Pork over noodle. I really liked the noodles themselves but it was SO salty I couldn't eat it.(+) Cocktails were good - the lychee colada and the guava margarita.(-) I do question the cleanliness standards a bit. I saw the person serving us do two questionable things that made me ? while we were there. (1) He grabbed a bunch of dirty napkins full-handed while bussing a seat and didn't wash his hands afterwards. (2) Saw him sneeze into his hand and then proceed to serve without washing his hands. The beef noodle soup looked good. I'd be curious to try the sesame wontons. I definitely want more Taiwanese beef roll.“
“It's my favorite ramen spot. I drive 35 minutes to get here! I highly recommend the newest special #1!I took my boyfriend and his mom and they loved it! It's great for fun dates, and family nights. The kids food options are great too.“
“Honestly, I was a bit surprised by this place, considering its touristy location!I did stop by here, around 2pm, so it wasn't crowded. It's such a cute gem. The faux chinese lantern lighting is absolutely adorable. Love the wide booth seating that draws your eyes to the built-in bookshelves in the back of the room, making this place look so chic and cozy at the same time. The music here gives me a chill lounge vibe: acoustic versions of famous songs without lyrics.Prices are a bit higher, but I think the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere is worth it!I had the Choo chee duck and it was delicious. I had my curry on the side, so the duck was on the dry side (crispy skin!), but it was great with the sauce, and you can be sure their rice was the right consistency :) The Thai tea was as expected! The amount of food for me was a lot!Enjoy!“
“The food was authentic and tasted great! The xiao long bao is one of the best I’ve ever had! Service was okay. You can’t really customize the food if it were for children. For example, we wanted the orange chicken but with the sauce on the side. They couldn’t do it or maybe they didn’t understand us but that’s okay. They could really improve by greeting you with a smile and thanking you as you walk out. A friendly demeanor is what I meant. We walked in right before dinner time so it was really busy right after we sat down and the place was a full house with lots of noise. Understandable, but overall, a good experience.“
“Only thing, when you walk in it seems like a sewer pipe is burst so not a fun time breathing it in.Food was good though. Hopefully that smell issue is fixed soon. Don't worry, you'll start to not notice it after a few minutes but you'll know it's there “
“This restaurant has very fresh food made when you order it. The prices here, at the China China restaurant, are very cheap.Parking: The China China restaurant has a large parking lot that is free for all those who eat in the restaurant or take away with themselves.“
“Delicious! We got the dumpling and wonton egg noodle soup, the combo egg noodle soup (#27), veggie egg rolls, and fried dough ("donuts"). The donuts were warm, nice and crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Egg noodles were delicious and broth for both our soups were excellent.“
“Despite shortage of staff, these family owners/cook/server have been so kind to feed my family with authentic Khmer/Angkorian dishes which I used to travel to Long Beach to obtain/enjoy! I like to continue to support such family who was forced to come to America, like my family, due to unfinished Nixon's war since 1969. God bless them!“
“The menu is varied, descriptive and contains photos of the entrees listed. I was very happy with the basil chicken. We also had spicy Thai noodles and another item; all delicious. The service is outstanding.Parking: Parking is located directly behind the restaurant, off a narrow side street. It is easy to miss if you are not looking for it.Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible from the parking lot and into the restaurant using the rear entrance.“
“I started with the brussels sprouts, very tasty! Then I had the creamy chicken ramen with added corn, and it was really good! They have a chilipaste (I think?) that you can add if you want more spice. Good vibes in the restaurant (not loud music), very kind staff.“
“One of my go to spots in San Diego. Every time I've been the food is always great and I find myself craving it when I haven't been. Highly recommend the eggplant with garlic sauce, probably the best eggplant I've had. The service is always quick and they staff is super friendly, the ordering is also self-service online vía a QR code which is convenient and easy to use. Overall 10/10 would absolutely recommend and will be back!“
“So delicious! The soup that comes with the lunch special knocked my socks off. The prices are great. Outstanding noodles. Friendly, efficient service. Feels like eating at a little hole in the wall on a Thai island, except with real chairs (iykyk). I'll be back.“
“Very bold move to open a jack of all trades restaurant in a place where you can get almost the best of specialized asian cruisines. That being said, the tonkotsu ramen and Popcorn chicken were very impressive. I highly recommend. Especially because it's hard to find $15 dollar ramens nowadays that still gives you all the amenities that belong in a good bowl of ramen.Popcorn chicken was freshly fried, well seasoned and delicious. Very happy with those two purchases. My wife wasn't too happy with the curry udon, but imo it's her fault for ordering it in the first place. It's not the restaurant's fault that curry doesn't belong with noodles haha. But if curry with noodles is your thing, it's got everything you'd want in there, plus they add cheese too.Come give them a try. I'm sure I'm not the only one skeptical since they do a few different cuisines.“
“So good we had to go two Saturdays in a row! Ordered pad Thai, pad see ew, Thai Basil, Panang Curry, & all of it phenomenal. Best Thai flavors we have had I think. We got it to-go and the gentleman kindly brought it over before I was fully out of the car. Everything hot and fresh. Spice level is high so maybe go down a number or two from your usual spice level ?“
“Black bean noodle and deep-fried pork came out pretty fast. Both are delicious! The noodle is bouncy and chewy, the black bean sauce is sweet and not bitter at all. The tangsuyuk is crunchy and the sour sauce compliments it so well. This is a big serving for 2 people and it’s only $27. You can’t go wrong with this combo. 10/10“
“Really really tasty and authentic jajangmyeon. When I'm in the area grocery shopping I will make a special trip into Zion just to get noodles here. It's a cute little spot tucked away in a food court but don't be fooled - the quality and taste is superior to restaurant jajangmyeon! There's also a super nice guy at the register who genuinely wants to ensure everyone loves their food. He even checks with customers before they close to see if they need a box or want anything else!! If you want a hidden gem, this is it!“
“Outstanding cuisine with excellent quality! The dishes are flavorful, healthy, and incredibly fresh. It offers great value, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. I've frequented this establishment many times and will continue to support this business because I love it! However, my only complaint is that occasionally there's a lengthy wait for food, with 45 minutes being a norm during busy times.“
“The seafood is absolutely fresh!!!! I ordered the Chirashi bowl; the sashimi is so fresh!!!!Loved the side dishes in the chirashi bowl. The table had chicken karaage (yummy), 1 of the popular appetizers to get, and sashimi. The clam sashimi is absolutely fresh as well as the yellowtail and salmon!!!! Will definitely come back when I visit. The service is great as well.“
“Came here to try their mapo tofu after having an extraordinary version of the dish at Taste of Chengdu in Orlando.?Although it didn’t reach the excellence of TOC’s version, this was nevertheless very good.?There’s a bit of a language barrier here, but communication was adequately achieved with pointing and gesturing of various sorts.?Ambiance was about as expected for a smallish strip-mall restaurant of this type.“
“Love getting their jjajangmyeon (black bean noodle) and tang su yuk (deep fried pork with sweet & sour sauce)! It's a classic duo to get. If you happen to get it as a take-out and you have the fire noodle hot sauce on hand, add some to your noodles and it will take it to a whole other level!“
“Best sushi place ever! The food and service is amazing!! everyone is so nice and friendly. our food came out so fast and was soo good. The spicy garlic edamame is the best I’ve had and the Samurai roll was amazing ?? overall the place is so good me and my friends loved it! I recommend everyone to go!!“
“We were seated almost immediately (party of 3). Our server was very friendly and informative, offering to put the spice on the side for my friends who couldn’t handle it. We got the vegetarian ramens (normal and spicy) as well as the spicy chicken and everyone liked it. The soy-based vegetarian broths were surprisingly creamy! Service was quick, with dishes served within 10 minutes of ordering.“
“The food: 1. The mì quảng ếch was alright, the flavors were not as bold or captivating as I expected, I added a good amount of chili to it. The frog meat was very, very tender to my liking. 2. My friend ordered the bún mắm heo quay and this was way better than what I ordered tbh. Pork belly was very crispy, the fermented fish sauce was bold and rich with umami and acidity as I expected. The pickled carrots and daikon that came with the noodles added some pleasant sour taste as well. The service: Average, the waitress came to take our order and she asked us if we needed anything else. Nothing extraordinary. The ambiance: The music could be a little louder, I could clearly hear other people's voices in the restaurant. It was pretty empty on an early Saturday evening though. Be warned that it's a struggle to find parking in this plaza's parking lot.“
“I love Pho. I base the majority of opinion on the strength of the flavor of their soup. The stronger the flavor the less they rushed it when cooking it earlier. The portion was exactly like I like, not too much but definitely not too little. Ingredients were all good except the mint leaves look like there were used. Leaves were ripped in half and looked like it was picked on. Not saying it was but it had that appearance and they should know better. I had mine to go and it was wrapped up so I didn’t look inside. They gave out packets of the hoisin sauce and a packet of fake sriracha 1 each…that equals a loss of a star or it’s 5 easy.“
“This is definitely not my first time here and I really don't know why it took me so long to write a review. So lazy! Anyways.. the service here is always amazing. They have a huge craft beer selection and wines I believe. I only come here for the food! We had the chow mein with beef, spring rolls, fried tofu, combination noodle soup with flat rice noodles and roasted duck noodle soup with thin rice noodles. Al were delicious. The roasted duck was flavorful and not oily. Love the clean taste of the broth. Can't ever go wrong with spring rolls. The tofu might have been a tad bit over fried but it's not gonna hinder this review. The chow men was delicious. The noodles were deep fried and it held the gravy well. When ever we are in the area we always stop by.“
“By far some of the best pho I have had in San Diego. Everything about this place is amazing from the pho to the chicken wings, to the fish. Definitely a family owned gem in the middle of suburban sprawl. If you live in Eastlake, you need to eat here!“
“Fortunate Son in San Diego offers a delightful experience for those craving authentic Southern cuisine with a twist. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance envelops you in warm, welcoming vibes. The menu boasts a tantalizing array of dishes, each crafted with care and bursting with flavor. Whether you're indulging in their signature fried chicken or savoring their mouthwatering barbecue selections, every bite is a taste of culinary excellence. The attentive staff adds to the charm, ensuring your visit is nothing short of memorable. Fortunate Son is a gem in San Diego's culinary scene, a must-visit for anyone seeking comfort food with a gourmet flair.“
“Another fantastic random find while visiting the area. For comparison, I also went to Ruth Chris while in town and would hands down, every time, without a doubt, choose Dumplings N More. EVERYTHING we had was delicious and the portions are generous. The price was great. The atmosphere was warm and the location is awesome for being in proximity to other things to do. Love. This. Place.“
“Absolutely awesome experience! Had a comfortable, clean, casual setting with lovely customer service. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. They also have a new discounted happy hour menu which is convenient and yummy! I would 100% recommend to come here and try their food! It is one of favorite restaurants now !I even forgot to take a picture of the food since it was so good.“
“Authentic recipes, great pricing, excellent service, what more could you ask for? they have an awesome lunch menu. I highly recommend you get the soup or salad and for your entree you can choose vegetarian, chicken, beef, pork, seafood Etc and the prices are excellent such a great value.Update: The service is still good even though like other restaurants they are having trouble finding help.Parking: Kind of tight so if In big vehicle try the far end of the lot.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps at the handicap spots“
“Pick up Order:Staff was friendly upon pick-up. Staff also read the special instructions note and granted my request asking for pepper that I could add to my Hong Kong Noodles.Best Asian fusion place I've been to. Loved the notable Southeast Asian notes with popular East Asian Dishes. Will have to try more of the menu to find more Asian influences!Food: As a Lao gal, I loved everything!!Hong Kong Style Noodles: Broth was so I good I had to take a second sip to make sure I tasted it right. The Cha Shu Pork was absolutely amazing! I usually don't like that style of pork because of the texture I usually find in ramen, but this Cha Shu Pork was SO SO SO flavorful and cooked to perfection that it just melted in my mouth. It must've been basted over flame because the flavor was present throughout the pieces (4) and it has a yummy sweet, charred umami flavor.Szechuan Spicy Chicken Wontons: ACTUALLY spicy and were yummy and filling. New kind of wrap for me (thin and silky) but still delicious.Satay Chicken: I smelled the satay chicken the moment I got back in my car. I had to fight myself from digging into the bottom of the bag and taking a bite right then and there. They wrapped it in foil so it was still warm and flavorful when I got home.Beer: Learning to like beer, but the TOM YUM BEER American Wheat Beer was so refreshing and helped cut through the spices so I could continue to enjoy my meal (it actually says it on the back! I didn't see until after my meal lol). Cool to see the other Thai beers, will be trying them next time!Overall 11/10! Will be going back and trying the rest of the menu.Vegetarian options: All the vegetarian dishes have a green "VH" marked at the bottom of the description. SEA food tends to have a good variety of Vegetarian dishes.Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible right off the sidewalk and is a one story shop with no stairs or barriers. Swing door must be pulled open and is the standard door size. Tables and chairs can be moved to be accessible to wheelchair users.“
“Delicious food made with love and care! I love this family owned Thai place. The restaurant is a little cozy so it may be better for take out. The portions were good and the taste was phenomenal! I'll definitely be back. Thank you for your service!“
