“Came here as it had the highest ranking in Danville, very pleased with our orders. Tandoori chicken was sizzling and tender, butter chicken was spicy and tangy, very impressive. Goat curry was well cooked since goat can be tough and gristly when not prepared well. Palak paneer was mild and creamy. Medium spice left a pleasant heat in the mouth without being painful. Atmosphere is nonexistant and we were the only party in there from 630-730 on a friday night. They'll need to rely on takeout and word of mouth to stay afloat since the location is off the main drag and it's got all the ambiance of a panda express. But the food was deeeeelish.“

“The Gurkha Kitchen is a mini chain selling Nepalese halal eats. It opened where Pho Viet was. Interior mostly unchanged save for the added pics on walls & a flatscreen. Light music in background. Greeted upon arrival, assigned table, given menu. I ordered quickly. Food cooked to order. Came in 10ish minutes. Offerings (Nepalese version): appetizers, Nepali Khaja set, Thakali Thali, desserts, tandoori, momos, veg./non veg. entrees, Indo Chinese, rice & biryani, drinks, beers. Eats: Khasi ko Sekuwa (18.99) country style BBQ goat. Marinated with many Himalayan herbs/spice -served with sliced carrots/cucumbers, red onions, cilantro, potato salad. Lightly battered, had nuanced flavors of spicy, tanginess, subtle sweetness. -accompanied by large serving of lightly fried pieces of rice, jalepeno slices, mucho peanuts, -comped nicely made chai. Didn't pair with BBQ. Was informed when ordering it's "bar food". It sure was filling. Took most of it to go. Yummy it was. 4.5 stars: most diverse Nepalese ever seen! So far great food at 2 locations. Worth repeating...“
“Went here for takeout dinner--many choices, all tasty--and found an Indian grocery to rival Santos Spice Products. I mean, it's smaller, but they have filled every spot with something. They even sell little cones of henna, ready to use on your hands and feet! Also very friendly.“
“The food is authentic and very flavorful. We had a very different kind of food. The servers were very nice and friendly. The service was awesome. We had fried momos, chicken biryani, wai wai and chicken curry. Mind blowing taste. I highly recommend this place.“

“My girlfriend and I recently dined at Momo Masala, and it was an experience we won't forgey. The menu offered a delightful array of options, but our hearts were set on trying their renowned momos and biryani. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint! The momos were bursting with flavor, each bite a symphony of spices and textures. The biryani was a revelation, perfectly cooked rice layered with tender meat and aromatic spices. What truly elevated our dining experience was the ambiance. Surrounded by lush indoor plants and subtle Himalayan decor, we felt like we were dining in a cozy mountain retreat. It was a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But what truly set Momo Masala apart was their exceptional staff. Not only were they attentive and friendly, but their prompt service ensured that our evening flowed seamlessly. In conclusion, if you're looking for a culinary adventure that tantalizes the taste buds and soothes the soul, look no further than Momo Masala. It's more than just a restaurant; it's an experience worth savoring.“

“I came here specifically because I was craving chicken karahi and it definitely hit the spot. My partner got the madras chicken and that was also good. Both tender bite-size pieces of chicken breast, yet somehow so moist. And there's unlimited complimentary chai and hot water/tea bags. It was a mildly spiced chai. When we got here, there were only a few people, and the manager (didn't get his name!) said we could sit anywhere. After looking at the menu, we asked him his chicken recommendations. He was refreshingly honest about how some dishes weren't particularly unique or difficult to make and guided us. For spice, we got the karahi med-spicy and madras just medium. I'd say medium is pretty mild by my standards, next time I'd get spicy if I wasn't dining with my mild-spice white bf. After asking about the naan over papadum, he suggested naan but gave us papadum on the house, which was really appreciated. Mid way through dinner a large party (15+) came in, making the place much more lively and busy, but service was still good. I was glad to see it for the business :) Next time I would try some different appetizers, a lamb dish, and maybe aloo naan. Looking forward to coming back.“

“Charming little spot with cheerful decor and welcoming staff. Probably best suited to small groups as it's quite cozy. Went for my birthday with family, including elderly-ish mom who enjoyed the food and was treated very kindly by the staff.“

“A lovely and very tasty indian restaurant downtown! Husband and I went on a Saturday night and it was nice to see it was busy. Food was fantastic - we had samosa, garlic naan, fish fry and butter chicken. Everyhing was fresh and so delicious. Service was a little slow, and our waitress was not very engaged with us. We would have appreciated some note on website that they don't have a liquor license but we did see one group get a bottle from next door. We had some chai and it was perfect. We will definitely go back, and with a larger group so we can try more dishes!“

“Took a risk on this place despite it being too new to have reviews, and I'm very glad I did. The restaurant has a cozy vibe with Karam boards and complimentary chai. Server was extremely nice, and even gave me complimentary rice with my appetizer. Food was also very good. I got the Fried Momo and the Chili Paneer. All felt like it was freshly prepared and had good quality ingredients. Definitely going back for a more complete meal.“

“Ordered take out straight from Yelp. Me and my husband loved it. Got Tikka, garlic Naan, and a mango Lassi. The Lassi wasn't overly sweet which I liked. The Tikka was awesome, tender chicken, rich flavor. Garlic Naan very generous portion. The food was gone in seconds. We will be coming back!“

“I honestly don't have much to say beside, why did it take me so long to come here. This place is not only affordable, but it has the nicest group of staff that work here. I came here twice already, once with my husband and they were super nice to tell us on how their place is self serve; you order first, get your plates, drinks and sauces, then you take a seat at any open table. After you are done eating, you then pay after and let them know if you grabbed any soda out of the fridge. The ambiance here is super simple, but cute for their establishment. The second time I was here, I came with my coworker and we ordered the lamp chop Tandoori which was the best cuts of meat and super tender. My coworker really enjoyed this place and will definitely be making this our weekly round of coming here. I will say that because everything is affordable, it not only taste good, but they are also generous with their portions when serving. This place is honestly a hidden gems of Indian food, because you wouldn't think to come here until someone tells you and then you get all mad because it took you this long to come in here. I had a great experience with both visits and I honestly like the self serve concept of it because it allows you to get ready for your food to come out. Like I always say, don't knock it till you try it.“

“This is my favorite restaurant in Concord, and I like a LOT of the local restaurants, so that's saying something. I'd come here every day if that weren't a bit too often to eat out!My favorites here are the samosas, the onion naan, and Tomato Tarka Dal, though there's so many other delicious dishes I just wish I had enough room for it all!“

“We are so lucky to have Saffron in Lamorinda. The food is delicious, flavorful, clean ingredients and authentic. Everything is made with so much love. This is the spot to get your dose of Indian food or catering for parties. Full of comminity!!!!! I went to a rad Diwali party at Saffron and left high on life.“
“I tried finally some takeout from this place after hearing so much buzz about it. The paneer tiki masala and rice I had was very tasty. The spices were nicely balanced and not too bold. The paneer was slightly chewy rather than the more firm texture I'm used to. At some point I will go back for a sit-down meal there since the dining area looked cozy and inviting. I'm not 100% sure I'd try the paneer again, but menu had all the usual suspects so I'm sure I'll find an alternative. The service was very friendly and fast.“
“Super solid and very substantial meal for the money! There isn't much (if any) sit down space, so it's definitely a grab and go option (they're on Snackpass too if you want to order ahead). You build bowls/burritos by specifying the main protein and all the sides, very similar to Chipotle, but for Indian food. It's certainly not the best Indian food you can find in Berkeley, but seeing as it's a fast-casual restaurant, the quality and price are quite good. Just a note that they will fill your burrito with so much filling that it barely closes - sounds good at first due to the volume of food, but it's impossibly messy to eat. I stick with the bowls now, which makes it easier to save the remainder to eat later vs. a burrito, which will get all soggy and disintegrate. You've been warned :D The lunch rush can bring some long lines, but since most of the food is already cooked, the assembly is quite fast. At peak lunch rush, you should anticipate a 15 minute wait, or use Snackpass to order ahead.“

“Everything was delicious! My favorite was the chana masala. The fried peanuts are like nothing I've had before, in a great way (but not date food since it's loaded with raw onions and garlic ?). People are really nice and it's now my go-to spot when I'm in the area. I can't wait to try more of the menu!“

“We always order momos from this place, and they never disappoint. Last time, we tried some other dishes, and the noodles weren't great. Still, the momos are the best around, The momos have amazing flavors, and the prices are fair. We usually do takeout, but we're excited to eat in sometime. Despite the noodle issue, it's still our favorite spot for satisfying our momo cravings.“

“One day a prince disguised as a pauper from far away walked into a humble roadside restaurant. He was greeted kindly and given a window seat. The owner, swiped his hand in the air and said, 'You must be tired and very hungry.' The prince nodded yes. The owner open his arms and gestured, 'For you, eat all you see and enjoy our Indian dishes made with love.' The prince smiled, and ate four plates stacked high with deliciousness. The prince rose up, to reveal he was the prince of Yelp. He smiled broadly and cheered, 'This is a magically place of food wonder and adventure. I bestow this as the best Indian Buffet of thee land of Bay Area!!!'“

“I have eaten several times in this restaurant. It is elegant enough to have a meeting or friends reunion, and reasonably priced for students. You may treat yourself for a 'tandoori' delicious dish, or just go vegetarian. The owners are almost always there and give a nice atmosphere to the place. I just love this restaurant! “got fish curry, excellent flavor (strong but not too strong), fish came in these pieces - would have preferred better quality fish (taste+texture) but overall very good, portion size meant that with rice it was something like a meal and a half maybe more“
“Really fantastic food! I just got Chicken Tikka Masala, nothing fancy, but I thought the spice blend was really well done and the chicken was tender.I hope the owner invests in a larger sign and cleams the front area up a little. It almost looks closed from the the outside and there were no other customers when I went in. I bet they would be a lot more business if it had a sign to draw people in- the food is really quite good.“

“tasty food that always hits the spot. it seems like a cute family run place that usually have tables open. service was great - we went in around 30 minutes before closing but they were still willing to serve us. have to order rice/naan on the side on top of original dish so it comes out to be on the pricier side. garlic naan was a bit too oily, so id recommend the original one to go with the curries.“

“I had a wonderful and vibrant dinning experience here with my friends & family. The portion size is amazingly good and the service is marvelous. I ordered Amristari Fish and their Fish Tikka Masala which was mouthwatering and the food quantity was ample for more then one person.Their staff is so efficient and friendly. I highly recommend this to anyone who is planning to taste authentic Indian food with a small/large group.“
