“Probably the best Ethiopian food in L.A. They cook it fresh to order with high-quality meats, very tender, and good portions. We don't go here often though, because the food advantage is outweighed by the long delays in getting the food. We have never waited less than 40 minutes after ordering. Also the service isn't the greatest and the atmosphere is cramped and not the best. So depends on what you want -- great food, or a more comfortable, all-around dining experience. If you want the former, Awash is your choice. If the latter, there are plenty of other Ethiopian places nearby with really good food that are quicker and more comfortable inside, with better service.“
“the street parking was free on a Sunday when i went. interior was dimly lit with tasteful paintings and pieces of art hanging on the walls. it was my first time eating Ethiopian food and the server was very patient with my questions. we ordered the veggie sambusa, which was flavorful and crispy-hot from the kitchen. beware that the green sauce it came with was much spicier than i expected. the star of the night was the veggie utopia. our server poured our lamb and chicken tibs into the middle of the huge circular platter of veggie utopia. very delicious and nice.“
“love coming here, it’s a very inviting space. the owner is always there and extremely hospitable and everything’s reasonably priced. it’s small and i imagine that it can get packed fast although i’ve never seen this. great music choices as well!“
“It is simply too easy to say that this meal was excellent. We had the fried plantains, which were piping hot and so sweetly delicious, and the Vegan tasting platter. There were three of us and we were given the suggestion of ordering a double portion of the six different vegan entrees and it was the perfect amount! Our server was so friendly and gracious and most appreciative of our compliments to her. This was a great spot of random choice. We would definitely go back again on our next visit to LA!“
“The Hudade special combo was so delicious and satisfying. All the different items went so well together, with the veggies cooked to the perfect texture. This is the best I've had at any Ethiopian restaurant. Ordering take out was pretty easy, but the restaurant is welcoming and warm -- looks great for dine in. Will definitely be back.“
“This is the kind of resturant where the whole staff care about what they are doing. As a result, the atmosphere is welcoming, the vibes cozy, and the food delicious. It's a perfect spot for a lingering date night. The best part of the night was when Chef Genet herself brought out her famous Dorowat for our party. It's earthy and deeply flavorful, a real treat. The vegetable dishes were my favorites, they all tasted very fresh and bright. A few words of caution, finding parking in the area can be tricky. The space is a little dark and echoy, so guests with vision or hearing problems may struggle.“
“Great food and great customer service ?? ??I also bought suff ffrom their storeVegetarian options: The veggie plate is sooooo gooood!!!! Nice-sized servings, enough to share with your husband.Parking: Free Street parkingWheelchair accessibility: The sidewalk is under construction on that street, so it is NOT wheelchair accessible, right now .“
“The signature sauce of Yvette's Kitchen will make you get out of your seat and start cooking pasta! The first time I tasted this sauce, I was delighted by the flavor and the fact that it is great with or without pasta. We have tried it with different types of pasta and the sauce maintains its wonderful flavor. (Yes, we have had more than one jar of it! LOL) If you do not try it at least once, you will miss out!!!“
