“Food was amazing! The service was bad! Very expensive but I expected to be better taken care of. They were fully staffed but no one seemed to be working efficiently. We were 8 and none of the food runners ever knew who ordered what. They had to ask on every plate they brought. Not just our table but others as well. I don’t know if they have busboys as our table was never cleared. Plates upon plate stacked up. No one asked if we wanted a second drink and the glasses were never picked up. When we ordered dessert we had to move the 16 empty drink and water glasses to one side, gather the bread plates, wipe everything down and wait for our desserts. It was a busy night but not too busy for bad service. I kinda expected more than diner service at such an expensive restaurant.“

“My daughter recommended this place so we gave it a try. There was only a handful of people there… it was a Tuesday. We sat in the outdoor area. We ordered two different veggie pizzas and bread sticks (kinda pricey). There wasn’t much to choose from on the menu. The food was more like an appetizer size serving but It was delicious. I have nothing negative to say about the taste of the food or the atmosphere.However, the parking was insane. We parked directly at the curb next to the entrance of the outdoor eating area. “Absolutely fabulous! The beef tartare was superb. I had the black truffle risotto and there is nothing better than that on the menu in my personal opinion, rich, creamy, earthy, simply delicious. My mom had the crab pasta which was so complex, but the lumps of crab added such a lovely ocean flavor to every bite. Our server was incredible! She was so attentive and kind and patient with us. But the best part of the meal was the tiramisu, not your typical tiramisu but the chocolate record decoration made the whole evening. Also the cocktails were worth every penny, expertly crafted and unique.“

“If you're looking for that classic, old school family-style Italian dinner in LA, Donna's is the way to go. They have a lot of the classics like pasta Ragu, chicken Parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs, veal picatta, etc. But they also bring a new age flare to some dishes like the lasagna Rollatini (think lasagna but instead of horizontal layers you get tight pinwheels of meaty, salty, cheesy goodness!) and fussili a la vodka with whipped ricotta. The restaurant itself does remind me of a Brooklyn-based Italian mom & pop restaurant with a checkerboard floor. It's a pretty small venue which is probably why it's so hard to get a reservation (you gotta book 1 - 2 weeks in advance at 10 AM on Rezy). This does make for a more intimate dining experience which is nice. We started with the garlic bread. Oh my god this was the best garlic bread I have ever had. The outer crust was so crisp and crunchy. Covered in parmigiano cheese. The inside was perfectly fluffy and so garlicky and buttery. I could not stop eating this bread I was genuinely considering ordering a second. Next we got the Caesar salad which was divine. Perfectly dressed with a fresh dressing and again served with tons of parmigiano. As a group of 3, we got 3 entrees in addition to those starters to share. We chose the chicken Parmesan, the lasagna Rollatini, and the pork ragu. The chicken parm was crunchy on the outside and loaded with cheese. The lasagna was fantastic, my only critique was that it was a pretty small dish but one bite of it was very rich. The pasta sheets were thin, arranged in pretty vertical pinwheels, and there was lots of meaty sauce in between all the layers. The pasta ragu was so good. Perfectly cooked al dente pasta topped with a rich pork ragu sauce. The service was great, our waiter was very friendly and attentive. My only critique was the dessert. The carrot cake was not moist and had a very citrusy flavor which was not what I was expecting. And the cannolis tasted stale. I would skip dessert but otherwise, enjoy a fantastic dinner at Donna's!“

Inside was livelier, more people, closely positioned tables,and an open kitchen facing the eating area. Cool modern music that's not too loud. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the coconut red chili oil scallops garnished with herbs and a slice of strawberry. I was pleased with the combination of flavors. Then we shared the bone marrow pasta, which was packed with savory flavors and interesting soft textures. It was delicious. Of course, we had to try the herb ceasar salad everyone raves about when talking about Bestia, and the hype is all true. We then shared a marguarita pizza and let me say this, despite the overly salted tomato sauce, the napolitano style crust elevated the rest of the pizza ingredients. I had old sunglasses: a tequila blanco cocktail with sweet citrus flavors all well balanced, I couldn't just have 1. My pretty friend had unsweetened ice tea, which was refreshing with a subtle fruit flavor. For dessert, we shared the chocolate dessert with a crispy sweet and salty crust that complimented the rich thick chocolate mouse that was just the right amount of sweet. “In the summer of 1975, I was only 14, and already a "Busboy extraordinaire"! My family had just moved from East Los Angeles to Monterey Park, and I started working at the best Italian restaurant on the planet, 'Agostino's'. At first, I thought all the beautiful girls were coming in to see me clear dirty dishes off of dirty tables. I later learned it had something to do with the food. And something to do with the restaurants' proximity to Mark Keppel High School. On top of all that. it was Great pizza at an affordable price. I stayed there charming the clientele for about three years. I met members of the M.P. Police, council members, Mayors, and others. I saw my classmates come in with their families, on dates, and in the banquet room after every major school dance. It was a place where you could go have pizza with friends, and not be embarrassed to run into your parents having a nice dinner. It was the hub of all social life in the San Gabriel Valley. I left the restaurant for college in 1978. In 1980, Agostino ("Gus") and Alicia sold the restaurant and went back to Sicily. I hadn't seen them in almost 50 years. A half century! Well, my fellow Monterey Parklandians (is that even a word?), this past weekend my wife says to me: "Remember your wish to step into 1975 and smell the food at Agostino's again"? She then drove me to this small Italian restaurant in the community of Paramount. Inside ..... were Gus & Alicia. The original owners who gave me my first real job so many years ago. The food was as good OR better than I remembered. Just as fresh too. My wife and I split an antipasto salad, a lasagna, and a pizza. Alicia came over to sit with us, we traded hugs & stories. Alicia is as warm and delightful as I remembered her. We didn't spend too much time with Gus, he was busy. Although I believe Gus is still jealous, because Alicia thinks I'm too handsome. So I placed an order for three sandwiches for me and my department for pick up more than an hour in advance. When I get there, they seem busy, and I let them know that I am picking up an order that I placed online and it took them only a moment to find my order and tell me that it was gonna be another 15 minutes til it was ready. So I wait on one of the seats outside 15 minutes and then go back inside, and my order isn't bagged yet. As I'm waiting, someone else comes up because she had called a correction in to her online order. Yes, this review is a bit tedious, but that's what it was like to get my sandwiches which were delicious by the way. Short story long, order in advance and show up 20 minutes late.“

The girl after me ordered well done and I regret not ordering my pizza that way cause of the crunch. But it was still good. Medium might only feed 1-2 people by my standards.“

They play light music in the background. The dishes are flavorful. The waiter was attentive. The owner checked in with us and thanked us for eating at his restaurant.
