“Chef Marcus’ dishes are full of flavor & fresh ingredients that make for a spectacular culinary experience. 😋”
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Flea Street in Menlo Park, and it was a truly memorable experience. From the thoughtfully curated dishes to the warm ambiance, Flea Street delivered on all fronts, showcasing the best of California’s farm-to-table dining.
We started with a selection of small bites, beautifully presented on a wooden board. The whipped butter, arranged in delicate rosettes, was almost too pretty to eat, while the house-made bread and savory bites set a delightful tone for the meal.
The next dish was a crispy arancini served atop a creamy sauce, garnished with pomegranate seeds that added a pop of color and a hint of sweetness to balance the savory flavors. Each bite was rich and comforting, with a perfect contrast of textures.
Another highlight was a beautifully plated poached egg over a flaky pastry, a simple yet satisfying dish that emphasized fresh ingredients and skillful execution. The egg was cooked to perfection, adding a silky richness to the flaky base.
For the mains, we enjoyed a seared fish fillet atop a bed of orzo and fresh vegetables. The fish was cooked just right, with a crispy herb crust that added an aromatic layer to the dish. The balance of flavors and the quality of ingredients were evident in every bite.
The braised beef with roasted carrots was another standout, tender and flavorful, with a rich sauce that complemented the sweetness of the carrots. It was a comforting, hearty dish that felt both rustic and refined.
We also ordered two drinks: the Modern Old Fashion (yes, it sounds funny—Modern yet Old!) and a Dirty Martini. The Modern Old Fashion was fantastic and clearly a specialty of the restaurant, with a perfect blend of flavors that elevated the classic cocktail. However, on the downside, the Dirty Martini was quite disappointing. Not only was the flavor way off, but they also served it with unpitted olives, which felt like an odd choice for a cocktail. While the olives weren’t the issue, we ended up returning the drink due to its overall taste.
Finally, we ended with a dessert that brought the meal to a satisfying close—a creamy, textured dish topped with crunchy chocolate bits, providing a lovely mix of flavors and textures.
Overall, Flea Street offers a wonderful dining experience with a focus on sustainability and local ingredients. Each dish felt thoughtful and well-executed, and the service was attentive and friendly. While the Dirty Martini fell short, the Modern Old Fashion and the exceptional food more than made up for it. It’s a perfect spot for those looking to enjoy innovative, seasonal cuisine in a cozy and elegant setting. Highly recommend!”
“Tonight, we stopped by Oak & Violet to catch the live music. Ken, an acoustic guitarist and singer, performed, and his voice and guitar skills were fantastic. We liked him so much we asked for his business card for private events.
We were impressed by the ambiance, and had a great evening enjoying cocktails, wine, and appetizers. The service was excellent, and the patio ambiance was cozy.
While street parking is limited, the restaurant, located inside a hotel, offers free valet parking for two hours, with a $10 charge after that and additional fees for overnight guests.
We’ll definitely be returning for more live music!”

“The food was absolutely delicious. My wife and I took our three month old baby there for breakfast one morning and everything was delicious! Especially the coffee! The place is very well designed with high-end tables and chairs and decorations. The overall feel of the building on the inside and out is well thought of plan and placed well
Our only complaint was our waitress. She seemed like she could give a rip about anything. When asking some simple questions about the items on the menu she practically rolled her eyes to go ask the chef some questions. When we were finished with our meal, she came back with the check and we asked her if we could have another coffee, and I swear that I was either pulling her teeth or torturing her by asking for another coffee. She kind of grunted and slowly walked back to get what we had asked for. Our whole overall experience would have been awesome if it was not for the service. I highly recommend finding new help.
Also, there were only six customers total in the entire place (including my wife, and I ) when we were there. She was not being overworked or overwhelmed…. she literally hated every moment of being there from what we could tell.”
“YES THIS SUSHI IC SO CLOSE TO OUR HOUSE AND CHEAP!!!! YOU GET A FREE DRINK WITH ORDER! ( not including water, that’s always free)
Kid-friendliness: Not many kids go there, but they are still kind to kids who do go there.”
“Excellent! Many fascinating choices, moussaka was light, excellent, beautifully presented. Combination mezze plate was excellent and elegant! Breads were perfect, fresh and and flavorful. Coffee was smooth, served in delicate ornate Turkish china. Staff was wonderful and excited to welcome us, help with any questions. A quiet place for a lovely family dinner! Opening at 4 pm was very helpful, parking out front or in back. Felt like being transported to a gracious culture in a family’s home.”

“Fantastic evening at Robin. The omakase restaurant had a hip, night clubby feel to it as the interior was dark with dance club music, but the sushi was definitely worthwhile. Erin and Abby provided friendly and efficient service, which contributed to the overall positive experience. Free parking lot next door makes it easy to find a parking space.”

“The food here was great, and our waiter was incredibly kind and friendly! We loved the lamb biryani, dahi puri chaat, and chicken saag—all were delicious. The medium spice level was quite mild, so if you enjoy heat, I’d recommend going for spicy.
The only area for improvement was the sauce for the momo, which was ice cold🥶”
“The owner John is absolutely wonderful! Not only do you get high quality food and drinks here but you get to be entertained by John the whole time. He takes time to come and talk with each table and make sure that you are enjoying the food. This is such a local gem of a restaurant and a must go when in Menlo park for sushi! The quality of the food speaks for itself!”
“Food was fantastic! Covid has hit all restaurants hard and La Stanza was new to Menlo Park opening in January 2020. The owner / chef has his Italian cuisine dialed. The cesar salad was dressed to perfection served on a chilled plate w/shavings of Parmigiano Reggiano.. Delish! My short rib ravioli special was exactly what I was hoping for. Hand made in house pasta baked to perfection. My wife had the sacchettto vegi pasta pocket stuffed w/vegis . The red sauce had tremendous flavor... and perfect to mop up with the bread. 🤪... This place is a must try!”

“I'm a big Barebottle fan and have visited their various locations before this one opened. Great beers including amazing sours (my favorite!). The staff are always so friendly and happy to provide tasters and recommendations when there are new rotations.
I booked the lounge area with with pinball machines and games for my birthday celebrations last week and the team were absolutely amazing. We opted to have our guests grab their own beers, but staff checked in with us throughout our time to make sure we had everything we might need!
Enjoyable every time we visit, whether for big celebrations, a flight after work or a quick drink before dinner! ?”
“Woodside Bakery prepared the most beautiful and delicious fruit pies for our August wedding. We are from out of town, and Jan and her team did a fantastic job organizing with us from afar. We are so grateful for their contribution to our special day! Highly recommend.”
“My husband and I decided to try this restaurant as it was close to our hotel, and neither one of us had ever had Uyghur food before. I can honestly say it was some of the most delicious food we've ever had. The flavors are incredible. Highly recommend this little gem with its absolutely wonderful food and lovely staff.”

“First time here and it won't be my last. This restaurant had great service with delicious, wonderfully presented Asian dishes. Vast selection of menu items. Beautiful upstairs and downstairs dining room. Great for small or large parties. Bar seating with an extensive collection of wines and some beer.
A little pricey, but that goes without saying if you're located in Menlo Park /Palo Alto Bay Area.
Honestly, the food and service is worth the price though.”
“Do not be dissuaded by the fact that this place is called the BRITISH Bankers Club. The food and drinks are excellent!
Shout-out to Min for being an incredible server who was wonderful in helping us select awesome items off the menus. Highly recommend trying the cocktail with the coconut cookie, black sesame on the rim, and tea ( it's new and on the seasonal drinks or daily deposits menu ). Honestly delicious and very unique.
Also shoutouts to the chef who cooked the chicken of the chicken tikka masala dish. This is the best cooked chicken I have had in a long while, perfectly tender and juicy and flavorful.”
“Food was really quite good. The drinks were noticably skimpy - I'd say half a pour for wine compared to most places. Mains took a while, but without us asking, the server brought a free appi (burrata, which was excellent). I really enjoyed the eggplant parm, and my date enjoyed her tortellini. The place seemed chaotic and disorganized, but at least the food was tasty and the servers pleasant. And sorry, I know the cookies after the meal are free, and I feel like I'm being ungrateful, but just say no. Nuf said.”
“This sugar is good and the service is also the problem is that the cook does not pay attention to the notes. I ordered a burrito without onion and without cilantro, the cook went overboard with the ok mistakes happen. But when the cook turns crazy I ask them for the order and the guy just reduces the onion and mixes the meat if you know that the reason I ordered it without onion is because I'm allergic. I lasted 3 days with sore welts that I could only bite a few times.”
“This being my second visit I guess I liked it enough to return, and I was once again impressed with both visits.
My first visit I had chicken Parmesan
and for my second visit I had veal Parmesan. I enjoyed them both so much I will gave to have another visit to help me decide which one was my fav.
I was happy to see they have a large bar for cocktails. The service was good.
My only ding is the dated interior and the difficulty seeing the restaurant from the street as it has much greenery all around.
A very nice place.”
“Highly recommend Tony's! Not only is the pizza delicious and affordable- the staff is also dependable and friendly.
I'm a big fan of getting the godzilla and king kong pizza's for parties!
They are also strong supporters of the community and donate to No Birthday Left Behind - a nonprofit that throws children's birthday parties at local homeless shelters. Please support business like this that support our community”
“The yakitori is average, but the price is quite high—definitely overpriced. The same goes for the wagyu sukiyaki. However, the service is nice, and the ambiance is excellent.”
Takeout Restaurants
“We were looking for a new place to try and Octopus had some great reviews/ pictures of their sushi rolls. After looking over the menu we decided to head on down. Friendly staff got us seated right away and we started with a round of appetizers. Gyoza, chicken karaage and a Toro Nigiri special started off the night and everything was delicious. Ordered 4 rolls and a bento box combo and everyone was extremely satisfied with the food. Can't wait to return and explore more of the menu”
“Exceptional service and great food! Nice and quiet atmosphere. Highly recommend the fajitas and guac”

“Teleported. Now I’m in Mexico. She’s making a tortilla for me live. They are hot. They are fresh. That’s the kind of service that leapfrogs the tier and dollar sign that this place is. Ordered a carnitas burrito and a carnitas super plate. Both were amazing. Fed two adults and three kids. There is so much meat. I highly recommend this place as the best taco in the Menlo Park Palo Alto area.”
“When I pulled up to this location there were trucks galore parked all around the surrounding area. There was a line of blue collar workers about 15 deep. I order their pulled pork sandwich and it was great. Also, their potato salad was the very best I've had at a deli. What a gem of a location and my go to spot for lunch when I'm in the area.”
“I recently visited Counterpoint with friends for brunch and had a fantastic time. We enjoyed the **Garden Omelette** with fresh veggies and Monterey Jack cheese, the flavorful **Veggie Breakfast Burrito** with feta and pico de gallo, and a refreshing **Seasonal Yogurt Parfait**. The **Breakfast Sandwich** with ham, avocado, and aged cheddar on a toasted croissant was a highlight. The friendly and helpful staff made our visit even better. We had a great experience and can’t wait to return!”
“I go here all the time- since I go to the middle school down the road it’s very convenient. I ALWAYS get this drink- Strawberry lemonade, normal sweetness, no/less ice, 2x lychee jelly, 1x mango jelly. It’s always so good every time! The tofu cubes are not good but I don’t like tofu in general so that’s just me. It doesn’t take too long- but really depends on how busy it is. The staff is nice but doesn’t talk much. The atmosphere is nice too! I love the vibes of this place. I don’t get tapioca boba but the lychee and mango jelly is so good, especially if you love jello or stuff like that. It’s chewy but not too chewy, and very sweet. I recommend if you like fruity/sweet drinks.”
“Nice lunch experience really like the vibes here brought the family here for great lunch and love the place nice music really clean nice tv playing hockey.
Food was prepared at the moment really fresh and yummy my kids love it.
Abel was really helpful with us since the cashier made a mistake with the order.
Problem was fix right a way with nice apology and not extra charge including free chips.
We feel really welcoming here little price but definitely worth it.”
“This place is a step above Chipotle, the sauces and salsas are pretty good, and their menu of pre-set flavor combinations is also pretty solid. My friend got a custom quesadilla and loved it, and I got one of the vegetarian nachos option (which was *loaded* still, so if you're veg, you'll definitely not go hungry), and we both got Jarritos to drink. They have a full bar, too, which we didn't try at all, so we will have to come back for happy hour.
Vegetarian options: Lots of protein options (bean varieties, cheese varieties), and lots of toppings to make your nachos/tacos/quesadilla loaded and delicious.”
“I actually love this place albeit I order the same milk tea with no boba everytime lol but the place is cute, it’s next to mami Cheli’s that has great pupusas and even next to downtown Menlo. I’m not much of a boba drinker so in terms of the drinkw can only say what I liked and their milk teas are great imo but I feel like the area and the aesthetic is quite nice (music would be nice though).”
“I've bought pizza here twice, the first time it was perfect, my favorite in the area. Strong undercarriage, good quality cheese, crispy pepperoni. But yesterday it was overdone, burned in some places and the crust was tough and crumbled like a cracker upon biting. My impression is that Avanti can make great pizza, but it's inconsistent.”
“This place is pretty tasty. They are under construction, but have big tables out front. The plates are an ok deal, like the asada plate for 14 bucks, or a torta for 8 bucks. But the prices are really high for a modest joint! With small tacos at 3 bucks each, lunch with a drink is about 20 bucks! Maybe I am getting old but 20 bucks should buy you more than a plate of 4 tacos. Did I mention they were tasty? Very tasty!”

“Excellent food. Pleasant surroundings. Noise level high. Not always so but big group of Gen Z/Millenials who think they rented the entire restaurant. No thought about others. Our waiter didn't hear part of our order because of the noise.”

“Nice restaurant and good dim sum dishes. We had lunch late, many dishes were sold out. Only ordered 5. The xiao long bao could be better, otherwise the rest were actually good and authentic.
The restaurant was full of uncles (I didn’t even see any aunties). They all have such serious faces that I was afraid if I made a wrong move I would get scolded ?”
