“As expected from a Michelin restaurant, the food was harmonious with the ingredients and sauce, not salty and delicious. Classic flavors that stick to the basics rather than unusual dishes. The service was great and the quantity was larger than expected. This is a Michelin restaurant where there is no reason not to eat an aperitif, amuse bouche, and a two-course lunch priced at $59. However, the wine corkage price was high and the wine list was good, but it was expensive, but it was understandable considering the price of the meal. I plan to go again next time for the dinner course. It was a very pleasant meal!”

“Had a good experience on a date night with the wife. Beautiful location in the redwoods and a great ambiance with the fire places and low hanging clouds. My only issue was value. I thought it was a bit over priced but that's the world we live in. What did surprise me was the mandatory 20% gratuity. We will definitely go back but for our budget this is a once a year treat.”

“Outdoorsy and spacious community cafe. I really enjoy the vibes here. This cafe is community based and the hours are typically from 8-1 or 8-3. The kind gentlemen have me the WiFi info before purchasing anything. I'm not sure if there's inside seating as this cafe seems to be a part of a church. Customer service provided by John was top-notch! He really took his time with his customers and drinks to make sure everyone was happy. I appreciate the small chats and accommodations! Parking was a little difficult. Only about 6-7 spots in the front. Really a community cafe. Would be back if I were to grab coffee with a friend but I wouldn't exactly advocate to work here since I prefer the convenience of being indoors when I work. Nonetheless, I'd recommend this place!”

19501 Skyline Blvd, Woodside

“It is a small local winery located in the Santa Cruz Mountains.Unlike most other wineries, it is located on top of the mountain. I think the founder came here because he wanted a cool climate. It's better to dress a little thick because it's on top of the mountain.Since it's a small winery, the vineyard is rather small. There is not a lot of wine produced every year. In a way, it's a rare wine that you can't find anywhere else. The view down the mountain is very cool. You can taste and buy wine in the shop. Lexington 2014 vintage was tasted and bought. It was pretty good. Thomas Fogarty brand chardonnay 1998 vintage wine was selected also with an affordable price. Vintage 1998 is the taste of pain in Korea, which almost ruined the country due to the economic crisis. I should share it together at the wedding celebration of my best friend since pain is one of strong taste of marriage.”

“Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Wakuriya in San Mateo, and I must say, the experience was quite remarkable. From the moment I stepped in, the serene and welcoming ambiance set the stage for what was an exquisite culinary journey. The service at Wakuriya was impeccable. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. Each course of the kaiseki menu was presented beautifully, showcasing a blend of traditional Japanese culinary artistry with subtle Californian influences. The highlights for me were the braised sea bass with its delicate yuzu gelee and the perfectly cooked Wagyu beef, which was both tender and flavorful. However, while the food and service were exceptional, I have some reservations about its Michelin star status. The quality and presentation were top-notch, but I felt that the overall experience, while delightful, did not fully align with other Michelin-starred restaurants I’ve visited in terms of creativity and culinary innovation.Additionally, considering the price point, I found Wakuriya to be slightly overpriced. While I understand and appreciate the quality of ingredients and the skill involved in preparing such dishes, the cost seemed a bit steep when weighed against the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Wakuriya is undoubtedly a great restaurant that I would recommend for those seeking high-quality Japanese cuisine in San Mateo. The serene atmosphere and meticulously prepared dishes make for a memorable dining experience. However, if you’re looking for a Michelin star-level experience, you might want to temper your expectations slightly, especially considering the price. Nonetheless, Wakuriya remains a gem in San Mateo’s culinary scene, and I am glad to have experienced its offerings.”

From the Japanese delightful Amberjack to buttery Kinki(Japanese rockfish) to delicious Bonitos nigiri to sea eel nigiri from southern Japan that literally melts in your mouth. Watching the knife action of Chef Yoshizumi was a real treat, he was kind, nice and always smiling. Service was on point and their Sake tasting and choices were delightful and complimentary to the fish courses. The egg custard cake at the end was scrumptious but we didn’t really like the almond custard dessert. Definitely worth the trip and worth another visit.”

“This spot, operating since 1974, has become our go to for a superb dinner out. My wife and I start with a glass of our fav La Crema Chardonnay. We love the unlimited warm bread and butter. We share the Crisp Caesar Salad-the best we have ever tasted. The water service is non stop to make sure our glasses are full. We each order the 7 oz Prime Filet Mignon with a baked potato with butter on the side. The broccoli and carrots are fresh and so tasty. The service is always 5 star and last night was no exception, in fact, Jeff who was our server is the epitome of the perfect server. He has been there for 20 years and knows the menu backwards and forwards. We always have a problem deciding how to order our steaks wherever we go since all chefs and cooking scales vary. We explained to Jeff we just wanted our steaks with a little bit of pink and he told us he would take it from there because he works with the chef and tells him by color, how we would like our steaks served. And voila, they were exactly the way we ordered. Thank you Jeff for making our most recent visit another Sundance memory. Stu and Barbara G.”

“A lil pricey for a sandwich but very good stuff. Nice fresh sourdough; the bread was soft and had a nice slight crunch to it. The original (ham and turkey) was tasty and came with cheese. I saved half for the next day and it was still delicious. Somehow even better when cold. The crust sourdough dip with warm au jus (roast beef) was amazing. The roast beef was so tender! It was worth it. I also really enjoyed the bacon jam; I didn't know what to expect but I enjoyed the bit of sweetness and caramelized onions in it. Really solid! The bread also held up nicely when dipped into the au jus. The cookies are not too bad; I tried the lemon and it smelled great. Taste was good too but unfortunately it was a lemon cookie with coconut shavings inside (which was not mentioned) and I'm not the biggest fan of coconut! The interior is nice and spacious.
